@@alanmay7929 😂 i’m sorry, but a bead locker tire is not a big change or what I would consider a big deal in changing wheels and tires on a pick up truck are changed out all the time according to application the first thing my dad used to do on the farm is changed the wheels and tires so we had a set for the winter and for the summer we considered it stock as long as he didn’t change power performance transmission suspension beyond basic maintenance wheels are just common maintenance as well as tires. Now I don’t own an EV but your comment really made me laugh. You know how much more expensive a G wagon is and I wouldn’t even consider that as a practical vehicle for the everyday person and don’t start on the price. I’m not even letting you go there. The last I priced out they wanted $92,000 for it and it had the same features as my last pick up, so price has gone up pick on pickup trucks. Imagine hating something so bad that you nitpick on every comment made you’re living in a different world then the common working man I’ve already seen these things out there with contractor racks I’ve seen people using these things off Roading, etc. they’re being used and more of them will be used, you don’t have to like something you also don’t have to nitpick tires or wheels. Oh, you change the air filter. It’s not stock anymore, come on give me a break. just the point of view of a diesel Owner who works for a living and isn’t some rich person who thinks 6 x 6 is a comparable because they hate something so bad.

Love seeing this content! Kyle keeps saying that the rear locker on the AWD should be more capable. I’d like to challenge this since, If the purpose of a locker is to take all the power available at the diff and (a single motor in the case of the dual motor CT) and make it available to the tire that’s still on the ground, I’d expect the dual and tri motor variants to be similar since any one of the two motors in the rear of the tri motor is roughly equivalent to the single motor in the rear of the dual motor. I really want to see Out of Spec test the two models on the same terrain side by side, rather than just repeating this assumption. I bet they are very close. Keep it up guys!
@boostav2 ай бұрын
Even if one of the two motors on the rear axle of the tri motor is equivalent to a single motor on the the dual, which I'm not sure it is, with mehcanical lockers you're not depending on the software to figure itself out.
@kestrelglassingsystems67042 ай бұрын
@@boostav Unfortunately tesla doesn't publish the breakdown, but I believe they are within 5-10% on performance. So, at rough estimate it should be close enough to where tire pressure is probably a bigger factor. But, that SW should be able to be fast as heck, and there are other more subjective considerations like not having to enable the rear locker or go through the dance to unlock it after. Point being, lets test this stuff side by side! it would be great content.

It is really janky engaging and disengaging the lockers. I have a dual motor and I use front and rear lockers 2-3 times each week to cross a very soft sand beach to go e-foiling. It works great once it’s engaged. The worst part is it tries to disengage if you get out (trail heads, camping, e-foiling, etc…), which sucks if you are parking in deep sand and need the lockers on to move forward.

You indicated that you thought an AWD model with dual lockers would be better, than the tri motor, coulld you expound on why that is. I currently have a Beast on order waiting for a VIN# but am still trying to decide which model would be better for my use case. I consider your reviews and videos the most technically informative and knowledgeable of all the channels out there and highly value your opinion based or your first hand reseach and on & off road experience with the vehicles. I plan to use with a cyberlandr ( if it ever comes to market as originally revealed). for mostly on road use with some (30%) mild off roading while gold prospecting. Trying to determine which unit would be most efficient ( enegy useage) with the constant additional payload of approx 2000 lbs. Would the trimotor with the extra power be more efficeint in moving the extra payload down the road and up & down hills vs the AWD dual motor which is normally more energy efficient. What would be the advantages disadvantges of the AWD with dual lockers, vs the trimotor setup with only one locker for off road use. i see a company is marketing a sway bar disconnect kit and also wonder if that is really beneficial with the CT's suspension setup. Thanks for any input you can provide and keep up the great work.
