There was one song @johnmayer wrote for Continuum that didn't make the album because John thought that he would have to sing it his whole life. That song was Over And Over.
It's yet to be released, but John sang a snippet of the song on the @premierguitar Wong Notes podcast ( • John Mayer Plays an Un... ).
If you are reading this John, please release it, it's amazing!
(For my regular viewers, sorry that this isn't what you expected but I'm still sick...I'll try to make something once I'm better)

I normally don't post this, but I love this song so much I had to post it just for me (and so I can listen to it in the hospital)! The chords are: A - F#m - Bm - E --> A - G - D - E --> A - F#m - Bm - E

I looked little deeper into the chords. The chords are basically just as you figured, A - F#m - Bm7(I hear so) - E7. But from his old live version(low quality audio thing), he uses ton of interesting voicings. For example, instead of just Bm7, he plays B7sus2-B7sus. And for the G chord, he plays something like G6(9), which is an awsome place to stop by while moving from A to Bm. Also you can replace Bm7 with D or Dsus2 and it will sound just right(Dsus2 sounds better). John Mayer just never stops teaching me.

Wow. Best love song John has ever written. there's no doubt in my mind if he released this in 2006 on Continuum it would have been the biggest hit he ever had. This is "Thinking Out Loud" years earlier. Knowing how easily John forgets how to play his old songs live... this must really still be that special for him to remember how to play it and still know the lyrics. I'm sure it'll come out one day when he's ready.

Soul searching must have touched your fingers, John. Keep on keeping on, You will soon find a love that surrounds you and guides your fingers with real love. It will take a hell of a person to show you a love that is much more than what your fingers can strum on a guitar. I imagine that many have tried to be more important to you than music without knowing that it can not happen. You were born with the gift of music. But, they are closer than you realize. Keep writing and feel the rhythm, let your words flow as smoothly as satin. Your biggest fan Lynn Thompson

I think every artist should write and record at least one more extra song for each record they put out, and not release it until years later. Artists change so much over time, as everyone does, which would make the final release so much more meaningful and well-received, because listeners can hear that special sound once again, the sound they thought was lost to time, in a seemingly brand new song. It’s actually a bit sad.

Wow, totally didn't expect him to resurrect this one. There's a great video on here (audio with pics) of him playing it to a crowd during the making of Continuum. He also performed the song back in 2004 at Housing Works for a small room, where he also debuted Another Kind of Green, both on acoustic guitar. My feeling is that he later wrote I'm Gonna Find Another You and replaced this with that tune since they are musically in the same slow BB King blues vein. This would have definitely been a great bonus track. Our loss. Here's a link to an earlier performance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6nFp2mFrJWHd7M

He’s an idiot for not putting this out back then. This probably would have been one of his biggest hits. That chorus is just old school stuck in your head catchy. His time of having major popular hits has been over for awhile. Not cuz skills or anything involving him really, it’s just how music is. Once you have your hit song, you got the public’s attention span for a hot minute and that’s it. He’s put out many great songs and albums over his career and I enjoy his music, but damn with that chorus during his initial run of popularity… that could have been wonderwall huge. On the other hand it does say a lot and it’s pretty bad ass to be able to say that you can leave hits like this in a drawer lol.

Yes, imagine if he put it out as a single after waiting on the world. The momentum was with him at that time. If any popular artist releases this today it will still be a big hit . Yes you can say he has great catalogue of unreleased song and doesn't release a 90% finished song , that makes him all the more special and what not but this could have sky rocketed his career.

part of me is glad john didn't release this. His reasoning might sound a bit popous (on brand for mayer of that era) but he was a 100% right considering continuum's lasting success. I'm happy we got I'm Gonna Find Another You over this song it's in the same vein however, I'm Gonna Find Another another you really pays more tribute to that type of songwriting from that era. I feel like John also felt that way and thus didn't put it on the record. This is a great tune though that's for sure!

If it was this or I’m gonna find another you I’m totally happy with what he did. I absolutely love the ‘where the light is’ live version, especially with the full intro (which is only on KZbin)
