Thanks. That was a warning to me..... i need to check the service list before buying a GTE over a iD3. So, what does it cost to do yourself: Oil and filter: 60. Best oil too. air filter: 20 Interior air filter: 15 Sunroof Grease: 5 Wipers: bosch aero twin. 30 Brake fluid: 20 Injector cleaner: whaaaaat? Read the errors yourself: obd2 plug: then you know what faults they are talking about. =150 EUR, which is nothing. DSG.... Ill check what needs replacing there, and what servucing is really required. Only thing Ill let a garage do is the software updates and recalls and Air Con liquid and oil... Which they charged 70 EUR for last time.

Thanks for this video. Liked and Subbed with Bell! Very interested how you get on with this car. This will be my next car (at some point). Have a Mk5 sport at the moment but I tend to just run my cars until they need replacing. Probably should get a full BEV, but can't justify their cost to quality ratio - even the ID3's quality is a bit of a let down! Was thinking of a GTi or R, but as most of my driving is around town, I may as well do it under electric only! Also, can't charge at home, so I'll need a smaller battery or a very fast charger (cost prohibitive) which won't get me very far! Also the GTE can heat its cabin without being plugged in, which is a necessity here in mountainous Wales! You're lucky to find one with a sunroof. I will hopefully get one with the sunroof and Lane keep assist, but they're few around! Keep up the good work!
@ot2nie

Thank you sir, really appreciate it😉 I really enjoy the car, now having owned it for about 1,5 year! The more you can charge it, the cheaper it gets basically. If you cannot charge it and only drive it like a prius, it will be as cost effective as a regular 1.4 tsi but with the added power and extra features (pre-heating). Still a good deal i think, but the charging (yes or no) can be a deal breaker for some..

For example, a fuel-efficient car should also be a used Volvo v60 diesel hybrid. but it takes three hours to charge. or maybe a used Mercedes bluetec. it is a diesel full hybrid. . as far as I know so it does not need a charging cable for it either

@@JustinP301 Yes, ask if the battery has been replaced once (recall maybe?) A lot of GTE's had their battery replaced due to it and f you're lucky you can have a 170.000km car with a lot younger battery. The combustion engines in these cars are rock solid, so pretty much no risk in running it with high mileage (timing belt is probably the most expensive service part).

Thanks Jari!

It's not the cheapest so get to VW service. Sort of same prices here in Denmark. I complain about charging the battery EVERY time I have my car at a service. They claim it's because they have ignition on for the duration of the service and have service equipment attached to the car that draws power and YES - it makes sense on a non-hybrid car but the GTE draws power from the high voltage battery to charge the 12V battery when the ignition! Worst part is that for €11 You can easily charge the high-voltage battery from 0-100% ! Last time I got hem to charge the high-voltage battery without extra expenses after I complained, though :-D.

Hi Dutchman. Is it right that you have in the gte mode 100% electric power from the e-engine? Means that you gain 150hp+115 hp=265hp in the system? Dont you think the battery could explode or become weaker much faster than in the stock version?
@ot2nie
@ot2nie 3 жыл бұрын
That’s right! I have 102 E-hp (just like in E-mode) and about 170-180 TSI hp, so that’s 285 hp combined! I don’t think the battery could explode haha, because it’s temperature protected.. If this could damage the battery, driving in E-mode all the time will damage it as well and VW thought of that! The new Mk8 GTE has the same engine and also produces 245 hp with an equal power (but larger capacity) HV battery, so they basically ‘unlocked’ the battery from factory🧐

@ot2nie
@ot2nie 3 жыл бұрын

@ot2nie
@ot2nie 3 жыл бұрын

( echte kosten of heel groot deel winst ? )
@ot2nie
@ot2nie Жыл бұрын

Bosch AT (v+a) wissers was ik 4 tientjes voor kwijt. In totaal 440 euro. 😂

Mazda, Honda and Toyota are the only way to go, when it comes to buying a car. Every German car is designed to wear faster so they can empty your wallet, when you go to service. So why bother???
@ot2nie
@ot2nie 2 жыл бұрын
Because german cars give much better performance and a much more classy feel. But really that’s just personal preference and if you don’t care about that, then yes why bother..

@@ot2nie I agree. When it comes to performance, Germans are better performing. But my opinion was for reliability of cars, because service was mainly the subject of your video. And service is closely related to reliability. So as conclusion I can say: If you are a sort of person that enjoys fixing cars, and require a performance, yes germas is the way to go. But if you want to drive without caring if something breaks down, and you value the reability, Japanese cars are a must.

Just as reliable. Sorry that is the stuff of internet myths. Honda and Toyota sell hardly any in Europe, VW millions. Wear and tear parts for VW are therefore dirt cheap for VW. Service it yourself!

@jellyd4889 I don't know where you find that information. From the internet or somewhere else. But what I claim is personal experience. I had mazda, toyota, vw, and opel. I can say with certainty that Japanese are more resistant to failure (if there are any). Germans are designed with weaker parts, and they tend to require their clients frequently to visit their service dealer. All for profit. Look at the vw diselgate affair. That must tell you the strategy behind the scenes.
