[OUTDATED] Rainbow Road - Mario Kart DS - Deconstruction with Oscilloscopes

UPDATE: This video is not very accurate, as the original track includes a lot of pitch bending and sliding, information that was lost in the creation process for this video. The rest of my videos don't have this problem, so I'd recommend you check those ones out instead. I'm not all too sure what I want to do with this video, feedback is recommended.
This video deconstructs the Rainbow Road track from Mario Kart DS, in the form of oscilloscopes, notes, and separated sounds to get a better understanding of what is included in this song.

If you want to make a video like this on your own, hopefully these steps can help out: 1. I used vgmtrans to extract each song from the rom 2. Exported the songs into the highly compatible midi format with sf2 3. Deconstructed the channels to my liking in a generic music software and exported each one into a streamed sort of file (mp3, wav, etc.) 4. Put each file into SidWizPlus which does all the oscilloscope work. If SidWizPlus doesn't work that well I've heard of Corrscope but haven't given it a try. It may take some time to render. Hope this helps, if you have any questions I'll try my best to answer them

The dissonance is created by the faulty panning .midi conversion of the original file. Restoring panning in previously encoded .midi files is extremely difficult to do, but the original bass isn't played this way in game.

2:19 is positively heavenly. Definitely want more of these. One issue though: what's up with the bass? Lots of the transitions are not the way they were in the original game/original track. Not sure what went wrong

Thanks for the view! When I was making this video the pitches weren't being bended properly from software limitations, and I made sure to fix that when making the next video. The bass in this track relies heavily on pitch bend making it sound off at times. Hope that clears up your question!

I’ve been using an app called Open MPT. Been a huge help with pitch bending. If and when I get to it I might try my hand at this track! Otherwise we’ll done! It’s rare to see this generation done as oscilloscope!
