Great job! The OTT swing has been working so far for me and my dad. We’ve been playing golf for more than 15 years and this is the first time that we’ve felt comfortable with our swings. It even works on my grandfather’s 2 iron with a very small clubface from the 60s that I would sometimes hit on the range. I noticed though that with my driver and woods that I would sometimes hook it with the OTT swing. Any advice on how to remove the hooks? Feel free not to answer. We’ve been watching your progress for years and just grateful for your content 👍🏼

I would suggest you move the ball forward in your stance and weaken your grip slightly. I discovered the same thing. Now, I'm patient on my transition and hit it nice and straight! Thanks for watching!!!

I was at Turnberry for the final practice day and the first round, when i returned home, i was watching on TV rooting for Tom to go on and win, one of the all time greats of gold, well liked and well respected by everyone, incidentally the full coverage of that epic day is on youtube if anyone wants to watch it, i truly believe you are on to something with the Ott swing, easier on the body, especially to a mid 60s senior golfer like me, and look at how long the careers of those players were, whereas so many of the modern players are out injured

Awesome video! One question I had was have you measured your club distances/dispersion with your new OTT swing vs your previous swing? I think it would be an amazing video to portray how you have improved distance and dispersion wise with all your clubs!!! Keep doing what you're doing man, love the content!

@@MiracleSwingExperience can't wait to try it. I'm an in to out swinger and have learned to let the knees buckle towards the target just like jack and tom, it's really the only way to try to maintain your balance when swinging out to the right with power. Nice job on the video and -yes - many greats swung/swing over the top. My favorite was Julius Boros but I watched Gene Littler a lot as a kid and had an over the top move. You nailed it with your comment about Watson attempting to mimic Jack's swing in the early seventies. In a an interview some years back he did mention that. Watson was 2 months shy of his 60th birthday when he nearly won the Open at Turnberry. Probably would have been the golfing equivalent of Bob Beamon's long jump in the '68 Mexico City Olympics when he broke the world record by 2 feet!

Love this series and the content Christo! The fact is what you have presented goes against modern conventional wisdom of how most instructors teach the golf swing. Don't be discouraged by golf fanatics arguing semantics. The inside takeaway allows one to come over the backswing plane but not outside the intended swing plane. If people want to continue to swing straight back and drop it under, enjoy the moment at the end of the round when they open their wallets.

9:23 I like how level his head stays on this swing. A lot of pros seem to squat quite a bit in the downswing and their head is lower at impact than it was at address. Watson shows here that the exaggerated squatting move is not necessary.

For Christo and whoever else is reading this and is a practitioner of this inside OTT swing: It “feels” OTT maybe because you’re swinging on the swing plane WITH the shoulders ON the swing plane. I note that the “examples” of the “inside OTT” swingers have their shoulders on plane in the hitting area (and before). So it’s a “shoulder turn on plane“ focused swing... and that might make you think of it as feeling OTT. Keeping your spine angle squared to the swing plane - at least at the upper back area - is more than half the battle.

So what is the move on the downswing.... what is the swing thought? Is it tying the right arm to the front of the chest and rotating hard... is it making the hands go left.... what is the engine of the downswing move to make the swing go left?

I watched a couple Phil Mickelson swing analysis videos on KZbin with this new insight. I think Phil might use the OTT swing with a low take away and steep going straight to the ball, however the TV commentators say this is bad in the video's. Also, I see people saying OTT is bad. I think OTT creates 1 -3 of the 9 possible shots possible in golf which is all you need to play golf and have fun. Its just easier on the body for a weekend warrior to use with increased accuracy. I am guessing the elite pros can do OTT or Modern Swing or the Trevino to get the ball flight they want under pressure. Tiger, Phil, Bubba...just masters at moving the ball right to left, left to right, up & down.
@steveking2144
@steveking2144 2 жыл бұрын
With this OTT method, do you think a person can take it more to the inside on the backswing... ie... a shorter backswing with the left arm attached to the chest....if you know what I mean. Because I think you could be more consistent with your backswing position doing that.

I must admit reluctantly that I tried this at the range yesterday and just killed the ball. This stuff works. This goes against all I've ever learned so it will be tough to make the switch.

OTT is almost always causing slices. I would not class an inside to on-plane swing as OTT. A "real" OTT swing makes the swing path go (too much) left, and usually leads to a pull or slice depending on the face. If you would put the oldschool pga pros on trackman im pretty sure they all swing more or less within the optimal swing-path, and have the correct face to path. For example, with an OTT swing its almost impossible to hit a draw
@MiracleSwingExperience
@MiracleSwingExperience 2 жыл бұрын
So, Tom Watson is talking about his own swing but it's not "real" OTT? I just don't understand this thinking. I keep giving examples of major winners literally saying this but people are fighting it.

Isn’t OTT when the right shoulder goes out and not down. An inside and over the backswing plane is not necessarily OTT.
@Kevin-vn7mg
@Kevin-vn7mg 2 жыл бұрын
@@MiracleSwingExperience They may be saying it, but feel isn't always real. What @stuff is saying in his comment is that if you put these guys on trackman, you would see that they are probably not swinging over the optimal swing path (original plane) and are actually very close to it. Otherwise they would be hitting drastic pulls/slices because the swing path would be so far left. Just because you take your backswing deep to the inside and come over backswing path doesn't mean you are OTT. You still may be on plane. OTT doesn't mean you swing over your backswing path. I swing with the HANDS OTT of the backswing feeling because much like Tom Watson, I got tired of swinging out to "right field" and feeling stuck/flippy/blocked out. It's just a feeling though. If I actually swing drastically over the top, then my swing path goes too far left and I hit horrible slices and pulls. Look at these two images of Sam Snead. He literally returns the club to the original plane. He isn't OTT, it just looks that way because he takes it so far inside. ibb.co/748r5tK ibb.co/48SXTHg These images were taken from this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXOwYWB-eKiqrbs

@@alanshinny4565 what secret devise of the pivot are you talking about? A pivot is an exchange of ground pressure between the golfers feet stepping with with one foot at its point of contact with the other foot at it point of contact to the ground. The golf swing is like walking only with one step. To walk forward with 2 steps you would have to do what Gary Player did after his swing stepping out of his golf shot. That perhaps is the secret of the pivot in which you speak. And if so the correct OTT swing that Christo and I now teach is part of the secret of the pivot of which you speak.
