Our Campsite Flooded! | 3 Nights of Birthday Camping Shenanigans

We took a longer camping trip to celebrate some birthdays and were joined by some good friends. We found a large dispersed campsite right along a river in one of our favorite areas of Washington. We were hoping to get lucky with the weather, but a thunder and lightning storm rolled in on the last night and our campsite flooded while we were all under the Slumberjack canopy trying to stay dry. It was still an awesome camping trip with great friends!

Not a dick move at all setting up a tent to “keep others away” we were camping up in Greenwater a few years back and had a beautiful site right on the river with a fire pit and all the goods. This lady and her 4 kids pulled in and started walking to and from the river through our campsite. I asked if they were going to be long and she said “oh yeah we’re gonna camp right over there, pointing to a small area. I almost lost my sh** but for the sake of the kids I kept my mouth shut and we packed up and moved on. I was heated! I will always bring a tent or two w me to “save a spot for my friends” People have zero etiquette when camping these days. 🙄

Completely legit to 'stake' an area for an 'in-coming' group. I do like my wood fires (lots available in ID/MT) but i always lug out my Incrik (SP) firecan propane pit. I bought it for a trip to Valley of the Gods where no wood fires are allowed. I had a Zoleo for awhile but had a few issues with. I see Apple is installing new IOS late Sept 2024 for all 14 & 15 iPhones which will have a SOS text feature even w/o cell coverage. May be a game changer, we'll see.

I use a little dish soap in my meat bee traps but never heard of using gas. Soapy water is cheaper.
