In Titus's defense, Superman 64 was a mess in no small part because DC kept constantly insisting on incredibly stupid and counter-productive changes. IIRC they had to up and scrap the entire thing halfway through because DC didn't want Superman being depicted acting violently, which is also why he's inexplicably in a VR world. This looks like one of those rubbish examples of an Amiga platformer clumsily ported to a console, since those were more popular in the States than the Amiga was. Besides Oscar, there were more than a few SNES games like this: Blues Brothers, Jim Power, Zool, Alfred Chicken, several of the Ocean Software games... Many of them had a somewhat similar feel: non-linear platformers that mostly consisted of running around a big level looking for stuff, until you find them and are allowed to leave. I guess many developers thought the SNES would be most on-par with Amiga from a graphics standpoint, since they were both capable of sprite scaling, Mode 7, minor 3D capabilities, and a large colour palette. The SNES was preferred for more graphic-intensive Amiga ports. Unfortunately, hardware limitations such as a much slower CPU than the Amiga, less RAM, and a lower display resolution, held these games back. It usually left us with aimless platformers with ice physics as the hardware struggled to keep up, and the SNES's lower resolution meant the game "camera" couldn't be pulled back far enough for a comfortable play experience. The Amiga's smooth performance was compromised frequently here. Games that stayed exclusive to the Amiga, like Fire and Ice, or were ported to the more architecturally similar Genesis/Megadrive (Motorola 68K CPU, similar memory management) like Wiz 'n' Liz, James Pond or Chuck Rock, tended to fare better. This was if the game had simpler graphics, and the developer didn't mind MAJOR downgrades to the audio.

Considering the contemporary reviews I could find, Oscar wasn't all that well-received on the Amiga either. In a review from Amiga Power for Dangerous Streets (I was curious about how bad it really was), someone argued that Dangerous Streets and Oscar could easily turn people off the Amiga CD32 entirely. Like, yeah, there's some decently highly rated reviews for Oscar from the time, but the consensus seems to be that it's pretty mediocre.

Oscar was also released for the Amiga CD32 as a double disk with another game called Diggers, and in that version, the camera is fixed, but the controls might be worse, believe it or not. Aside from that, it looks extremely similar. Also of note, Dangerous Streets was re-released for the CD32 as well.

Wow the SNES version is totally different from the Amiga CD32 version. In just 6 minutes of video from the Amiga version I found... 1: The camera doesn't shift when turning around, Oscar stays in the center of the screen. 2: Oscar doesn't seem to move quite as fast, though it could just be my imagination. 3: Oscar actually has a different sprite based on the genre of movie. 4: The voice clips are clearer and Oscar's "Thank you everybody" is lower pitched. 5: There's 9 levels instead of 4 6: The weapon is a yoyo. 7: There's actually a score counter on screen, so you can see the random objects give you points. Not saying the amiga version is good either, just amazing to see how the SNES version seems to have gotten a bastardized version.
