We are moored near the Bleeding Wolf on the Macclesfield Canal and heading to Congleton in preparation for our trip through Bosley Locks to the Macclesfield Canal. Has Spring Finally Arrived?
Paul & Anthony together with Dexter live full time but manage to work part-time, on a 57' Narrowboat, cruising the UK Canals and finding out what it's really like to be Living on a boat exploring the Nature and scenery on some of the best canals and rivers in the UK onboard a Bickerstaffe Narrowboat called Morning Star. New for 2023 we are having a brand new narrowboat from Oakums Narrowboats and are taking advantage of lithium, solar, and electric propulsion, the boat will be coal and gas free.

Fond memories. We lived on Park Lane in Congleton for 20 years and used to walk our border collie along the canal every day. He loved it, we wouldthrow his ball in the canal ahead of us, he would dive in and catch us up, he must of done tens of miles each day but nothi g stopped him we've even had to break the ice on more than one occassion so he could have his fun. Happy Days.

Hi Paul, Anthony and Dexter Dog. Loved the opening of this week's Vlog when Anthony was cruising backwards. I wondered, only for a minute, if Paul had given you (Anthony) the wrong directions!! I love it when you chat at the start of the Vlogs. So interesting listening to you both. Loving your new scarf Paul. "One Day More" always makes me think of Les Mis, such an amazing song, as I sure your friend's boat is. Dexter looks like he is nicely set up for the Summer after his lovely trim. Love that snail bridge. Are there many bridges like that still in operation? Such an amazing design (Snail Bridge). Anthony what an amazing cook you are. You can cook anything, and it keeps Paul happy. Goodness that was a tight squeeze under the bridge, well done Anthony. Love those snail bridges, amazing design but unfortunately, no longer needed practically. The bridges are definitely narrow. A lovely video, gentlemen! Thank you, as always. We both understand your desire for a new boat, but the colour of Morning Star is just incredible! The colour always reminds us of the time my wife and I went to see an exhibition of traditional art that included work by some of the greats - including many works by Hokusai - The man responsible for the famous Great Wave etc. Again,,,the colours were so striking. I do have a question about this week's installment -- Hypothetically, you are coming up upon another boat and you realize you might bump into them... how do you stop quickly? Can you reverse or do you throw an anchor? (Sorry, never really been on boats so I don't understand how they work.) Great maneuvering. I would be terrified of piloting one of those. Aww thank you Greg. The Macclesfield is a very special canal. Great question. In order to stop you have to slam the boat in hard reverse to stop. We were taught this in our helmsman training. You would be fine steering. Doesn’t take too long to get used to it 😊. We were so overwhelmed by the kindness of Beth. They are such good quality and the colours were superb. Another fabulous vlog! You've both really ignited my desire to get back aboard a narrowboat again. We had one about 20 years ago but due to family and work commitments, we had to let her sail away to pastures new with new owners. We've been seriously talking about the possibilities again, in maybe 2 or 3 years' time. Fingers crossed we can do it again as I loved it and have missed our narrowboat over the years. Lovely cruise along the Macc. Brings back so many memories. I always thought those bridges are called a snake bridge, never heard it called a snail bridge before (everyday is a school day). I can confirm those fake KFC are delicious, speaking from experience and tasting then them at your birthday bash. See you Sunday x

Sorry for the lack of commenting the last two weeks we finally have our master bathroom remodel done and has taken a lot of time away from our normal schedule. I will send pics. Happy Friday! 🤗 The scarves are really beautiful. Great workmanship and I love the vivid colors. I'm really anxious to know the color of the boat but I think the painting "reveal" would be exciting. I haven't a clue what color it might be so I'm looking forward to it. ❤ Good to know the KFC was good but it was for a limited time here so I never got to try it. I waited too long and it was gone. I'm vegetarian but I don't eat a lot of meat substitutes. Try the Impossible burger if you haven't already. It's very good to buy and cook for yourself or to have at a restaurant. The alternate meats are getting so much better than they used to be. 😊 It was 80F yesterday and is 52F today. A major drop like that makes 52F seem pretty cold when of course it really isn't cold at all. 🥰 Have a wonderful evening and weekend. ❤
