Cap, you and I are complete opposites when it comes to early mornings. The very first thing I do is start the coffee, wake up and then start breakfast. Lifting the outboard will also create less drag. The weight differential alone makes a difference which makes it difficult to choose which alignment for your set-up. Beautiful aerial footage of Great Isaac Cay and the lighthouse. They look bullet holes @ 23:42. 5.56 and 7.62 cartridges. Minnkota supposedly has a new "Quest" model available. Check it out.

Hi Cap, in you fuel calculations, are you adding in a contingency reserve to how much you need? If not, you should. Changing sea state, a mechanical issue, encountering another boater who needs help, things like that do happen and a reserve should be accounted for. For example, if you lose a single coil pack to the engine, or worse, two or more, and don’t have spares aboard and/or the means to diagnose and replace the dead coil pack, your fuel economy will absolutely nose dive. Not trying to be overly critical, and you are obviously very aware of your fuel burn state, but I don’t recall in prior videos you building in a reasonable contingency reserve.
@OutOnTheReef
@OutOnTheReef Күн бұрын
at fist i was not counting on my reserve but at the end of the video yes, i usually have a 30% reserve but this new engine im trying to make some adjustments , in this trip i ended up with 18% fuel reserve , i know that is very low but in the next trip i will be more prepare cap , thanks for looking out for me cap.

Hey not sure you how much you have watched out of the reef but this guy is a safety nut. you can bet he knows how much gas he needs to have to include reserve. I totally agree with you but you wont catch out on the reef in a bad situation. I have been following him since he was sleeping on the floor of a Yamaha Jet boat. Now those were the days! lol
@raisingcane225

@@keithrose1 I’ve only been watching for about a year. It’s obvious he is keenly aware of safety issues - always wearing the life vest with PLB, VHF, etc when under way or about to be, always looking at weather conditions - as is and projected. It’s just that I don’t recall him mentioning a reserve into his fuel calculations before. Don’t get me wrong, this is absolutely GREAT content and he knows his stuff.
