A courier not checking inside the package they are delivering is most definitely not ''questionable behavior''. In fact, questionable behavior would be opening that package! I mean what, do you want every Amazon delivery driver to check your packages to make sure they're not delivering nuclear codes?
@Tumbledweeb5 ай бұрын
Indeed! I'd also like to add some more info to this one: The area in which the Courier delivered the package to did not have any postal service until the Courier offered to provide it. No other Courier would because of how dangerous the area was. Prior to getting postal service, people struggled to live there. Upon getting postal service, the area flourished. In regards to Ulysses, the moron is putting the blame on the wrong person; The Courier was just doing their job, why are they to blame and not whoever sent the package? Or even the delivery company that accepted the package? Furthermore, what was Ulysses' job before he became a full-time stalker? A Courier! This guy is a massive hypocrite.

The Ulysses thing always annoyed me. Yeah, the courier did deliver the package, that doesn't make any of the events in the Divide their fault. The courier had no reason to believe they would have been carrying something dangerous, and it's kind of frowned upon to look at other people's mail. Hell, they most likely wouldn't have known what it was even if they *did* look. Ulysses is just targeting the courier because there's no one else left TO target. Ulysses wants there to be someone to punish, instead of accepting that a terrible thing happened and that everyone involved in said terrible thing was killed. But I suppose there's no therapists left in a post-apocalypse.

The closest I can get is to not bother talking to him before the final encounter, headshotting him with the anti-material rifle before he can act, then launching nukes at Caesar and the NCR to emphasise how little I care about either faction. It would be nice if you could leave the Divide, finish the game without completing the DLC, and get an ending that mentioned how Ulysses eventually died waiting for the Courier who didn't care about him to turn up.

I always found it odd and funny that in all that time, it never occurred to Ulysses to target the people who sent the package-the people who paid the Courier to deliver the device to the Divide. Of course that plan has the same problem that targeting the Courier-the senders didn’t know what it was either. They simply discovered it and noticed that it had the same markings as some of the prewar ruins in the Divide and hired a courier to take it there so the personnel could try to work out the connection was and what it did. If the NCR had known they wouldn’t have hired a random courier to deliver it. Perhaps Ulysses is cowardly and couldn’t reach the sender so he decided to avenge himself on the lone, weaker target.

Worth noting: Fallout New Vegas includes a dialogue option where the Courier can simply tell Ulysses that he's got the wrong person and the Courier was *not* involved in the incident that wrecked the Divide. Ulysses will insist otherwise, but there's nothing in the DLC to prove this one way or the other. The player never comes across any proof of any kind that the Courier had visited the Divide previously. And Ulysses' claims are suspect because he is, well, bat-shit insane. So, if you want, you can quite easily headcanon that the whole mission is based on a mistake on Ulysses' part and that the Courier is completely innocent.

If you remember, the start of BL2, your character survives a train being blown up and claptrap greets you and hints that Jack has killed a lot of vault hunters. Based on the Echo logs you find about him in the Arid Nexus area in BL2 (as well as the ones in other areas that explain why each of the first four BL2 characters came to Pandora in the first place), he was most definitely already masterminding plots and manipulating people before the first game even started - he had Angel "plugged in" when she was a young child, and then had her speak to the original BL1 characters when they were on the bus at the beginning of the first game, and the aforementioned Echo logs on his history end with him about to off Tassiter and openly take control of Hyperion ("Do you know the difference between choking and strangulation?"). The Pre-Sequel seems to sort of retcon/change some of this, or perhaps just downplays it. But yeah, he was a total monster way before then. Good villain, though :D.

2:56.......in fairness to Colt........it worked? Everyone but Colt kept looping and not retaining memories so he kept killing Juliana her to break her out of the loop. She did break out and then developed a technique to keep her memories.........BUT then Colt himself succumbed to the Loop and began to forget so Juliana kept killing him again to 'bring him back' which ALSO worked. So in a way both Juliana and Colt created their own enemies in the same way..........poetic in a way.

Oh so now the Day of the Tentacle bonus level in Zombies Ate My Neighbors (bcdf on the password screen and if you have a way to break walls in Level 1, there's a Bonus Level icon behind a hedge at the top of the level) makes a whole lot more sense.

In Red Dead Redemption II you have several unscrupulous characters to deal with, but a big part of the plot is how you keep making enemies through your crimes. Granted it’s more Dutch who is to blame than Arthur but he does get stuck having to participate in several robberies that turn out to be stealing from Leviticus Cornwall. Thdn you make a bigger enemy of the Pinkertons by killing them. Dutch’s plan of trying to profit by playing the Grays and Braithwaites against each other makes enemies of both, and then gets them stuck dealing with the mafia. And all that ends up leading to Agent Ross becoming the main antagonist of the first game. Spec Ops: The Line is a weird example. The protagonist creates his own villain in the sense that the “villain” he thinks he’s fighting is entirely a construct of his own mind and trying to fight him just causes him to become the true villain instead.

The Pre-Sequel is his villainous origin story, where we see him go from corporate drone that is trying to save Elpis, to the Insane narcissistic monster we see in Borderlands 2. We don't actually get to see how he treats Angel when he isn't insane, other than trying to restrain the powers that killed her mom, and while he does various morally dubious things in the pre-sequel, Moxxi and Lilliths attempts to kill him are what lead him to believe all Pandorans were as bad as the bandits and drove him insane respectively. The tragedy is that he isn't really worse than plenty of NPC's you gleefully work for in the other games, and could have been a great force for good but the events of the Pre-sequel and the actions of several characters meant that would NEVER be possible.

I do wonder the inverse: Villains that made their own heroes. Of course, one that comes to mind is Kale Vandelay who made the hero of Hi-Fi Rush, Chai, due to his own negligence and laziness and disregard to Chai's property. Literally throws the MP3 or Ipod away and down to where Chai's robot arm surgery was. He said "No defects" to everybody else on his team but it was his stupidity and laziness that made Chai so unexpectedly powerful. He also forced his own sister, Peppermint's hand and replaced Macaron with the very money incompetent Zanzo, which made Macaron create CNMN for self esteem support, and he even made Korsica heel turn on him because he hired her under false pretense, and when she found out he tried to kill her with a meta developer scrapped boss robot. Kale also got his ass beat by a literal cat (named 808), who his sister built not even for fighting, and CNMN totalled the robot he stole from Zanzo who also wasn't made for fighting. Kale freaking made literally every single protagonist and (aside from Roquefort and Korsica), everyone else he hired sucked at their job due to a critical flaw making them not competent at exactly what they were made to head. Rekka literally just scrapped everything with even a ding on it without care to fix them which wastes money, Zanzo literally was somehow worse with a creator conplex going unchecked and draining the budget of the company in mere hours as well as likely ensuring every creation aside from himself and maybe Roquefort blew up when they failed (including the other production heads and his literal boss), Mimosa was literally a narcissist who drained whatever other budget to make herself look good on stage, and Roquefort was only interested in money (but at least he was more well rounded knowing stuff about security and being generally collected and wasn't an idiot overall). Kale literally is a lazy brat of a manchild that stole his mother's company and her free will but didn't care enough to do anything himself. He didn't even go the cyborg army route, he just wanted to not think ever again and have everyone just grab the stuff he had made no questions asked with mind control. Kale made a mind control device to be lazy and that's it.

What bugs me the most about the Handsome jack stuff, is that all the questionable stuff Jack does prior to becoming Handsome Jack is pretty much par for the course for the Borderlands world, especially for someone who is part of a megacorp- and in fact Jack does his most regretable acts when he is trying to do the right thing but feels compelled to push on and cause suffering in the process, which YOU as the various vault hunters also do in many missions, often for less reason, if with also less collateral. Destroying the space laser I could see as the right thing to do, especially since it would be in the hands of Hyperion in general, not necessarily just Jack, but not only was it destroyed before the actual antagonists of the game were gone, but done so in a way that would have killed not only Jack, but also all the other player characters, several of which become villains in borderlands 2. Whilhelm apparently being a bit of a boogieman to the Crimson Raiders hits differently when you know Moxxi, Mordecai and Lilith tried to kill them in the middle of their attempt to save Elpis. Lilith breaking a mind affecting artifact (which If I remember right was supposed to be a repository of the vault maker's knowledge- ie the source of Jack's intel on things like the Warrior) on Jack's face instead of killing him, taking the artifact, or just breaking it, is baffling when she ALREADY said she was happy to kill him earlier. Frankly there were many missed opportunities to have this come up in the content post reveal of this (The Pre-Sequel where this happens is told as an account by one of the vault hunters working for Jack in that game, after being captured and about to be executed by Lilith, that part is happening after all of Borderlands 2 except the commander Lilith DLC). The commander Lilith DLC has some echo logs of Brick talking a little to Lilith about it, but it also comes up not at all in Borderlands 3 (like 90% of the vault hunters from 2 for most of the game, really wish we got more of them outside DLC). The whole thing is basically skimmed over as a sign of how Lilith needs to grow as a leader, when it really should call her entire role into question since she not only could have prevented EVERYTHING Jack did, but arguably ensured he became the psycho he was by the time of Borderlands 2. Overall, a weird thing where they both went too far and not far enough- having done nothing to prevent any of the questionable acts Jack did, and then seemingly gave up after one assasination attempt, and also were basically ignoring the army attacking the moon and focusing on Jack instead, but not enough to kill him...

11:05 as has been stated by a lot of people the thing about Handsome Jack is while yes he was a bit of an ass to his daughter the entire time she was around (that one's justified though and he legitimately cared for her) Jack was literally working with future knowledge although fragmented Since he didn't know Angel would die before his passing. His tip into madness was him realizing his death and everything that led up to it would be inevitable. So he just played the part. After the death of Angel, his daughter and the one thing he truly cared about in the universe, that's when he really became a villain. Everything before that you could say he was playing a part, but killing his daughter made it personal.
