Hey guys, it's Charlotte Dobre here and in this video, we're going to be talking about some people who got served a slice of humble pie.
We all know that feeling of thinking we're better than someone else or that we're invincible, but sometimes life has a way of bringing us back down to reality. In this video, we'll be taking a look at some people who thought they were untouchable, but ended up getting a reality check that they weren't expecting.
From celebrities to regular people, these individuals got a slice of humble pie in a variety of ways. Some were caught in scandals, some had their egos shattered, and others faced setbacks that they never thought they would experience.
But the important thing is that they learned from their experiences and were able to grow as individuals. We'll be discussing some of the lessons that we can all learn from these stories and how we can avoid making the same mistakes that these individuals did.

I have a severe latex allergy-both contact and respiratory. I’m aso a nurse. I once had a big reaction to a latex exposure-TONS of ballon’s-and totally convinced myself that I didn’t need to use my EpiPen or call 911. My doctor gave me a stern talking to…from the ER.

“When in doubt, just go to the hospital.” So TRUE. I know a lot us Americans avoid it because of the cost, but if you feel like something’s wrong, PLEASE trust your instincts and go get help. Don’t tell yourself you’re being overdramatic. I say this as someone who could have died at home from an infection if I didn’t finally listen to my gut and go get help. And yes, I got a big old hospital bill that took years to pay off, but I am so happy to be alive.

She isn’t an American, she’s from South Africa. Well at least that’s where she lives now. She has a lot of severe allergies, which is why she didn’t recognize this is as more serious. since having reactions like this is the every day for her. I know this is a more serious one, having them repetitively can desensitize you to understanding when one may be truly dangerous and you need more than just the meds you have at home. Just giving some context 😊

Absolutely agree. I recently went to the emergency room because I had some random pains and kept throwing up, figured nothing too serious. Then the doctor informed me that I have a wandering gallbladder. So, yeah. When in doubt, get it checked out.

As someone who goes to a LOT of concerts every year I can say thats not just a Kim Petras thing. That happens to a lot of artists that do cover songs or get popular off of 1 or 2 songs. The crowd is literally dead until THE song(s) comes on and then they go crazy just to go completely dead again.

A story about a concert gone wrong...and right. : ) I have 2 friends, they are married. Back in the early 1980's they had a chance to go see the great Roy Orbison, as he was playing a largish night club in the Pacific West of the USA. The venue was for 500 tables, a dinner show. My friends decided to drive 600 miles to see him. The last 200 miles was in an almost white out blizzard, one of the worst snow storms to hit the area in decades. They got to the venue and saw mostly an empty parking lot. They went inside, and there was about 25 to 30 people there, sitting at assigned tables with some moving around the place talking to people at other tables...and all speculating that Roy Orbison wasn't going to do a whole show for 25 to 30 people. They all ordered their dinners, but before it was served, the stage lights came on and Roy Orbison walked out, stood in front of the mic, and asked everyone to move to the tables closer to the stage..which they did. Roy announced that he deeply appreciated those who slugged through the snow and bad weather to come to hear him sing, and he promised them the full concert...even though he could have canceled for all the no shows. And that as soon as their dinner was served, the show would start. Dinner was served with a little confusion on the waiter's part because the people had moved to closer tables, but there was a lot of laughter and calling out of food orders so plates went to the correct diners. But once everyone started to eat, Roy and his band members came out and put on a full out high end performance for the few people who were there. He even came off the stage and asked people questions, and did some singing as he walked about the tables and gave everyone close up attention as he sang. My friends said that was the best concert they ever attended, Roy had them on their feet, clapping, singing, and dancing. I always loved Roy Orbison, and after hearing that story, my respect for him grew even more. A lot of famous artists would have just cancelled and felt justified in doing so, but Roy was really touched that those few fans battled a blizzard and bad roads to see him -- while all the rest played it smart and turned back or stayed home upon hearing what the weather was going to be like. He joked with his small crowd that they were officially the Dedicated but Dumb...lol : ) That got him a standing ovation from those who knew that was the truth.

I asked my friends about it again, to confirm, but never did get in to correct the statement about it being the early 1980s. I was, 15 in 1977, and Roy was already one of my favorite singers... I was introduced to his music by an uncle. : )

I'm allergic to nuts - it's an allergy I grew into so at first, the reaction was mild enough that I didn't even know until I had an allergy test but it got a little worse every time I was exposed. I mean, I had stopped eating things with nuts in them but wasn't too concerned with cross contamination. For whatever reason, while at a friend's house the subject of allergies came up. When I was describing to my friend's mom, who was a nurse, what happened the last time I had been exposed to peanuts, my symptoms and how I felt sick for several days she asked what happened when I went to the ER and I was like, "I never went to the ER, I just took an antihistamine, went to bed" and she freaked out and BEGGED me to go if I ever have another reaction and scolded me for not doing it in the first place. I honestly didn't want to bother them because I didn't think it was that bad, just really uncomfortable. It was a little eye opening and I've been extra cautious ever since. I guess I was lucky that it wasn't as bad as it could've been.

Going from a dead club to one where people were crowding in, on their feet dancing, and inviting the band back after 4, 6 and 8 week gigs was a testament to how much people really love musicians who know how to give of themselves.

The opening act was amazing then she showed little enthusiasm until the singer from the opening act came out to sing their co-hit. Like a different person then. She apparently got by on her voice, not her stage presence.

I had an allergic reaction to black mold from exposed walls in a nightclub that was open during some renovations. I didn't realize what was happening but my mom did and took me to the ER. I thought I was catching some horrific head cold or something. It can happen. Glad that girl took herself to the ER instead of going to sleep.

​@@jenniferwilliams9548 No, but I was having trouble breathing and was getting a bluish tinge to my skin. They ran tests at the ER that told them the cause was black mold. Then they asked me where I'd been in the past 12 hours. They actually reported it to the health dept who checked out the nightclub and made them close until they took care of it. I guess that's not unusual in old buildings and when they tore out the drywall on the inside it let the spores loose. I don't think I was the only one who got sick either.

Take your health seriously guys. About 4 years ago I was really sick. I had flue like symptoms. Aching all over, really high temparture, feeling like death but I thought it was just a flu so I stayed home and rested. My mum came back from holidays so I asked if she could brink me some coke. When she arrived she saw my state and she immediately took me to the emergency services. Turns out I had a kidney infection. I did not have any of the usual symptoms. It did not burn when I peed and I didn't have pain in my kidneys like the first time I had it. It really just presented like the flu. If my mum hadn't insisted to take me to the hospital it could have gone bad, thankfully it was caught early enough and I recovered but I have to be super careful about bladder infections.

If there's one thing I'm eternally grateful for is I'M NOT ALLERGIC TO A DAMN THING!!!! Seeing this womans allergic reaction is proof I am truly bleesed! I have known sooo many people with bad allergies, one lady was practically a prisoner in her home for almost the whole year because of airborne allergies, she only was safe to go out in the winter. I have also recently found out I was blessed not to have bad period cramps like too many women. I was never incapacitated by my cramps. My worst ones were in the first 10 of having my period, after that it was more like a hard pressure against my ovaries. My sympathies to all you ladies with the horrible ones.

Be careful saying that! You can gain or lose allergies at any point throughout your lifetime. I had zero allergies my entire life until I was 23 and went into anaphalatic shock after eating dinner with my family and had to be rushed to the ER. Yeah I have a couple of mild allergies (I get an itchy tongue if I eat a specific turnip for example) and also mild to no cramping during my cycle. The latter more has to do with diet and exercise though.

My mom started to have an anaphylaxis reaction to something and just went to our family doctor. Just casually asked if there were any openings for that day. She was having a hard time moving at that point. Our doctor tore her a new one about not going to the hospital while waiting for the ambulance and treating her the best he could.

Love the eyelash extensions woman. She’s hilarious. I do them from my home & I am so tired of them getting mad because they sleep on their face, Cry among many other things. I’ve had clients book a relash & show up with about 20% on. That relash just turned into a full set. I remember one coming in at the 3 week mark with 10 on one eye & 5 on the other thinking I’m going to give her a relash. There are between 100-160 lashes per eye. Coming empty or almost empty is gonna be a full set. 😂 I can’t complain though I got great ones that just know what they need to book or others that come every 2 weeks instead of 3 maximum. 3 weeks or 50% still on whichever comes first.

on the allergic reaction thing: if you have swelling in the face it's normally time to go to the hospital. I learned that when someone close to me had their first reaction to bee stings. and also as fast as possible. things like these can escalate quickly.

I was 18 and didn't know any better myself. I had never taken penycillin and not only did my face swell, but so did my throat. When I couldn't eat anything more than tomato soup, I realized it was serious. My roomate had my car, so I walked 3 miles to the hospital. (No Ubers then) They said I was lucky and if I waited another day I would've died. So alot of it's being young and dumb.

The most embarrassing concert I went to was a 2002 SLC Olympics event concert. At the end of the big program, they had a smaller Macy Gray concert. Literally everyone started leaving when she got on stage. Our ride was stuck in traffic, so we just stayed there waiting. Before she was done with her final song, we were the only ones left. I actually felt really bad.

I felt that allergy one. The older I get, the worse my allergies get, which is a fun thing I inherited from my grandma. Recently, I used a lotion that I've used for DECADES, and now it gives me hives. Everywhere it touched, I looked like a strawberry. I don't even go for the epipen unless my throat starts itching, those things are like $130 usd and my insurance doesn't even cover them. Oh, and they expire after like a year. 😂

Insane to have to gamble with one's health because of money 😐Also, maybe the cream's recipe changed and there is something new in there you're allergic to? If you find an old tube somewhere, maybe have a look and compare; then you'll at least know one thing you react to.

An expire epipen is still considered very helpful but as long as the epinephrine solution is not greatly discolored then it should be fine after expiration if you really need it in a pinch.

As someone working in Emergency Medicine for 20 plus years that allergic reaction needed treatment but did not have any “life threatening” symptoms prior to getting to the ER. She was breathing fine, voice was not hoarse, no difficulty handling her saliva, no wheezing. She could have been treated with steroids and antihistamines and from what I saw did not need to go right to epinephrine.

My friend has such a bad allergic reaction, she has platypus lips, her arms swelled, eyes looked like hers in the video and wouldn’t take an ambulance. She said she had never been taken back at the emergency room so fast. She walked up to the check in window said, “I think I’m having an allergic reaction to grape juice” the person at the window said ok here fill out this paperwork and as she looked up she said oh, you can fill the paperwork out later, you can come right back here with me. I think they thought her throat would close at any minute and they would have a code blue. You never know how bad it can be, how quickly it gets bad, so please seek medical attention ASAP if you start to have swelling!!!!!

This is definitely one of the more severe reactions I’ve seen her post, but she has reactions that most of us would freak out about. But it’s just every day for her. Which has desensitized her, to understanding when something can actually be dangerous.

The whole point of the EpiPen is to use it when you start experiencing the symptoms and immediately call 911. It is also recommend it to have a second Epi-pen in case the first injection wasn’t enough. Both my son and I have EpiPen‘s and my 29-year-old son has been carrying it on his person since he was six years old. 😢 mine in my purse and there’s one for each of us iin a cupboard in the kitchen. I lost a good friend was was in his early 30s when he went out for lunch with friends from work. He was aware that he had a nut allergy but for some reason decided to leave the emergency injector in his car. By the time someone got to his car to get it, he had passed away before it could be used. Take this seriously people! Charlotte you’re amazing! I come from a long line of redheads however my hair is more strawberry blonde. I had two grandmothers, a mother and a sister, 1 great nephew, 2 nephews, 2 great nieces with bright red hair. I should also point out that my other sister and her daughter both married Ginger’s! Keep on doing what you’re doing Charlotte! You have such a positive attitude and your humour is infectious! Your videos of kept me entertained many times while in hospital recovering from various surgeries. I Thank you for that!
