How I know this is AI: 1. This guy repeats the same sentences five times or more. 2. He's an absolute coward. 3. He's scared to talk to his dad (who literally wants to talk to him) 4. The story falls into thousands of literary cliches and tropes (main character falls into depression, they "build a new life that is theirs, they didn't like it but it is theirs," and a dad who is too stupid to realize stuff that's happening in his own home (as well as in his bank account). You could have said this in ONE SENTENCE, instead of wasting 30 minutes of our lives: My stepmother and stepsister plotted to cut me out of my dad's inheritance, so I moved out and struggled; my dad found out and divorced her and cut off ties with them. There. AI's quality is trash right now.

So many people shitting on OP... he was 23 and had his world turnes upside down *again*. He clearly never dealt with the death of his mother properly (which i partially blame his father for...and his maternal family too), had a new family shoved on him after losing half of his, then years later found out the people he thought were family, people he thought he could trust, were plotting behind his back. That betrayal triggered hurt feelings and fears. It brought fear of losing his dad like he lost everything else. Did he handle it great? No. But trauma and emotional baggage doesn't always mean you make great decisions, especially when you're young. Its also easy to say what you would've done when you weren't there and going through what he went through.

Agree...all these comments putting their own spin on things when they weren't in that particular situation, nor privy to (most likely) many other compounding factors ... Ppl are SO judgemental...& this, as with close to 96% of these type of posts, is probably AI scripted...as they're nearly 99% AI narrated.

"Carried out a sting operation but wouldn't tell me the details" oh come on please. Took me all of two seconds to think of a plan involving making up a story about changing the We’ll and gauging their reaction.

How could you not tell your dad. It sounds like they're planning to kill him. They were abhorrent, but not telling your father is an absolute betrayal.

Another example of just talking to someone. His father in this story. If you just went up to your dad right after what you heard, you could have saved the whole year. You don't want to be an outcast to your father, so you just stopped talking to him. Becoming an outcast.

AI If they wanted him out, they wouldn't sabotage his job search. Also, out of the house doesn't mean out of the will. "struggling enough to give up inheritance" doesn't even make sense

Wether this story is real or not, it is not impossible for man to feel like nothing, yet not wanting to damage his own father's happy marriage and the step family members being stupid, yet conspire to take all the wealth for themselves... People are not born equal, even in families where both parents are excellent in their lives, only for their child to be born with disability or weakness, because the genetic copying produced multiple bad copies of the genetic material, via the genetic lottery.

Inheritance is never a given. It would not have been my first concern in this situation. My father's safety would have been. He was the one being defrauded by Diane. So I would have told dad right out of the gate not caring about being believed or not. I would have at least given dad the tools to be on the lookout for his wifes motivations and to protect himself if things were to take a grim turn. This dude needed therapy over maybe getting cut of a will and having to grow a life which is a normal thing we do when we are young. Seriously.

maybe it's because I've read / listed to enough of these posts, but if my bio-child moved out suddenly and without financial stability, that would be big red dancing flag number 1

--- Gesu, why isn't this man keeping in close contact with his dad? That's like falling into Diane and Megan plans to distance him from his dad. Grow up dude and grow a pair, OP is cutting off his nose to spite his face. Ignore the toxic duo and hang with your dad. Man, you need a psychiatrist not a counselor and some anti depression meds. I just don't like this wimpy man who avoids his dad because of his step family. GROW A PAIR !! GET ON SOME MEDS!! No sympathy for this man at all. Overheard his step family plotting against him. So what does this man do? Bails on his dad because: Boo hoo, they never liked me! My life is destroyed! Worse than the most melodramatic soap opera.

OP is responsible for all of the suffering hes going through. All it would have taken from the very start was just to be honest to his own father.
