He reminds me of what I read of Thomas Boleyn. An ambitious scheming social climber who used his daughter to advance his position in court. The big difference was that otto was already the second most powerful man. He just secured his power.

Well, he knows that Viserys is sick, that means he may die in a few years, thus Daemon would be King = Otto would no longer be Hand of the King. Thus getting his daughter to woo the king, would secure his position if she then gets pregnant and there is s 50/50 chance for it to be a boy. If it is, he's suddenly the grandfather of the future King and if Viserys then dies, he would be the de facto king untill his grandson grew up (15-20 years into the future). Plenty of time to make himself and his house even more powerful. Just like Tywin tried and nearly succeeded with aswell.

So that genuine feelings would develop between the two. Thomas Boleyn was am ambitious social climber from an old but obscure house. He used both of his daughters to increase his power and social standing. Thanks to Anne's marriage to Henry he became one of the most powerful men in England.

Even if he's "a villain" he's still my favorite character in this series. Daemon is my second favorite and despite being enemies him and Otto their chemistry is incredible in each scene. Brings so much intensity to the show. I wonder what's going to happen in season 2. Season 1 was absolutely amazing. So many great and memorable moments. But I still don't really get why Daemon is so hateful towards him. Maybe jealous because he wasn't Viserys's hand? I feel like he would have just ruined him as a king with his ego. Otto isn't like that.

Here's another reason why Otto did all this for his own ambition. When Viserys does die. Otto lets his body rot for 10 days so he could ensure he holds control of the red keep before finally announcing the desth of king Viserys publically.

In some peoples eyes, they don’t see him as a villain. They see him as someone that was trying to avert a major disaster that would’ve devastated a whole kingdom, but they don’t wanna say that his actions are heinous or they are just wrong. We all see here with our own eyes and our own ears that he has been manipulating the king ever since his wife’s passing. He didn’t keep the realm together he and his daughter divided the realm they had the best interests to follow tradition but they became traitors because of their actions.

It's like Elvis and Top Gun: Maverick for me this year in movies. Far and away my favs. Riding Caraxes and Syrax helps adds to their swag. We still haven't seen enough characters yet. Like Aegon II might finally be born by Ep 3 but is still a child. And it seems Helaena is a popular one with the greens by book fans. She's the one riding Dreamfyre which I can't wait to see next to Sunfyre. I can imagine Alicent moving way up once the beautiful, Olivia Cooke, takes over. One-eyed Aemond is another important member from the greens. We still haven't seen Laenor 🖤, Laena's brother. I believe he'll appear in Ep 3. Many GOT/HOT D reactors are Black people. Good to see them get more represented. We do see Laenor in the trailers and he's chatting with his cousin, Rhaenyra, along a beach. 💒 It's ironic. Otto Hightower would be my #1 for most hated character on HOT D by a wide-margin. He's despicable. He's the one I want to see die first. He's the real villain to all this. But he would also rank in my top 3 for favorites because I like bad characters if the acting is great and Rhys is great. To me, Matt Smith and Rhys Ifans really carry this show. The rivalry between Daemon vs. Otto carries this show. They enjoy trolling each other. It's the best so far until older Rhaenyra vs. older Alicent go at it. I'll admit, HOT D does feel smaller in scope due to we are only following fewer Houses. But I don't mind it. Easier to follow.

I love hating Otto. He gives me echos of the characters that set this show apart from the rest e.g Tywin, Orlena, Little Finger and Varys. Though he's far less sophisticated in his plotting.

He seems less sophisticated because we see his scheming play out while for others, we only see the results. If we saw Olyenna and Littlefinger's dialogue about murdering Joffrey, she would not look sophisticated. They only seem so because we only see the results. If we did not see Otto's POV, Otto would be just as sophisticated if not more. 2nd second-> becomes hand-> marries his daughter to king-> solidifies his power by having his grandkids as princes and dragon riders. If we only looked at Otto from a random person's POV, he is more sophisticated and accomplished than any other. Its just that we know what and how Otto did what he did, he seems basic since all the mystery is gone.

The show has a black bias to it, because of the intimate portrayals of Rhaenara, Viserys, and Daemon. But if you were a regular person in Westeros, I think it would make more sense to be green

House Hightower is still one of the most powerful if not the most powerful individual house in the war of the five kings, they have wealth to rival the Lannisters, a city to rival the Crownlands, Manpower to rival the Tyrells, they're the center of knowledge through the Citadel, the seat of the High Septon, and the only house currently practicing extensive use of magic, not to mention that they still probably have the dragon egg that was send to Ormund. Oh, and did I mention? there's a probability that they're the descendants of the Pearl Emperor from the Great Empire of the Dawn.
