i respond to all types of comments, both positive and negative. that's my job. this is what I do for a living, so interacting with my audience is important to me. i've always actively answered comments. it's something that sets me apart from other KZbinrs and also helps me learn about my audience. even if we don't agree, answering comments helps build my relationship with other commenters and viewers.

I don't understand how you can hate someone because of the way they were born. It is so confusing to me. I'm not talking just about homosexuals either. I just can't wrap my mind around pure blind hate because you don't agree with how they live. To me that is like hating anyone who paints their house purple because you don't think that purple is a correct color for a house to be. Doesn't that just sound crazy, so how can you even judge someone without really knowing them. Don't get me wrong I am not perfect. I once judged jocks because I thought they were all cocky and testosterone driven. But then I actually talked to some of them and some are good friends of mine. I mean if course I still hate some of them, but I don't like them because of their personality, not because they play sports. So all I can think is how many anti-LGBT supporters actually know who they are. Correct me if I am wrong but I feel like most anti gay supporters don't even know anyone who is gay. By no means is this comment meant to offend either stance of the argument. I just can't understand why you have to hate someone because that are different from you.

if you read the comments people left on Oreo's page, they were most certainly hateful. you might have to enlarge the video to read them, but i also linked to a blog post featuring screen shots in the video description box. there's a difference between boycotting and telling people they should die, go to hell, or get AIDS because they're gay. that type of hate speech is bigoted and homophobic.

companies sell products by relating to their customers. everyone does it. that's why they do special promotions and ads for mother's day, christmas, big movies, the olympics, charities etc etc. given that, i don't see anyone publicly boycotting because not enough companies are doing chanukah specials

you do bring up an interesting issue. most companies support charities of some kind, but not all of them use that info to market their business. the same goes for politics. public figures, celebrities and brands support campaigns and causes all the time without telling the general public. i think it's a matter of personal preference.

i honestly think it's both. i'm sure they hoped it'd get publicity, but they did have to take a risk by creating the ad in the first place. i'm sure there are dozens of brands that support gay rights but aren't willing to publicly say so because they aren't as large and the backlash would really hurt their business.
