2:05 I struggle with the idea of gatekeeping people who genuinely want to learn about BLM but they're also 7+ years too late.. like BLM started in 2013 and racism existed before then lol. like we've been saying this forever and now that it's political people are JUST now speaking up about their privilege

This. I’m studying for STEP1 and I literally had to limit my social media time to 2 hours a week because it really affects your mental.

I 100% agree with you guys. I am approaching my Mcat date. It is so hard for me to focus because of what’s going on. I feel like they going to expect me to preform as well as the nonblack students. However they have the privilege to focus on their studies. Meanwhile I lost my job due to covid 19, I fear for my life in public because we are targets and my mental health has gone down hill. I love being black but the struggle is so real! Love you guys! Stay strong 💕 BTW Florida is getting so bad with the pandemic but they refuse to shut it down.

I can literally relate to just the title. As a growing health professional through my internships Proctor ships residencies I see that it’s harder for us. I constantly find myself having to walk through the hospital extra happy because I’m black because I don’t want people to think anything less of me. I say to those that are also becoming in a profession that is predominantly any other color than black. Common to think of it like this if we’re the only few that is there I would rep it to the day I die because I know that what it took to get here wasn’t easy.❤️

This is such a beautiful perspective. Pre-med is stressful for Black students who are about to take the MCAT. I’m not sure if you all seen everything going on with that. Dates canceled, changed, format changed! But you all said that in the video. Also recognizing intersectionality of going beyond just being Black, like sexual identity, gender identity, and discrimination we all face and how it is all compounded. Again I just want to say thank you all again for posting this!

Correction on my last comment, the voice recognition does not always work: my last comment said "be emphasized", when in fact I said "de-emphasize".

In discussions like this since black people are all over the world it would make sense to put in the title your national origin, because there are black people in CHILE although their population is very small they are there.

Thank you for presenting the video, ladies. And I say ladies not to be emphasized your academic and medical achievement but to emphasize that you to do conduct yourselves as ladies-- at least as far as I see. I also emphasized the fact that you were ladies to reinforce the notion that you should be treated like ladies weather from your class fellows, your instructors, or your patients. You have an obligation to treat your patients with respect-- I'm not familiar arity but respect. And likewise, your patience should treat you with respect and you can politely insist upon such treatment. What would former Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders do, if someone was to a dresser in a disrespectful manner?
