nice example of true craftsmanship ,...I stopped the video when you held it up , and something happened to my vision ...I swear i saw facets in the valve covers and the head,...it turned into a precious gemstone ,...quality like this will never occur again,...and I have never heard of their steam engine line of kits or running models those have to be spectacular as well,...MERRY CHRISTMAS , AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU ARE CELEBRATING , Rock On ! wow, this engine is pure nostalgia for me, I had one in the early 90s, in a 140cm low-wing model that at least didn't lack power and was stable at the same time

I have the same engine right now in a big Senior Kadet that I use to teach new pilots or to detox my fingers from all the acro speed demons, an old friend of mine gave that engine to me back in 2002 with a broken intake and completely gummed up, I fixed it and used in many planes since, OS quality is the best.

That was THE engine for a Goldberg Aniversy Cub! Every one a saw had an os 70 except mine which had a Saito 65.

Haha!!! My Great Planes Cub had a Saito 65 in it!!! So true about the 70 Surpass in most Cubs though. kzbin.info/www/bejne/noXInKiloqxnaLM

Beautiful engine. I never knew OS made model trains. I wouldn't be surprised if the quality was better than Lionel.

I recently found a FS-120SE on eBay. It is going into an old Funtana 100X. It should be a hoot, old school style!

Thank you for sharing this lovely video and sentiment, David. I recently had similar joy when receiving a New in box Saito Fa40a that I plan to put in an old 54inch Druine Akrobat model , after a full refurbishment and conversion from electric 🥴. Similar to yourself, I have a passion for these mechanical items of beauty. All the best for the New year. Keep it up. Any suggestions for prop size for breaking the Saito in?
@dmrcflyr218 күн бұрын
I would just select a pro size recommended in the manual. Saito doesn’t specify break in pros like other manufacturers do. www.horizonhobby.com/on/demandware.static/Sites-horizon-us-Site/Sites-horizon-master/default/Manuals/SAI-Small-Medium_engine_manual-lo.pdf

@dmrcflyr2 Thanks, I went for 11x5 with a rich mixture, at least I didn't over rev it. Seems grand, it just got too cold to continue cheers. 👍

@dmrcflyr2 Cool, up to about 8.5rpm rich, so in the ball park. Cheers 👍. I will continue when the weather is above baltic.
