Different generation. Those of us who grew up playing blades do not fear them, at all. They are a thing of beauty and a pure joy to hit. Even on days when the ball striking is not there, they do not punish you as severely as many assume.

this was my experience with blades too! I just hit them better, didn't expect to. I hypothesize that the lower moi allows me to move the head more easily, so there is no delay between my force and manipulation of the head. also the turf interaction and cg location, which are more conventional reasons. I curved my Mizuno mp-h4 irons more, my muscle backs (Callaway apex mb '14) fly straighter, and so I would only say they are workable in that they curve the way I intend more often.

Went from a set of T200 to the 620 CBs to get more shape. Oddly enough, I am hitting them the same distance and feel like I get less draw with the CBs. But I definitely noticed the turf interaction was much better for me with the CBs. Something about the forged head just feels like butter.

I bought a set of T300 but not bc I needed more launch and spin with the irons. I had and sold a set of 716 AP1’s and that was a mistake bc I didn’t (still don’t) have a lot of time to practice and yet my scores were great compared to what they should have been. They are very consistent, forgiving beyond belief, feel great for a “game improvement” club, not offensively big - in fact quite playable, and the quality is excellent. I play off a 12 but I think more people should give the T300 a look/see. And for $1000 for a set of 8 it’s not going to upset the bank manager

I had a really similar experience to Matt with MBs except perhaps more surprising because I'm a higher hcp (honest 17), but my scoring irons have always been good relative to the rest of my game. I went in to trade up from my cobra F7s, looking at something along the lines of an Apex forged, T200, Forged TEC etc. Nothing really jumped out at me but as kind of a "what the heck" moment I tried the Cobra MB/CB irons. I thought about them for two months after, reading every bit of marketing material telling me they weren't the right club for my skill level etc. But at the end of the day they just performed great for me, I got fit into them, dispersion was tighter than the forged TEC by about 30% for me with the KBS Tour 120. They're in the bag now P-7 MB, 6-4 CB. I've only played a couple of rounds, plus it's end of season for us here and the courses are pretty squishy from rain, but I'm already playing to my hcp with them and really enjoying the "training wheels off" feeling. I know exactly where the ball is before I even look up from the shot, especially on a mishit; the feedback is just awesome. Just shows, everyone golfs differently and how important it is to get fit into your clubs, so you know quantitatively what works best.

Every one of these multiple club tests is the same. Fitters and testers everywhere treat the pure blade as some kind of impossible club to hit and then every tester, high or low handicap, has a more consistent result with blades or at least an equal result almost every time. I played for 20 years with mid-80s Wilson blades and had no idea they were impossible to hit for a weekend golfer until KZbin told me so. Personally I think it's mostly a load of shite. The real issues with these clubs for weekend golfers are in the longer irons because we tend not to hit the ball high or have enough swing speed to get them high. IMO an ideal set for most weekend golfers is a mixed set with more blade like or cavity irons from 7-8 and up, and something below that that can help get the ball airborne like hybrids or more GI irons.

Funny how he didn't respond to the truth! I bought a set of Taurus plus oversize irons 6-sw. They are blades and I didn't know it. They have a slightly bigger face then most name brand blades. @Skumtomten110 ай бұрын
@@josephdurkin8180 Everything in this world is directly or indirectly driven by one single thing, money/sales. My theory is this: blades have alot less room for creativity and engineering, it's mostly just a piece of metal thats going to be roughly the same with each iteration. CB's can be alot more engineered, each iteration having more drastic change in looks and characteristics. Hence, the CB:s are are lot marketable, with words like "forgiveness" and hitting it longer and such can be claimed about the next iteration, which isn't really the case with blades. The incentive for an average golfer is higher to buy new clubs with improved performance, or claimed improved performance, so essentially they want customers to go for CBs because it can increase sales and more demand for every new iteration for the type of club.

I am curious to learn why a golfer would prefer an iron that flies lower and shorter than another? "Workability"?
@clubchampionmedia5 жыл бұрын
Depends on the player's current ball flight, handicap, preferred shot shape, etc. More commonly a player would be looking for more height and distance
@BrianAudia5 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason, the reason to choose an iron that spins more but flies shorter for better players is usually to produce exact gaps for the entire set and to be able to hold greens at specific distances. My LW carries 95. SW 109. GW 122. Therefore I want my PW "weak" at 47* so it only carries 133. That means I need my other irons lofted to match. So 9i 145. 8i 156. 7i 169. 6i 181. 5i 192. 4i 205. Hy 218. If I played jacked up lofted irons that delivered much higher ball speed then I might hit my PW 150 leaving a huge gap between my GW and PW, plus I would not be able to control it as well. Hope that makes sense.
