They have been in production since 1958 with very few changes. They are also used as Taxis. Until a few decades ago they were the only car you could purchase, along with a Fiat import model. You probably doesn't even know India has got world's most elite forces on the planet (than US Navy Seals, UK SAS and so on): Indian MARCOS, ParaSF, Cobras, Ninja Commandos and many more. An Indian Marcos cadet even topped the training and course of US Navy seals with an attrition rate of 90%. A competition was held by UK in which world's elite forces participated and India's Para SF commandos won it.

ANSWERS TO SOME QUESTIONS :- CISF is a corporate & Industrial security forces which guards all valuable assets in the country like Airports, Research facilities etc. We have SPG protection only for Prime Minister and they are in black suits much like Secret Service. Now we too have Cars & Aeroplane for PM like Beast & Airforce One.

That is not the PM or presidential detail. The Prime minister or the president have multiple layer of security, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) covers the outer layer. There main job is to provide security to important industrial sites such as nuclear power plants, sea ports, airports etc. CISF also has a women's division. Those are not the presidential vehicle, the vehicle's name is Ambassador and it was used in 1990s to early 2000s. The presidential vehicle has been upgraded since. It isn't nuclear bomb safe but it can hold its own.

CISF stands for Central Industrial Security Force, they usually guard different public and private industry installments and government factories, airports and instalments that are important for national security. This is their main job profile. But they also provide security to VIPs in India, which is usually politicians and other important personalities and that is done by these commandos. Usually the VIP security is done by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) which is paramilitary unit, kind of a federal Police force, but they also fight Left wing extremists in central India and In Kashmir too, so they are sometimes short in number and this is where CISF steps in. Our PM cavalcade uses land rovers. These are old ambassador cars manufactured by the now defunct Hindustan motors. These are only for demonstration. These are too old for real use.
