Dear Cas, Please don't use red-dyed hummingbird nectar because it can be harmful. Most feeders have red on them to attract the hummers. You can buy clear or make your own: Combine a ratio of 4 parts water to 1 part table sugar. (Never use honey, molasses, or artificial sweeteners or dyes). Bring the water to a boil to break down the sugar completely. Once the mixture is cool, fill the feeders. Refrigerate what you don’t use between fillings.
@minimaladjacent4 ай бұрын
and change it often... IDK if thats daily or every other day?
@donnamikolai7404 ай бұрын
@@minimaladjacent - How often should I empty and clean the feeder? The National Audubon Society recommends: ANSWER: In hot weather, the feeder should be emptied and cleaned twice per week. In cooler weather, once per week is enough. If your hummingbirds empty the feeder with greater frequency, clean it every time it’s empty. Cleaning with hot tap water works fine, or use a weak vinegar solution. Avoid using dish soaps, as this can leave harmful residue in the feeder.
@lauramonson51824 ай бұрын
Boiling sugar water in the microwave has 2 downsides...it boils over easily and makes a sticky mess & moving a hot glass is tricky ...An easier way to make hummingbird nectar is to fill a quart/ glass jar about 1/4 full of sugar then top with boiling water and stir... especially easy if you have a kettle that boils water...I can make 4 at a time and leave them to cool out of the way... also...tap your feeders often to remove bubbles and let more sugar water drop... and if your water turns cloudy it needs to be changed

Don’t just leave them in there with no food on them for the next time you use the air fryer because usually you forget they are in there and then hit preheat and it can start a fire. They work great. I love them! But you just need to only put them in the air fryer when you are about to put food on them…..and when the food is done cooking, be sure to throw the liner away (if not a reusable one). And don't put a new empty one in until you are ready to cook more food again. Hope that made sense.😂

It worked great: It was super fast and left no streaks whatever. I did my double patio doors in about 2 minutes!

Sonnet me get rhis straight...your cat turns the bow of water over??? I have been a cat mama for over 30 years and never not once had a cat do that....until 5 years ago when this precious kitten came up and my husband took him in. He is the absolute worst at this. Every. Single. Day. My husband recently bought yet another non slip bowl and he did all the catath and finally figured out how to move this one. If this is what you are talking about please respond and idc how much I have to pay for a bowl. Our poor doggy has her own bowl of water when she goes to bed with me at night. She won't drink out of HIS bowl because he bathes in it and cat litter comes off his paws. We have a litter robot downstairs so he has to come back upstairs to the main level for his water. You'd think all the litter would be off by then.

Before cell phones and doors with key core locks, I know of some parents who used to have latchkey kids that either kept loosing the house key or the parents didn't want them to loose the house key when they were at school, so the parents used to have the house key on their (large) dog's collar! Lol After all, the large dog wouldn't let anyone else get that close to the dog in his own backyard to GET the key, and then the kids didn't have to worry about where it was during the day!!! ;)

great ideas. Just wanted to share this info....The Cornell Lab of Ornithology strongly recommends against using red dye in feeders: "There is no research that proves red dye is safe for hummingbirds, and very compelling anecdotal information from experienced, licensed rehabbers that hummers who have been fed dyed food have higher mortality and suffer tumors of the bill and liver."

I worry about all that sugar and their poor little pancreas. I have chronic pancreatitis and am having an episode now.

The sugar is good for them. It supplements the nectar they get from flowers. Make your own nectar: 1/4 cup sugar per 1 cup water. Boil water, stir in sugar til dissolved. Let cool

Cas, it literally broke my heart to hear you call yourself ugly. You are a LOVELY woman and I’m so sad that you don’t see that in yourself. You have a great personality that I just adore, but I’m talking about your physical appearance. You have stunning eyes, great style, the most adorable nose EVER, perfect eyebrows. It’s obvious you take care of yourself and care about your look, always such fun necklaces and earrings! Please Cas, go to a mirror right now, look at yourself and keep repeating “I am beautiful” until you see what I do. 🩷

For your outdoor kitty…a hack to keep ants away from their food! Go to DT, grab a large plastic dog bowl, fill it 1/4-1/3 w/water..then fill your cat bowl with her food and place in center of dog bowl w/water. Ants can not cross the water and no more kitty food, or dog food getting swarmed with ants!💕

Those gloves I truly amazing. I've had them for a minimum of 10 years might even be more. They look pretty much like when I bought them. You do have to wash them of course from time to time, but they are lifesavers.
