What is it like for foreigners to walk outside of the tourist spots in Tokyo? Welcome to my neighborhood in quiet suburban Tokyo. My roommate and I walked around speaking Chinese and Japanese and interacted with people in the neighborhood. Japan is becoming more and more international and foreigners like my roommates and I can be seen more and more commonly in Japanese neighborhoods. This is what it's like for us to live here. See us eat delicious Chinese and Japanese food.

On April 25th it will be the 1 year anniversary of this channel. In late February 2020, this channel had just 200 subscribers. I’m thrilled that it has grown so fast. I used to be really happy if I could get just 1 subscriber a day. Now there are lots of friends here gathered to share adventures with! Thank you. -Anming

Another great video, Anming-san. It's refreshing to see videos of interactions with real people, whether you just talk about mundane stuff or somehow stray into a really specific topic. I have a suggestion for future videos: Try talking with people with strong regional accents? For example, Kansai-ben or Kagoshima-ben? Maybe have them say a popular phrase and have you figure out what it means. Then maybe a video where you can share your observations on the accents of people who speak Mandarin but are from the mainland, Taiwan, Singapore, etc. Hope you get to read this, stay safe!

Skip S. America, due to crimes, kidnapping, drug cartel. They'll just grab you/kill you in broad daylight, in front of ppl. Cops are crooked too. I have a white female friend, she does the whole Ayahuasca spiritual thing in Peru. Fluent in Spanish. The entire town knows her. She still has to be careful where she goes. Even popular tourist resort, like Acapulco, get shot up in daylight at the beach. Middle East is somewhat ok. Depends where you go. I was in the Air Force in the 90's. Been to Turkey, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait. We were told not to stop if someone hits us with their car. Even had a fuel truck blew up outside the wall in Saudi. Had a few friends who died there. One day they're there. The next day they're gone...... Safest place now is Asia, Australia, any Caribbean islands (like St. Thomas, St. Martin). Europe has become a shithole. It was awesome in the 90's. Used to live in Germany for 1 yr. Now muslim immigrants destroyed it. There are "NO GO" zones where even the cops don't even go there. Africa. Just go to any hood, like Compton CA. Detroit. Chicago. Ferguson. South of I-20 in Atlanta GA.

I stayed in Matsudo in a house for a week with my family and the locals around the neighbourhood were all so friendly. Not just polite, but really welcoming and friendly in a way I hadn't expected. My wife and I had learnt some basic Japanese so we would practice it with them, and my kids have bright red hair so they got a bit of attention as I expect children with red hair is not common. I thought it was a far more interesting experience than a central hotel room that we could have paid much more for and found a lot of cool little shops and food places while we were there.

Wow, that moment when you click on random suggested video, about random Tokyo neighbourhood, and it happens to be the same neighbourhood you also live in ;-) The sakura are awesome next to that river (when blooming) - you probably did it already but the walk from where you are to Oji along that river (well, more like a canal), and then on to Asukayama is quite the cherry blossom viewing experience.

No freaking way! I'm floored. lol Hey neighbor, funny to see you here on KZbin. :) Yes, there is lots of sakura footage on this channel from that river. Please check it out.

@@OrientalPearl Just doing a bit of research on it now, the type I had is the same as you, yatsuhashi (Which is an interesting name, kind of like the number eight and bridge.. I wonder how it got that name). But it wasn't green tea flavoured, it must have been sesame with red bean paste inside. I wonder if a link to a photo of me at the tea ceremony will work. ibb.co/wYZp1Ky
