Very good video👍It's great to see a demo on dusty white alloys instead of the usual satin black which I can never tell is clean or dirty.

I'm still not sold on these high-priced wheel cleaners! I think some of the degreasers/APC's that you can get from your big box stores like Simple Green, Super Clean, Zep, etc work absolutely fine. Just use common sense and dilute properly. I have been in business for almost 7 years and have tried them all! I would love to use the expensive stuff, but it just doesn't make any sense. I use Super Clean at 10:1 and in 7 years I've NEVER had any problems. Super Clean is $10/gallon and diluted at 10:1 it just makes the most sense to me. Yes you'll have to agitate a little, as a 10:1 isnt that strong (But its pretty safe) Now if a customers wheels are caked with brake dust, I love using Superior Products acid (Wire Wheel I think its called) at 5:1 and its amazing! I always take my time and rinse the wheels off good and then spray a little Seal&Shine on the wheels and then dry completely. On a side note, the P&S Iron Buster is what I have been using for a few years now and I actually dilute mine 1:1. Every job is different, but for %95 of jobs Super Clean 10:1 and Iron Buster 1:1 does a fantastic job and it also keeps my detailing prices very competitive because I'm not spending $3 on each wheel and tire, but stilll gives me great results. You just gotta put a little more labor into the cleaning, compared to using the expensive stuff. If you have the $$$ Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel is crazy good...

Stoner Iron Remover uses a different chemical to remove iron (so no visual change unless you buy the one with indicator) and doesnt have the smell because they use another chemical.

I’ve been using just Meguiar’s Ultimate wheel cleaner for several years now, which does have the stinky sodium thyioglycolate and turns iron deposits purple. But it’s 10 bucks a bottle and I buy like 1 per season. Works great. But I don’t use it on my coated wheels. For that I just use car soap on a foam cannon.

A warning on Simple Green, the original one ("All Purpose" or Industrial Degreaser) is not officially aluminum safe and there are reports on forums of people who've had it discolor aluminum. Simple Green Pro HD (a concentrate) and Max (meant for cars, not a concentrate) are aluminum safe and contain corrosion inhibitors.

All you need is an APC. I use iron products on wheels if I am coating them or if they are incredibly trashed. So about 95% of the time just APC. When I do use iron remover I don't use KZbin amounts. A light misting is all that is needed.
@Patrick94GSR4 сағат бұрын
I use Meguiar’s APC at 1:4 strength for tires, and just car soap in a foam cannon for my coated wheels. It’s been working great.

Nice video man. When talking about the Adam’s product that you don’t like due to staining the tires are you referring to their “Wheel Cleaner” or the “Wheel AND Tire Cleaner”? TIA

@ oh ok, I saw someone comment below asking if you’ve tried the Wheel & Tire cleaner specifically and you said you had tried it and that it stains tires so wanted to clarify.
@themikeroberts4 күн бұрын
Stoner has a new odor free iron remover that uses a different chemical. Could be worth using when APC isn't gonna work. Their chemical doesn't turn purple so they sell a version with an added chemical that turns orange but it will stain concrete that's not sealed.

I don't know man, Simple Green makes me cough and it smells like crap and have since switched to CarPro Eraser for degreasing.. Although Iron Buster is not the most pleasant smell, I can work with it having zero issues. To make up for the lack of lathering or that gelling effect you get with MWC, Iron Buster works great in conjunction with Brake Buster. I clean my wheels so often, so KCx is not needed often so all I need is BB in an IK Foam Pro2 and simple agitation. Using an iron remover often just seems unnecessary unless in the day to day detailer space.

Wouldn't iron buster work better on ICE wheels like on a truck vs an EV wheel? Waaay more brake dust so the value might be better for a traditional amount of brake dust.

Why would an Electric car have brake dust
@OutofSpecDetailing5 күн бұрын
There’s an old saying “if your not using the brakes, you aren’t driving fast enough”
@sheepstardetail5 күн бұрын
Regenerative braking only applies a certain amount of load and only above certain speeds. You will use friction braking, just not as much as a normal car.
@Japplesnap5 күн бұрын
Um....because they have brakes.
@gj914715 күн бұрын
If EV drivers just use regen brakes.....they better have deep pockets to replace rusted and warped discs....and expensive stuck on calipers. Regen is the worst idea in Motoring history.......
@sheepstardetail5 күн бұрын
@ regen kicks off below certain speeds. As long as you service callipers and pads bi-annually there isn’t any issues. Brake fluid is also a 2 year interval instead of 3 like ICE cars.
