It’s a little late, but you should have a fuse box to blow if too much amperage occurs down the line. Also, for future reference, above the lights you should put some reflective material to bounce the radiant heat away from your foam. Other than that some fine work you have there.

That electric panel is looking REAL good. Good thing to use for the insulation near the wiring is some stuff called "Great Stuff" it's an expanding foam insulation that fills the gaps around wires and has the added benefit of making the wires stop vibrating keeping the wire fatigue to a minimum for wires that are permanently installed behind walls and such. Keep up the great work :)
@OregonBatman4 жыл бұрын
Thanks DR... I didn't think of using the spray foam, good tip for next time!
@wesleypipelayer76274 жыл бұрын
I hope you didn’t forget about the wiring you need for all the running and brake/turn signal lights. I never saw you add wires going into your hatch, for your brake/turn and license plate lights. So hope you have an alternate idea for that.
@OregonBatman4 жыл бұрын
No sir... haven't forgot. All wiring will be under trailer, and I am thinking about installing the lights on the fenders. Will most likely be the last thing I do.

As always, this is a perfect walkthrough at every step. I'm watching from the beginning and was waiting for you to complete it before asking for the plans to have the final version, but I won't mind paying for those since it's well deserve and well made (and way cheaper than buying a trailer). The videos alone could be a "Build you own teardrop" DVD that worth paying for! Thanks again for the quality material!

OregonBatman are you going to put lights at the doors for night entrance? By the way I'm disabled and couldn't build my own trailer, but I like watching your build.
@OregonBatman4 жыл бұрын
Hi George, I didn't install entrance lights, and so far... don't really need them. Might look for a small solar light to stick by the door to help find the trailer at night in the campground. Thinking I would need a couple flood lights on top to keep the bears away! :) Thanks George for watching the build, it has been a lot of fun!

Man, doing all this while also modifying the plans for a 5x8 vs 4x8 seems pretty difficult, but this is fun to watch. Question though: No insulation on the sides? Or does the Filon count as insulation? Does it have an R value?
@OregonBatman3 жыл бұрын
I opted for no insulation on the sides... the little R value it would provide didn't seem worth the effort. The filon wouldn't have much R value. I don't do much winter camping. :)

Hi from Ottawa Ont. Canada. You have a fantastic channel thanks so much for doing what you do. I, we have all learned so much from you. One question where do you buy your filon?
@OregonBatman4 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much John! I purchase my filon from Affordable Rving 15555 SE McLoughlin Blvd, Milwaukie, OR 97267 Phone: (503) 659-3610. They will ship also!

Another great video! I would be tempted to use spray foam insulation to fill in those little gaps where the wires are along the sides, but the way you did it looks very clean. Nice shirt! I have one question regarding the silver foil backing on the rigid foam insulation... is that a moisture barrier, and if so, in the orientation you have it, with the silver on the top side, I suppose it's functioning as a barrier to keep moisture from getting into the roof cavity from outside, rather than a barrier against condensation from the inside?
@OregonBatman4 жыл бұрын
Thanks T455! I suppose the silver backing is more of a "reflectit" material most likely for the R value. Both sides have a barrier sandwiching the Styrofoam. While one side has the silver backing, the other has a plastic membrane. For the amount of time a person spends in one of these typically... I'm not too worried about condensation (we'll just crack the vent open a bit!) :)
@toronado4554 жыл бұрын
@@OregonBatman OK that makes sense. (I wasn't sure if there was a plastic membrane on the opposite side.)

Really O Batman, you make your own t shirt. Wow, I am interested. At first I thought you were selling the online t shirt everybody sells and almost missed that you make them yourself. As far as the plans...I got them from you 25 or so episodes ago however you have provided me the perfect entertainment for the last six months, not just watch but learn also. Better show than anything on TV. Anyway I am going to send you my email and USPS address for two reasons, first because I want to support you for providing great videos and second because if you made any changes to the plans since last September, I want them. Thanks so much for having broad enough shoulders to resist the less than friendly commenters. You would't know how wonderful some people are if you didn't have a few assholes to compare them to. I can't believe you make your T shirts ;-)
