Cioppino was invented in the Bay Area by an Italian fisherman. When all of the fisherman came to the dock with their haul, he would ask for everyone to give some of the catch for a family meal. He had an accent, so they thought it was funny to call it "Chip in o".

Cool Video! Glad to see someone is still trying to live off the land and make it taste good...........give me a shout out whenever you are in the Santa Cruz area.................been doing what you are doing for years just without a camera. Get's WAY MORE cRaZy underwater my good friend, recipes for days! And so much wild kelp harvesting I just walk a block to the beach and pick the kelp off the rock and dry it in my front yard...............there are many new levels I have been able to take the wild California bounty to my mouth by next level fermentation, dehydration and other preserving and culinary methods..................................try the Lobster diving out of Catalina and cook on the boat!!!!! Trust me when I say this...........If you go underwater in Cali and you like to cook and eat you might never go to a grocery ever again...............there was a guy that I met on a lobster diving trip and I had dinner with him and his wife on the boat for our lobster feast. He spent year around harvesting wild game and marine creatures and froze the extra and used that overtime to consume instead of going to the grocery. My goal soon is going to be able to spend one entire year without spending money on food other than my fishing and hunting license. I have many thing to solve like how to get salt and vegetables and citrus but I have so many special secrets on how to get that done and of course the cost of seeds and other things I think and hope will be worth more to me overtime by having a zucchini plant instead of buying zucchini at the store. And by default there are seasons to everything including animals so just the seasons alone shifts available food around which means available nutrition changes. Not to be to much of a dork but for example Native Californians ate the glands of Elk to get Vitamin C because there was no year around readily available supply of citrus that we are used to associating Vitamin C with.........but I digress............
