When yall ship us chicken is there any way you could not mix the different chicken products? Sometimes ill get a whole pallet of one product except one box all the way at the bottom that's different. Then either me or a lumper has to re stack the entire pallet because of one box. Yall aren't the worst though National Beef does that on every pallet sometimes.
@chasedooley6237
@chasedooley6237 5 ай бұрын
@@xqeze Bro, fuck that, that’s so stupid. Always wondered why the lumpers fee are astronomical and unloading takes ages, now it makes sense. The people at our warehouses and plants don’t always do a good job. I’m not sure how their order selection process works, or how it differs at the processing plants. Some of the plants are pretty dysfunctional though, always are pain in the ass to pickup or drop. Being a company driver, my loads are usually always preloaded and sealed. But I know our third-party contractors are usually live-loaded, so that may play into how bad they build the pallets. I think for some of our chicken plants, the products are made to order, packed, and stacked as they’re done. So may be with those one-off cases the guy starts a new pallet just as production is shifting to a new product and just continues to stacking.
@xqeze
@xqeze 5 ай бұрын
Yeah Tyson is sometime hard to recieve too because the product name or barcode will be different than what I have on my paper work. So I have to guess or count every box to match the numbers with the product we were supposed to receive. The JimmyDean trucks are usually good but there's alot of break down on those. Every pallet has several products that have to be separated but there's usually a clear separation. The bacon can take a while though there's alot on one pallet. @@chasedooley6237

@xqeze
@xqeze Жыл бұрын
Meat can go up to 50lbs. I dont know about paper products. You're not supposed to stack heavy things above your head but it happens. Palets can be built to about 7 ft tall. I'd choose paper. Less messy I'd assume. No blood on the boxes. But if you're concerned about the weight of the boxes, this may not be the job for you. Order selectors that last do not think about how hard the work is. They just focus on when that next break is.

Learn how to stack. Try different things. Make mistakes. Look at other people's stacking techniques and take ones that make sense. Notice size of boxes and what boxes can go together. Cross tie and make solid bases. Take your time. Learn all you can and listen to advice even if you don't use it. You might use it later. Speed will come when you know where the boxes are going on your pallet and you know what's coming so you can prepare. When you grab a box and set it on the pallet one time in an instant without adjusting or moving it, then you will be fast.

In the UK we call them order pickers. Selector sounds funny. We think of it as you are picking ie picking it up. Selector sounds almost like an oxymoron because technically, you ain't selecting anything. You get told what to pick. The US setup is sht though. You need llops with cages. Our pickers use the same headset with check digits.
@xqeze
@xqeze 2 жыл бұрын
Order selector is just the official title the company gives us. Its a nicer way to say it. Kinda like calling a janitor a sanitation professional. We call the act of selecting picking. We say we are picking boxes. We do shorten our title to just pickers. Order picker sounds kinda funny to me. Also if I wanted I could request certain orders from a supervisor. I don't but selection is an option.

It depends on how much we ship out. I do somewhere between 250 and 300 cases per hour. The number of pallets varys based on how big the orders are. How many hours do selectors work? Also, what are the numbers you are saying? The # of the Product or something?
@xqeze
@xqeze 2 жыл бұрын
Minimum 8 hr shifts max unknown. I've worked an 18 hr shift before. It depends on how many pullers and how much is needed to ship. My warehouse doesn't let us go till the work is done. I'm calling off check digits to my headset. There's ai that tells me what to pick and how many. The number I'm saying is the confirmation number above the particular slot the product is in.

@@loganmisiak5573 Yeah the ai tells you everything you need to do. It gives a command you give a response confirming you did the task. It says go to aisle 67 you say ready. It's says take to door 123 you say Sierra Lima 123.

@@loganmisiak5573 Easy once you get it. Stacking comes more naturally to some but most struggle learning how to stack good and fast. I have a list of stacking rules that are more instinct now. It takes time to learn set a box in the perfect spot and leave in quickly. Everything is timed. If you stack fast but badly you will drop the load and you'll loose all the time you spent running.

Wow that really sucks. I guess that would make sense. The computer doesn't know which boxes I'm grabbing. We loose so much product to damages I guess they don't care about the few cent differences in meat boxes.

It's somewhat surprising you don't have to call out the meat weights. Some cases can have more than 10 lbs. Variance. Some of these pricer meats are several dollars per pound. Now that I think about it, you probably work at a DC where you are supplying your own stores like Publix, Walmart, Safeway, ect. If you were selling to outside stores, you would 100% have to call the weights. Good video, you stack well and work at a good pace

Cause I'm too nice. I won't pull my jack next to someone, and I won't jump in front of someone until I'm sure that I'm far enough ahead. I do my best not to slow anyone down. I have trouble with the speaking part saying the numbers and counting like how you are I suck at multiplication physically I can do the it mentally my brain doesn’t
@xqeze
@xqeze Жыл бұрын
It just takes practice with the speaking. The talkman has a certain tone and pattern it likes, and you just have to hone in on it or re train your words in the system. You can train your words and numbers to whatever you want. Some people change "say again" to "what" or "que." You can train the numbers to Spanish, too, if that's an issue. As far as counting, just practice. There's a pattern with numbers. 17 +5 =23, 25+7 =33, 7+5=13, 9+4 =13, 4+19=23. If you know how the first 10 numbers add together, the pattern just repeats. 1+3 =4, 13+1=14, 4+4=8, 14+4=18, 14+14=28, 24+4=28, 3+9=12, 19+3=22, 29+3=32. Multiples are different, but there are fewer, so just memorize them with practice. If you don't practice and repeat something, you will never learn it.

Lol he was a traveling worker from another warehouse. Plus he thought he was fast. People who think they're fast, think that I'm trying to race them when I just want to pass. I let it go. If I'm truly good then I don't need someone to let me pass, I'm just going to do it. I'll let someone pick around me for 1 slot because people that pass too quick sometimes slow down right after they pass. But if they still pick around me after the next slot I'll stop and let them get by. But not every is that polite. Patience and letting things go is an important part of being successful at this job.
