Great! My insights on many body issues may sound strange as they are not a traditional one, but I came from the traditional view first, and evolved over time. Hopefully you'll find my insights on this topic helpful!

The scoliosis which used to be mild is now pronounced at my age of 82. I also am bent almost double. I have been using these mind retraining techniques for a week and already spend more time standing straight and have much mess pain. Thank you so much.

Honestly, I very rarely write a comment (especially in praise of a video), but this is such clear, practical, and informative content. Thank you @Tarolwamoto. This was just what I needed, exactly when I needed it. Keep up the good work, you’re helping people.

So interesting and comprehensively explained Taro. 🤔 not sure how much to expect after almost 6 decades of “Leaning” off to the left? Teaching a “mature” dog new tricks etc..,,? Thank you very much 🙏

I recently met a nice man (in his 80s), and saw a guitar in his home, so I asked him if this was his guitar and he plays it, and he said yes, so I asked for how long have you been playing with my assumption that he's been playing for quite a long time, but to my surprise, he said about several months. He said he just became interested in learning how to play guitar so he started learning watching videos on the internet. When you learn something, own expectations can really get in our way, so you can try to let your expectation go, and let your curiosity lead your learning, and will see what you'll discover along the way! Much of early learning takes place without much expectations. We (adults) set expectations and goals first, and make it either success or failure, but learning doesn't have to be that way. Learning is meant to be fun!

@@TaroIwamoto I hear you Taro. I suppose that my expectations are quite low as the curvature (scoliosis) is genetic - my daughter, brother, father all have this little spinal feature. Thank you. You’ve just reminded me to pick up my guitar again. It’s been too long since I left it aside to write a novel. Best wishes, Nuala

@@noodlesm8282 And, improving scoliosis doesn't necessarily mean correcting the curvature, but means improving functions. It's always about functions that matter. We can be as straight and symmetrical we can, but we can still be functioning very poorly.

Thank you!! I've been suffering so badly from this lately. I manage to fix my posture for a while but have difficulty maintaining. I definitely will be implementing this to my routine.

My pleasure! Commonly posture is viewed as a static structural alignment, and the idea of correct posture is formed by correct biomechanical alginment, and try to impose that idea by making the body fit into the correct posture and keeping it. Here's a very different view on posture. Posture is movement, so it's dynamic, not static. Our body adapts to daily uses and activities over time, so habitual movement patterns start to change our bodies based on how we move daily. Improving posture means improving movement patterns. Changing posture means changing habitual movement patterns. Improving scoliosis is no different from improving movement patterns and posture. Exactly the same things. In fact, this is the main principle of my teaching on my YT channel.

Hello, I have scoliosis of 60 degrees. Doctors told me that there is no solution other than surgery, but I am very afraid of that. Can I treat scoliosis without surgery? I am 18 years old
@TaroIwamoto
@TaroIwamoto Жыл бұрын
Hi! I cannot say whether you'll need a surgery or not, but I can say with confidence that you can improve your functions regardless of your conditions, and this is true for everyone regardless of their age and/or conditions. We all have innate ability to improve ourselves.

I have ankylosing spondylitis that affects my spine, ribs, si joint & breathing. There are times that I can't climb stairs or even put on shoes myself. There's no body position that I'm not in pain. I don't know where to start.
