I did repo work in the Washington DC metro area in the late 80's. First, we NEVER informed anyone we were repossessing their property. We operated mostly at late at night into the early hours of the morning. We had a flatbed tow truck, we would back up to the vehicle being repoed quickly attach the cables and drag it right up onto the bed. We would be in and out in less than 5 minutes. The quicker and quieter the better.

The part people miss about repo man is the small comments in his promos. Repo man would say in his promos “this woman is 3 days behind she’s a thief” typically in real life repo agents don’t get involved unless you’re multiple months behind in payments. The villainy was in the fact he wasn’t giving people time to catch up. It was subtle and easy to miss, but that’s thats the villainy of repo man

So here's what I think. So Million Dollar Man has the other two on his payroll. He has IRS audit, or at least investigate the assets of whoever he's feuding with and figure out what they have that would be of value to him but also might have some overdue payment or dispute. He then pays Repo to go and take said item for him.

Repo men don't need permission to take your leased items if you're delinquent on your payments. Technically, whatever you've leased doesn't really belong to you until you've fully paid off the lease. It still belongs to the dealer or company you've leased it from. Repo men are usually hired by the dealer/company to *repossess* or "recover" that leased property (I've heard that repo men prefer being called "recovery agents", probably to avoid the negative stigma of being called repo men). And it's not uncommon for them to repossess cars at night because they know where you'll be and where the car is. Everyone has to go home eventually for meals and sleep at night. It also helps to avoid possible violent interactions with the lessee since they'll likely be asleep.
@Tarkenfire10 жыл бұрын
Sure it's already been answered about things re: Repo Man. The "sneaking around" thing is fairly common among repossession agents in the US. The general wisdom is that people don't like you taking their stuff, regardless of whether or not the repo man has the right to. If you do it without them knowing, then you avoid potential confrontations and possible physical altercations (and, in this country, possible gunfights). As for the outfit, I imagine it was just to make him more heelish, you know, fuel the notion that repo man == sanctioned thief that was always floating around. Then again, the image was somewhat justified, because it wasn't until sometime in the early 2000's that you saw repossession agencies start re-branding to a more friendly, for a lack of a better term, brand.

That feud was so good that I genuinely felt a little uncomfortable watching it when I was a kid. And yeah, the cobra biting Randy probably also had a lot to do with it because it was so gruesome and disturbing to see a venomous snake (devenomed or not) bite someone. But that goes to show how comitted both guys were to the angle. It's almost a shame when the feud got dropped so quickly for Macho/Flair, but I dunno how long both Randy and Jake would've been able to sustain that level of intensity without it getting worn out.

Knowing people who worked in Repo in the 90s (two of my friends had fathers who did it) it was far off, and not far off, of what they do. I remember one of my friend's dad explain to me that Repo work was done late at night where they would hot wire cars and pretty much steal them back for the people the car owners still owed money to. They stole them back, like criminals, because most of the owners were armed and, in the past, shot Repo men who attempted to get the vehicles (and other items) back. The would dress up in street clothes or something called black suit and they often wore masks in highly populated places as to not be recognizable to the public and communities they lived in. So, this is a caricature of a Repo man, sure. But the mask is even explainable down to the trench coat as well. Not sure how they do stuff in the UK and Ireland, but the people in the US can be armed to the teethe and you may not want to be seen trespassing on their property to repo something legal or not. b^^

According to Barry Darsow the repo man character was supposed to have turned face after survivor series and gotten a push with the IC title but the push never happened and darsow left the company about a year and a half later.

That many buys with less than a week's notice is actually very good for the time. I know around here, back then you couldn't just press a button to buy a PPV. You had to call the cable company and make sure they had an available box. If they did, then you could go and pick it up. It was a different box than the regular one you would use for cable TV. Don't remember if this was the one you had to hook up to your phone line too. Everything used to be a real hassle back in the day.

Why did Tunney strip Hogan of the belt, was it because when Hogan hit Flair with the chair Flair and at the same time caused Tunney to fall to the ground?

Jobbing to Virgil, is there any lower you can go in WWE? and in Jakes Promo he uses a line from the Pink Floyd song "one of my turns"

So in that bonus match at the end, the crowd is pretty firmly in Undertaker's camp. Is it because he's great, or because he was destroying the most worthless of the Hogan Mates?

When it started, both men used the running powerslam as a finisher... IMHO, WWF made a mistake by changing the Warload's finish...

The Steve's have no idea on how repo men work. They are sneaky to avoid confrontation and typically operate in the middle of the night or when the owner is away at work.

Here's two great trivia questions: 1) What wrestlers held the same gimmick and status as either a heel or a face for their entire career? 2) Who was the first WWF wrestler to hold all three titles more than once?

The Skinner joke is funny but Steve Keirn was extremely popular in the territories in a tag team called the fabulous ones & when Vince Sr. called Eddie Graham for an all American boy named Bob backlund to take the title from superstar Billy Graham , Eddie Graham said DuckArse would suck and that he should take Steve Keirn ( Skinner ) and he was right. The tobacco that Skinner chews in the ring is licorice. P.S. Jake's ppl promo in this PPV starts with Pink Floyd lyrics from the album the WAll

Allow me to say as a child born in 1980 and I grew up with the golden age of wrestling devout watcher since I came out the womb when Jake the snake at that snake on Randy savage i was 11. The many it’s such a funny thing now but back then on TV you didn’t see things like that for that time it was considered extremely violent to the point where WWF had a lot of backlash because little kids were watching this and we’re traumatized. It was not normal to see anything that violent even on cable. I remember watching it on a Saturday afternoon and it’s one memory that I will absolutely never forget I will never forget what I felt when I saw the first time the shock and they awe.

I know this is years old, but a couple years ago Jake said the python actually committed suicide the same night it bit Randy. Snakes killing themselves is very uncommon, but it does happen (usually by eating themselves)
