Great video! Thanks for the through testing! I've tested various Micron chips from Kingston, they seem to be using Micron rejects, never as good as direct from Crucial but cheaper in general. (only tRCDRD isn't that great on these kits) The latest kit I got was a 16Gbit kit (single rank) and I was hopeful to receive Micron Rev.B but it was not that, it was something Micron calls 16Gbit Rev.E (MT40A2G8JC-083:E) Bad luck with it, sad as I wanted the Rev.B you have there, seems you have to get it from Crucial direct.

Technical question.. I got a set of 3600 CL16 Micron B sticks and I noticed the default TRFC was 991.. Is this the motherboard fault? From what I understand, default should be around 480ns for 16GB dimm (and 350ns for 8GB) I have mine tuned down to 350ns right now, but I'm not sure if the "wrong" trfc was meant for higher settings. On an X570 Unify with a somewhat okay 5900X, I managed to get two decently stable 1.6V daily profiles. One is 5000 18-25-23-48-2T with tightened secondaries, and the other is 3800 13-17-17-34-1T with tightened secondaries. The 5G reached around 500% coverage and the 3800C13 reached just over 600%. Both errored with minor adjustments to the secondaries, as well as with voltages; so I'd reckon it's about as much as I'm going to get out of this kit for daily use. I don't think I can take it upon myself to daily more than 1.6V.

Oh heya. Here's a thing with Nanya C though. I tried going by the package dimensions, no luck. Nanya's documentation is useless on this, or they're indeed all the exact same size. Please, where in BIOS can I fnd each setting that specifically control fclk, uclk and mclck? Fclk is in AMD overclocking settings, then there is the RAM frequency in the same menu which I belive is the Mclk (?)... so where exactly can I find the Uclk setting? Correct me if I'm wrong but none of this has anything to do with Bclk, right (Base CPU clock which is the frequency number that will be multiplied for the final CPU frequency)? If I'm wrong about my latest statement, then a 3200mhz RAM needed ideally a Blck of 160 for the CPU (1600mhz), but I believe (again) Bclk is nothing to do with Mclk, Uclk and Fclk. Just really want to know where to find exactly each one in an Aorus x570 board, please help. Thank you very much.

So far, all the Techtubers who discuss leaks (RGT/NaAF/MLiD/Gamermeld/ect) have had zero in the way of X670 information, and that information that is there indicates a new socket with DDR5 memory, as it is almost invariably tied to DDR5 information and not AMD chipset information. There's a couple Rev 2's that have been released, but for the most part there's no meaningful difference between them and their Rev 1's besides some very minor tweaks that are more novelties than functional. I think Buildzoid did a video on one of them. Iirc it was about using doublers vs not using doublers with the same phase count and power stage count. Gigabyte boards maybe? Was fairly recent. TL;DR - What we have in the X570 lineup is what we get for 5000 series, at least for now and possibly forever depending on if Zen 4 will be ready by next year, or if they refresh Zen 3 (Zen 3+ maybe) with a 5 nm node and/or DDR5 on a new socket.

Seriously though, no personal experience but all the info I could find is by the "memory straps" query. Should be doable on AMD either thru VBIOS or in software (limited to mining applications though, afaik), limited to software on Nvidia Pascal (same, only Claymore does that for all I know) cuz NV always locks ppl out of their VBIOSes at least on recent gens, and good luck with newer Nvidias. Seen a couple buccaneers that feel "overbinned" by how they never get stable at XMP. *Unless* your version number is 4.32, you can try raising DRAM voltage somewhere towards 1.4 and hoping for the best. Another thing that helped someone was manually increasing tRC (it's often at its theoretical minimum on Corsairs from what I've seen) in DRAM Timing Configuration or whatever that menu is called on your board, you can try 64 and it should be alr. Maybe a different BIOS will change things, not sure. Maybe slightly looser primary timings (dunno 16-19-19-19-38). Oh and obvious things last, lmao. Do make sure you're using the correct memory slots. 2 and 4 counting from the CPU, almost always.

Speaking of mobos, I sure hope they have improved. Doesn't concern me (will have to stick to the one I installed last week... that's too many h/w swaps lately and I'm just glad USB got back to normal) but for new buyers, that'd be awesome. Backstory alert, don't click read more if you dislike rambling that is not BZ's. I was sooooooo p!ssed last Saturday when my new shiny B450M S2H that I swapped a dying (peripheral-wise) and out of warranty AB350 Pro4 for, flaked out at a RAM config (2x8 Ballistix "AES" Rev. E 3200C16 -> 3600C16) that was absolutely fine on the Asrock, that is apparently "worse" at OC. Yes it boots 3600C14 but what's the point if it's a wanker to stabilise even at 3600C16? Don't get me started on VID/SVI2 monitoring. Garbo bullsh!t. I refuse to believe a 1700 can do 4.0 allcore at 1.14V. With no monitoring reaction to offsets, albeit stability differed. How much it's actually frying the proc, or how the clocks actually behave, is a mystery. Been advised to rewatch your old vid on Gigas, will do so when time allows. Thermal sensors, too. Almost a 15C undershoot compared to the Pro4. On fckin F50 (1.0.0.4B), oob, so nothing too old. Cycled thru older BIOSes, too. No hidden menus with fixed vreg on any I've tried, nope. I can mess with Pstates all day though and that's what I tried and voila, monitoring "apparently" recovered but my power consumption was still kinda not there.

As for the ICs, 1) yea cut down density seems to be the norm now. Probably what Essencore did to CJR/JJR upon receiving the chips from Hynix and rebranding them 1JR. Turns out it's the revision I had in my craprams which did 3466 16-18-19-x on the 1700. That or taking away individual chips, so that you get a "halfrank" so to speak. Recent OEM Crucials can have 4 chips. 2) I still can't understand how tf production units are cut down 16Gb B while the one in the 6.6K WR was a 8Gb N, at least acc. to the model number. Wtf.

I have had better luck on the Tomahawk more than Asus Prime, the ROG ITX 570 board and the Godlike even but those were all different CPU’s just none of them could run over 3600 on 4 dimms besides the 570Tomahawk.

Looks like it won't make much of a difference. Renoir is the interesting one.

Hah... I can't even get my B550 Aorus Pro AC to run 3600mhz (on a 3600mhz kit)... audio crackling / usb breaks :(, had to take it down to 3200.

Amd doesnt feel as simple and took some fun out of overclocking for me. I have a 3900xt i cant get over 4.3 all core. At 4.3 at 1.2volts all core i take it up to 1.325 and cant get 4.4. I have a good memory kit/pc 3733 cl14 and its realbench stable for 8 hours no problems. But i cant for the life of me get it over 4.3 even though i feel i should have the voltage head room. But as soon as i take the voltage above 1.3 and it hits 84c it shuts down to temp warning. Just seems less refined.

Jesus - they're fusing off parts of RAM chips now? I suppose it saves chucking an entire 16 Gbit IC :)

RP ceiling (or floor, rather) is just pure luck, my old C9BJZ sticks can do RP of 15 or even 14, but newer C9BKVs can't go lower than 17 without occasionally throwing some errors (one per 10-25 mins), despite being capable of running 100% stable with 14-17-17-32 at 3800 with about 1.52V

You win some you lose some, it's now a Hynix xD Outlier RCDRD turned into an outlier RP.
