The glitch that caused PBG's name to change into PBG um is actualy a screen swap glitch. You must have been playing with JumJum when it abruptly tuned into PBJ's death. Since the game programes a space as a confirmation letter after registering its name, the screen swap had to load 6 letters when PBG (space) occupies 4. The game then goes to the file that it changed from, JumJum's, and substituted the last two letters for his name, making it PBG (Space) um.

In the Japanese version, you could only have up to four letters in the Tamagotchi's name. Two additional "letters" are appended to the name, so it might be possible that the glitch happens in the Japanese version too. It might be possible that they forgot to account for the extra two letter slots added some time during late development.

I had the digimon tamagotchi (aka the first instance of digimon before, well, everything else digimon, was shaped like a bunch of bricks) back then. I remember that fondly because I took such extreme care of it it never died till the batteries ran out. I was a kid at the time and my parents promised me if I could take care of it I'd get a pet of my own...which a while later they did, and he was the best dog ever. weirdly smart for a dog too. had a dog breeder comment about how weirdly smart he was. he'd do things like pretend to be stuck behind a door barking only to use the ruse to trick you into giving up your spot on the couch and nab it. or hiding in the piles of leaves during fall (only found because of a wagging tail sticking out). and figuring out a way out of every confined space ever we had him in for whatever reason. if he wanted out he was out. He was great. miss him so much.

I can feel the pain of losing a beloved pet. I once had a pet that I named Lucy. (her full name was Lucy Fur Pickle.) The reason I say "I had a pet" instead of "My family had a pet" because this one little kitten we found in a shed with her sisters as little babies, was meant for me. The second I saw her little face, we bonded instantly. Her eyes were blue, just like mine! We both don't like attention, and the only difference we have (aside from I'm a human, she was a cat,) is our gender. I'm a boy, she was a girl kitten. I loved her soooooo much. But one day, when she was still a kitten, my mom came in and told me that sometime during the day, Lucy had walked onto the street (like the cute little clumsy cat she was :'3) and got ran over. I was just broken. She had just gotten past the "kitten" stage and started growing bigger and cuter, somehow. Now we have a cat that had her siblings die as kittens by being mauled and killed by a dog. Her name is Kiki, and we love her. She's an indoor cat, unlike Lucy, and she's about 2-3 years old, (older than Lucy ever got to be...) and she is the best cat ever, tied with Lucy Fur. Kiki's still alive!! AND WE LOVE HER!! MAY LUCY REST IN PEACE!! :3

I recently downloaded the ios app of Tomogachi after finding my old one in a box. I thought that was great idea for the series as its on a device your probally carry everwhere with you and check throughout the day. Spoiler alert, It was obnoxious and boring. The thing woulnt stop making notification pop ups about it being hungry or something every 5 minutes. At least it was free.

Himawari Uzumaki Theres also Digimon Unlimited that emulates the old "boys version" tamagotchi, the Digimon keychain pets if thats more your speed, but that one is only available through a 3rd party website right now while the app gets its licence back. Just google Digimon Unimited and you will find it. It has a bunch of neat added features too like how all the different pets from most generation Digimon keychains available (with an egg select menu and all) and online servers for battling so you dont need to know anyone nearby to do it.

Here in Britain around 2002 or 2003 Tamagotchis came back and everyone in my school had one. Even I had one but it died when I accidentally dropped it on the kitchen floor. My Tamagotchi always used to shit everywhere to the point where the shit began to stack. Seriously. I used to have to clear the screen every 20 mintues because there would be 10 shits everywhere!
