Middle School English Teacher in the States here: The kids do have a sense of irony when it comes to Brain Rot vocabulary and slang. However, like you mentioned with Joey's dabbing, the more they use it, the more it gets sprinkled into their day to day speech. Moreover, the blurred line of slang vs. meme references is quite prominent. My 8th grade class explore the slang used in The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton, and compare it to their slang. A large part of modern slang is more reference influenced. That being said, I still take up the torch of the mid-30's teacher who uses their slang to the point where they cringe. Tbh I gyatt to do it otherwise I'll end up being sent to Ohio, deep within the Skibidi Dimension.

Something may look like it fits when you hold it up to your body but then you might find something isn't right, such as the sleeve length (especially the way a shirt fits under the armpits) or the inseam of pants. I suppose if you've bought from a brand before and know their sizing, this isn't necessary. Or if the item has some stretch, you could probably get away with not trying it on. For me, I shop only once every five or so years, so I definitely would want to ensure things fit so that I'm not buying thinking I'm the same size as years prior 😅

Regarding the MHA dub, people were complaining but its pretty accurate to camies character. In the japanese she's supposed to speak in very cringe slang and other characters are often seen not understanding her because of it. So while to us, seeing that dub line is cringe, to the japanese, seeing the japanese version is also cringe, its just not cringe to the english speaking audience watching sub because they dont understand the gyaru slang in the first place. Can't believe Joey doesn't know "Hoozuki no Reitetsu". It's such fun interpretation of japanese mythos.

I would argue that swag is probably what came before rizz, unless there was something in between that I missed.

My kid is literally 13. They do use these words, but they don't string them like that. That script was the epitome of "hello fellow children".

Joey is gonna look back at the highlights of his 30th birthday, and 1 of them will be about a baby hippo.

there are 2 types of 30 year olds: one that starts thinking they're old now and start having back pains, and ones who know 30s is just your 20s continuing and you're actually at the peak both physically and financially

39:41 they stopped doing press conferences a decade ago, but they usually still have a presence in most high profile expos. Though I do think most of the time they’re just showing off exclusive indies, but I know they did hands on with Pikmin 4 at certain shows before its release.

Rizz is a cringe word, but also cringe is a slang word that has become a part of modern day culture. I think cringe is a great example of that

1:20:00 This defiantly a case of an "hello my fellow kids" unless they are joking, no one would say it all back to back like that. I would agree that maybe like half of it would find its way into normal conversation

26:00 Regarding the shoes, my life got so much easier once I finally got down and measured my foot size in centimeters and then just looked for shoes that have the size conversion chart with cm sizes mapped to whatever numbers they are using. After that its just the width that is the questionable part, but I typically go for shoes with wide toe box so I don't have to worry about it.

Teacher here: kids 100% talk like that. I was walking by a group that said "you're such an Ohio rizzler." Another said "That's not very sigma." They 100% talk like that. They even use "unalive" in their essays.

If social media platforms aren't so afraid of death/dying. Unalive wouldn't be such normalized slang.
