Today, we are trying our first Nanjing duck alongside a whole bunch of other Nanjing cuisine specialties. Nanjing, China has an unreal amount of delicious food to try, but this was by far our favourite food experience in the city.

What you ordered is Nanjing roast duck. There is another famous type which is Nanjing Salted Duck or named as Gui Hua Duck. They are not the same, but both very delicious.

When eating any dumplings in China, use a small plate with a little vinegar. When eating, put the dumplings on a plate and add a little vinegar before eating. It will taste better.

Dapeidang is indeed the place locals love to go. However you missed the pan fried beef dumplings. They are the best in the minds of locals. Try whenever you visit Nanjing again.

The roasted duck at Nanjing Impressions is an excellent choice, not so crazy about the duck xiaolongbao soup dumplings (not potstickers- those are panfried). But you guys missed trying the salted duck - that's really worth a try. Panfried dumplings are better dipped in vinegar / dumpling dip. The sweetness of sour plum juice suanmeitang is from added sugar.

Some Chinese dishes not necessarily have to go with rice, you eat the dishes first, then some fried rice, or noodles or dumplings at the end, then some desserts,by the way, don’t order too much, most dishes are meant for families of four, six or sometimes 10
