This is a great way of testing clubs. Instead of a pro just giving their opinion, a pro against a decent mid handicap testing 2 clubs indoors and outside. Arguably the best test I´ve seen in a long time, maybe ever. And the first time I´ve seen Orka tested. Good stuff Dan!

Absolutely awesome review!! It's great that there are a lot of standard review vids out there. I take them all in so when I got to test and think about a new club I don't just have 1 opinion. It's just refreshing to see a different spin on it. Just enough tech/numbers but straight talk on looks, feel, how it makes you feel as a golfer at address. For me this is needed in the review space very different but a needed change of pace. I can't wait to see the keep coming. Being from the United States I will use a phrase that is original to us!! You knocked it out of the park!!

I bought a set of Tour Edge Exotics EXS last year and they are nothing more than shovels bent to strong loft. I hit them well but I hated looking at them. They are forgiving and long (lofted ridiculously strong, 27.5° 7 iron) but they look awful. So I just replaced them with some Titleist 716CB 6-P and then a T100 5 Iron. Will probably put a 4 iron in the bag in TMB or the new equivalent. The Titleist are everything I want. Beautiful clubs. Yes, they punish me on miss hits compared to the Tour Edge, but I actually feel more confident with them behind the ball. There is so much real estate on the face of the Tour Edge I feel like it encourages errors almost. The Titleist makes me feel like there is less room for error, I feel like I will take more care in my swing and have found that to follow through on hitting them. Love the video, great idea and look forward to future instalments.

Nice job boys. I am with you Dan, when I look down at an iron and see a big fat chunk of metal, I almost sigh..my swing gets all out of whack and I try to sweep through contact. I’m not saying I’m any good, actually just get back into the game after a 15 absence due to a back injury, but i seem to hyper focus when I look down at a compact blade, now I just have to get my swing speed back, that’s a convo for another day.

Not having categories for “Forgiveness” & “Performance” are big omissions in my eyes. As you have set it up, the only clubs that will score high are forged blades because they have weak lofts, feel, sound and look amazing. You need categories that blades don’t perform well in to rebalance the scales! Otherwise a good concept guys
@bdeheton64454 жыл бұрын
Let’s see a few older irons still available on the 2nd hand market thrown into the mix to see how they stack up to “modern” irons (MP-32, MP-33, 620, 680, etc.). A few more of the lesser known brands like these Orka’s would also keep it interesting and shine some light on great brands and clubs most golfers don’t even know about.

Interesting idea, but docking points for lower lofts means that the clubs for better players eg blades, mbs etc will tend to dominate. Feel they should also include forgiveness factor on off-centre hits to balance things out.

Great idea, well-done Guys! I would suggest an additional category, "Forgiveness" as it's probably the most important consideration when selecting a Club. The Orka would have scored an "8" and the Titleist would have been a "5" (because you are punished on mishits.

@darrencasey75104 жыл бұрын
I do agree with Dan about the smaller heads promoting more focus... or to be more accurate, allowing less available area to hit at it with. I love when the ball basically covers the majority of the face because that makes me feel that the only place you _CAN_ hit it is in the center. Saying that a higher percentage of the face *IS* actually "center" hit - make sense? If i have 1/2 inch area i want to hit the ball in, on either club, that's _more_ of a 3 inch long head than it is of a 4 inch long head. Regardless if the larger is more forgiving, center is still center... and it can get lost in such a large implement. Just like taking 300 words to say the same thing 100 words could say can displace the point... like im doing now. 🤣🤣🤣

Good video like the new content... First heard about Orca golf after watching a fitting review about 2 years ago now , but when I researched the company a little more the reviews were horrible and not concerning the equipment but it was mostly to do with customer service and support and if it had only been 1 or 2 I wouldn't have been to concerned but the amount of negative feedback was just to much for me to take the plunge and eventually I ended going up to close house golf course and getting fitted there .

The thing i like about this is it shows that you cant put a handicap level on a certain club...its more about your ball striking ability and clubhead speed...im single figure but couldnt handle a blade or your small cavity to save my life...no speed and not a great ball striker...so i end up using game improvement clubs.....where as you have the speed...but maybe your failing would be somewhere else....its a very interesting conundrum

Much more interesting and applicable for most golfers than the numbers game,I would however question the marketing of Orka and their 'quad-forging',presumably they mean it's forged four times (rather than two or three) which in reality would compress the steel further and make it harder not softer,basically just bullshit like Nigel's amp going to 11!

I like this. maybe not get why as much loft as possible is a good thing, cause different players needs different lofts. Just saying. And how can mb not be a 10 on workability, cause I cant imagine any club having more workability. Just my opinion though. Love this rating system cause I think it tells us something. Have had a debate with Mark Crossfield on this and he completely disagrees with me cause he means everything is almost the same, nothing is bad and nothing really good. Its just different. And I respect Mark, a great person, I just disagree on this. I want to know what clubs are the best in the reviewers opinion.

35˚ for a 7i will always be skewed towards players irons (blades). I guess in the "game improvement world" the current average is more like 30˚ and even lower for super game improvement irons.
@mrwoo334 жыл бұрын
Great idea but given Dan's striking and idea of what he thinks a club should look and feel like, modern forgiving irons may as well not be in the test. And given the majority of golfers are 12 and above, the test could end up a little pointless. Can't see cleveland launcher, cobra t-railand Wilson launch pad irons doing anything 😢
