Dear Cas, Please don't use red-dyed hummingbird nectar because it can be harmful. Most feeders have red on them to attract the hummers. You can buy clear or make your own: Combine a ratio of 4 parts water to 1 part table sugar. (Never use honey, molasses, or artificial sweeteners or dyes). Bring the water to a boil to break down the sugar completely. Once the mixture is cool, fill the feeders. Refrigerate what you don’t use between fillings.
@minimaladjacent6 ай бұрын
and change it often... IDK if thats daily or every other day?
@donnamikolai7406 ай бұрын
@@minimaladjacent - How often should I empty and clean the feeder? The National Audubon Society recommends: ANSWER: In hot weather, the feeder should be emptied and cleaned twice per week. In cooler weather, once per week is enough. If your hummingbirds empty the feeder with greater frequency, clean it every time it’s empty. Cleaning with hot tap water works fine, or use a weak vinegar solution. Avoid using dish soaps, as this can leave harmful residue in the feeder.
@lauramonson51826 ай бұрын
Boiling sugar water in the microwave has 2 downsides...it boils over easily and makes a sticky mess & moving a hot glass is tricky ...An easier way to make hummingbird nectar is to fill a quart/ glass jar about 1/4 full of sugar then top with boiling water and stir... especially easy if you have a kettle that boils water...I can make 4 at a time and leave them to cool out of the way... also...tap your feeders often to remove bubbles and let more sugar water drop... and if your water turns cloudy it needs to be changed

I don’t know if anyone else had mentioned this, but on the garlic peeling- that knife that you had sitting on your cutting board can instantly peel the garlic if you smash the blade sideways against the garlic clove. So what the first comment meant was that you need food on them to use them. Don’t just leave them in there with no food on them for the next time you use the air fryer because usually you forget they are in there and then hit preheat and it can start a fire. They work great. I love them! But you just need to only put them in the air fryer when you are about to put food on them…..and when the food is done cooking, be sure to throw the liner away (if not a reusable one). And don't put a new empty one in until you are ready to cook more food again. Hope that made sense.😂

Yeah, it does. But it contains petroleum, which I get more & more sensitive to as the years go on. So if it irritates my nose & lungs, I can only imagine how it affects birds & other pets.
