Here's another Curl Chat! We often make it too easy by degrading others who actually have mastered their own hair & length retention. But genetics is not the entire answer, it's a regular hair care. I'm not promising your hair will reach to the floor one day, but It can definitely get to waist & classic length, If you're willing to put in the work. Because not everyone wants long hair. Other a happy with a pixy cut or bob, it doesn’t mean they can't grow it long.😉

I don't wear wash n gos in the winter because my hair *will* touch my hoodies and thick jackets and coats but in the summer they're perfect because of the shrinkage. I grew my hair long wearing wash n goes mainly in the past so I don't believe it's impossible. I think the key is using humidity resistant products with high high hold. 11:25 that line about density. so many naturals are obsessed with retaining their shed hair and showing off how little hair they "lost" when detangling. Like regardless the hair has already exited the root so I don't get why they want to retain it in their hair... it's fallen out already and like you said can contribute to knots and tangles.

Thank you for sharing, I love it when I hear it‘s possible to grow the hair out while doing wash&gos. I‘m now at a slightly different journey because my hair is twisted. It’s gives me the freedom to not detangle my hair for a bit. 😇 We also do have winter season here, so I’ll just do it like you do and wear washngos once it gets warmer. I love the observation about your hair touching thick jackets and coats, that’s why I mostly walk out with head bands or satin beanies, so that I have least friction with my hair, even if it’s twisted. ❤️

Genetics def help with length retention (more durable strands) and how fast you can grow the hair but yeah some people overuse the term. I don’t think genetics is keeping most people at chin length 🤷🏾
@RabielleParfait

Exactly! Especially when their strands are on the coarse side.
@FoAdunni
@FoAdunni Жыл бұрын
@@RabielleParfait it depends. Coarse hair strands can be prone to dryness and splits. I experience this.
@RabielleParfait
@RabielleParfait Жыл бұрын
@@FoAdunni That’s true but scientifically speaking, coarse hair strands consists of all 3 layers of the hair shaft: Cuticle, Cortex & Medulla. So it’s more resistant than fine hair strands, that doesn’t contain any medulla at all. Pair it with dryness & brittleness when dehydrated. Fine hair will likely break & split faster, since it doesn’t contain that much protein layers that also supports the strength.

I know what you guys mean like there be videos showing how to grow hair overnight or an inch in one week that is impossible or hard to actually achieve. However I do find interest in the diy hair care videos that use ayurderic remedies, coffee, teas or fenugreek because there are actually scientific research to back up some of the claims.

@@Zee-dp1jm Me too! I’ve been watching those videos for years and follow many diy channels that have informative videos on this! 🥰If we look into commercial formulations, we usually find a lot of those ingredients as extracts (so more concentrated) also. ❤️
