Aha, finally people is South India known about water apple, in Sri Lanka we called this fruit as Jambi, this grows in South Sri Lanka more. I have a big tree in Sydney Australia, every year my tree bear 800 to 900 fruits.Unfortunately hardest job is protect the fruit , there is small fly called fruit fly, when the fruit about mature this fly come around and lay eggs on the fruit. The lava will enter the fruit and live inside and eat the flesh and live there.. when we pick the fruit , it has full of worms. The other energy is parrots, these birds come early morning and make big noise and eat the fruit, the stem of water apple is so soft, so it fall down easily. The result is hundreds of fruits are on the floor. Pain full experience, finally last year my husband called someone and cut few big branches, now only very few on the tree. Now is the season I have around 100 fruits on the tree, I covered with brown bag( avilable in here for lunch pack) . But Asian people have farm and this fruit come in their shop for sale. Not sure how do they protect. Please anyone read my long story, please give an idea , how to protect this fruit.

My country called this jambu merah, but be careful when you eat it. There'll be tiny worm on a ripe fruit. Cut into half and wash with water with salt first before consuming it.
