I don't blame the you but you need to understand that the anime industry has become more expensive. A light novel anime episode like overlord tends to be at least 12-13 episode, trying to cram like 2 to 3 volumes of light novel can hard at times and it often leads to stuff to be cut or simplified for show on tv remember the anime are always aired on tv first which people need to keep it in mind. Anime that are adapted from a manga doesn't have this problem for the most part, mainly because the manga story and chapters which contains a lot of artwork are quite easy to animate compare to a light novel since light novel is mostly text and a few illustrations. So yeah i know where are you coming from but you need to understand how at times we cant always have what we want from the anime industry.

The movie has this same problem with books- you simply cant fit a few hundred pages of work into a few hours. Things will always be skipped over to reduce cost.

@@zetamangads honestly speaking the overlord anime is nothing more than a cheap way to make money now it started out as a passion project to advertise the source material however that motive has changed also they failed to understand the importance of certain science cutting them and keeping other ones that arent to important. The little details that might not seem very important are what makes overlord good and also if you add all the details that the anime left out toghether you can see one big mess also if enough little details are left out they can ruin a character i have seen people opinions on albedo and coycutas and its not good the anime failed to underatand what made albedo deep and only kept the hahaha moments in.

Regarding Demiurge suggesting that Ainz "wants" to conquer the world I always connected it with one of their very first conversations ever since arriving in the New World when Demiurge was accompanying Ainz outside of Nazarick. Ainz was admiring the stars of the night sky and stated jokingly how he might have come to the New World in order to claim this "box of treasures" to which Demiurge responded in earnest that he will mobilize Nazarick's forces in order to claim it on Ainz's say so. Ainz then proceeded to say jokingly once again how taking over the world might be enjoyable and Demiurge seemed to take it to heart. This is why I was never at all surprised at how Demiurge came up to that conclusion since Ainz *literally* said it himself but was surprised when he seemed absolutely clueless about it. I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this, I've just never seen this conclusion elsewhere yet.

Started reading the light novels, and Gazef was presented as much more of a badass then the anime does, you really get the idea he is this overpowered guy, who was stripped of his best gear, yet still kicks ass. And then when you think he's pretty damn amazing, Ainz rolls in and just one-hit kills everything before him. Really giving this terrifying realization of the gap between what "strong" means in this world, towards what "strong" means in Ainz his eyes. And just so much missing info like the Greedy Kings, as well as background on the various empires.

I think the one aspect you mentioned in the light novels is my favorite part. The author goes out of his way to show how, in setting, these various characters are truly badass people. They are strong, they are legends, and they have EARNED those legends. Then you see ainz and crew waltz in and casually obliterate it all. Even in the light novel we learn of very very few singular people who might possibly be a real fight for ainz and crew to handle, but the vast majority are just hopelessly outmatched.

One thing you missed during Lupusreginas reprimand. Albedo was NOT there in the LN, she was under house arrest for molesting Ainz. Sixth was the maid there at the time as well since everything took place during the same day, the so called "A Day in Nazarick" side story. In the anime some unknown maid was there suggesting it took place during some other day. Also the day off for maids were done for the reasons you mentioned but when Ainz suggested they take a day off they were horrified as he was basically taking away their reason to exist. He managed to convince them to take the day off before they were scheduled to be his personal maid for a day because he basically tricked them into believing that he wanted them to give their best possible performance. That the task of being his personal maid was a very demanding task that only the best of the best could do which would require them to rest the day before. The NPCs being NPCs a likely scenario would be that they thought he wanted the very best of the best and if a mistake was made no excuse would be allowed which would include the excuse of being tired from the previous days work. This in turn goes back to something you skipped, S3 starts with Ainz giving out rewards. The most important skip in the anime here is what he gives to Solution. She wants "innocent humans", in this case probably children. Ainz decides to give her non significant members from 8 fingers and not innocent people because Pestonya and Nigredo rebelled against the killing of children at Demiurges death camps. Pestonya and Nigredo are held in the Frozen prison at this time and thus Tuares training was handed to Yuri Alpha. Yuri Alpha was training Tuare VERY hard later on because she would be seen as a human representative of Nazarick when she became the head maid in E-Rantel once it was taken over by Ainz. Something to this effect anyway if I remember correctly. They cut allot of content, you could quite easily make every ark 12 episodes but that would slow down the pacing by quite allot and something I guess only the hard core fans would appreciate. If they included the side stories and other extras then perhaps another 12 episodes of just that could be added. Loved the LNs, anime was great S1 and 2 but S3 seemed to have half the budget or was extremely rushed as the CGI was horrible. Now we probably wont see a 4th season for many years if at all.

I don't think there was any thought behind the 3 day house arrest, just a quick sentence. She was confined to her room and not the Frozen Prison so that alone can be seen as lenient. The problem is that Ainz just doesn't understand exactly what changing Albedos bios did. "She is deeply in love with Momonga" is pretty much a death sentence to anyone outside of Nazarick who'd try to seduce Ainz. It's also the reason (speculated) Albedo is gathering the strongest beings in all of Nazarick to form a supreme being search squad. From what I remember her squad consists of Albedo, Rubedo, Pandoras Actor and undead created by Pandoras Actor. The only wildcard would be Rubedo as we don't really know anything about her or her loyalties, all the others are 100% loyal to Ainz and only Ainz. This is why it's speculated that Albedo intends to search for the other supreme beings and kill them so that Ainz can reign supreme. Here is the entire exchange about Albedos punishment: “Get her off Ainz-sama! No, no! Don’t try to restrain her with skills! It’s just going to get cancelled! Use your strength!” “It’s too much! To be this strong, she is indeed the Overseer of Guardians! Mare-sama, help us!” “-Awawa! Y-yes!” Ainz fixed his clothing after being finally liberated and pointed to Albedo, who was being held by all four limbs by the Eight Edged Assassins. “Albedo shall be grounded for three days.” The Eight Edged Assassins dragged Albedo out of the room. “U-uh, Ainz-sama... Are you alright?” “I’m fine… But when did Albedo turn so weird? Did she eat something bad…? Devils don’t need to eat food, but there shouldn’t be a problem with eating... right?” Mare looked away as Ainz asked the question. “Well… I guess, uh, mmm, there would have been this and that happening for her. She must have been under a lot of work-related stress.” Ainz stood up from his place and called over the maid. To regain his dignity, he spoke in the most regal voice he could manage. “...Tell Narberal and Hamsuke to prepare. It’s time to head to E-Rantel.” Money is pretty much the reason why the anime is the way it is, I really hated the scene where Lupusregina was punished because it was nothing like in the LNs. Most scenes are toned down by allot and most of the tension/fear/horror is lost in translation. They could however have done the scene with Lupusregina very cheaply. All they would have had to do is add 3 lines of text and a few pictures. Lupusregina looks around when she enters Ainz chambers and asks: Where is Albedo? Ainz coldly answers: She is in confinement for.... displeasing me... Scenes continue as normal until Lupusregina realizes she has done a horrible mistake and pretty much betrayed Ainz trust by not reporting about the Giant and Serpent. Lupusregina has this inner monologue as she realizes her mistake: Albedo was place in confinement for displeasing Ainz... Lupusreginas eyes go wide as she imagines Albedo lying on the floor in the Frozen Prison with hands and feet frozen black by frostbite. Lupusregina starts to sweat as she thinks that if displeasing Ainz was enough to get that punishment then what will happen to her!! Lupusregina imagines herself on her knees and bowing down on a chopping block with an executioner standing above her with axe raised. The above would have been enough to portray just how scared she was. Almost nothing would have had to be done to create this. Picture of Albedo, you then add the stock windysnow filter and panzoom closer. Lupusreginas head on a chopping block at zooms or pans out/up to show the executioner above her. Sweat and fear expressions on her face. A few hours work at the most. Sure it wasn't in the LNs but neither was Albedo there during that scene and it's one way they could have shown how horribly scared she and the other npcs were because Ainz was very angry. I got the impression when reading the LNs that Ainz was less angry at Foresight when they lied about having permission to enter Nazarick. Here is something to think about if you intend to do a video on Rubedo: As for Rubedo I have my own theory but I'm sure others think the same. "She was not made the same way as the others" (npcs), if we look at what we know about Yggdrasil there aren't that many options on how she could have been created. I can only think of 3 methods all of which use a World Item. 1. She was a dungeon/world boss and she was moved to Nazarick and her loyalty changed to become a friendly NPC by the use of a World Item. We know that the guild Ainz Ooal Gown has one of the 20 that will delete a target but it also deletes the person who uses it. We also know another one of the 20 is an item that can request changes to the world from the developers as another guild used it to block all members of Ainz Ooal Gown from entering a mine for 30 days. If Ainz Ooal Gown got hold of this item they could request that any NPC be moved to Nazarick and become a friendly NPC. 2. The world item above was used to have the developers create her for Tabula, perhaps a simple "I want you to create me the strongest mele combat NPC possible and place it in Nazarick as a friendly NPC". So the developers created a very powerful stock model NPC, placed it in Nazarick and Tabula could then change the appearance, bios and such settings. 3. She IS a world item. There are 2 ways this can be, either she is a World Item or similar to the above she was created using a World Item. The difference? One would be that you killed a boss and she was a World Item drop, fully configured and ready to go. The other that a World Item dropped that could be turned into an NPC. So my theory is that she is either one of the 20, was created/mind controlled using one of the 20 or the previously mentioned using a regular World Item. Reason I think one of the 20 was used is because of her power but it's also a very plausible explanation. Then again for all we know she could be a rare item drop from a world boss and there could have been thousands of different npcs created using that item. Could have had restrictions like only guilds with a guild base could use the item to create an npc and only one per guild. If she IS a world item that could mean that once killed she would turn back into the creation tool World Item that could be looted or if she was created using one of the 20 she'd just die and would have to be resurrected like any other npc. We simply do not know as so little is written about her. All we know is that she is the strongest being in all of Nazarick, she was not created using the same tools as the other npcs, Nigredo doesn't trust her and bullies her, Albedo sees her as a cute little sister and Nigredo thinks that "she's not the type others can open their hearts to". If we go by anime tropes then Albedo is pretty much a Yandere, and perhaps Shalltear could be a Himedere, at the very least she is pretty arrogant. Personally I'd guess that Rubedo would be a Kamidere, if she was a World Item she could see herself as above the others and basically treat the npcs the same way that the npcs see humans. This could explain why "others" would have trouble opening their hearts to her. Then again she could be so hideous that even Nigredo, who has no skin on her face, would have trouble looking at her though I doubt it since there are some truly horrible beings in Nazarick, perhaps if Rubedo looked like Saya (Saya no Uta)? Yeah yeah, this was a bit long but meh... I'm just passionate about the things I can remember because I suffer from horribly bad memory. The one advantage though is that I can watch movies and anime once every 2-3 years and it's like I'm watching it for the very first time :D

Due to that incident, they were as closely joined as if they were tied by blood. In addition, Nigredo would not be too badly chilled with Pestonya by her side. After all, Pestonya’s fur possessed cold resistance. Rather, if they had been imprisoned on the 7th Floor, perhaps she might have been worried for Pestonya. That said, would it not be better to let a regular maid help with this? No, there’s no way Sebas-sama would not have considered that. But still… Yuri glanced at the steely butler who stood to one side. Was it inappropriate to do so because of her position? -Hm. “-Hold on for a moment. Your body’s center-line has shifted a little. Please visualize the difference in the strength between your dominant and nondominant foot, and then try again from there.” “-Yes.” The person who answered was a human in a maid uniform. This person was an extremely rare sight in Nazarick, a pure human. Her name was Tsuare. She was a woman who had been brought to Nazarick from the Re-Estize Kingdom’s Royal Capital, and she had been assigned to Sebas as his direct subordinate. That said, while she had done some maid’s work before, she had zero official experience as a maid, which was why she was undergoing training like this. Since she had been through a fairly long period of training, which included proper walking posture and a regular maid’s duties, Yuri’s personal opinion was that she passed. In other words, it was time for her to accumulate practical experience and progress towards her goal of a being more perfect maid. However, the man beside her would not permit that. In order to train this maid to further perfection, they had been drilling her harshly without pause. A regular maid of Nazarick could easily clear the training routine which Tsuare was doing now. However, they had been created by the god-like Supreme Beings. However, the present circumstances would not permit that. By order of the Supreme One, Tsuare would apparently be serving as the leader of the human maids within E-Rantel in the future. That would imply that she would be the bearer of the Supreme One’s will, and thus obliged to produce excellent results. But according to rumors from the regular maids, the human maids in question would not be serving the Supreme One. Instead, they were simply hired help responsible for cleaning and odd jobs in the residence of E-Rantel’s former mayor. If that was the case, was there a need to place such high demands on her, Yuri wondered. She observed the way Tsuare walked. It was 25 meters from the opposite wall to here. She had walked this short distance so many times already, and she had done so every day. Honestly, this girl is really hardworking. Beneath her cool exterior, Yuri smiled faintly. “...I submit that she is of a passable standard. What do you think?” She turned to the side, requesting confirmation from the butler beside her. “No. She is a long way from passable. It would be better to continue training her for a while more.” “...Sebas-sama, attempting to pile on too much instruction within a short time will not produce good results. Several days ago, Ainz-sama officially informed Tsuare of the date when she would begin assuming her duties. Tsuare will be taking the position of head maid and she will be managing the human maids. Any mistakes she makes, now and in the future, will shame Nazarick.” “While that is true... you will be going with her as well, Sebas-sama. If anything happens, would it not be better for you to handle it?” “Such thinking would be a mistake. While I will strive to keep her from making mistakes, I cannot always be by her side. In addition, she is placed above others. It is her duty to serve as an example for her subordinates - to be someone whom others look up to.” This argument was sound. It was so sound that it permitted no further response. In truth, Yuri felt the same way. As the eldest of the Pleiades, she worked hard everyday to keep her little sisters from seeing her in a disgraceful state. Although Yuri had already accepted his reasoning by this point, Sebas was not finished speaking. “Please think about Ainz-sama.”

It really would have been nice to see the Teleportation Gate guardian would have been a nice easter egg. I could see just a single moment where Nifirea just notices the cherry blossom garden for a split second before going back through as it would have helped deepen the lore of the series and made some people wonder what that moment was and look for the answer. This is a really good series with rich lore and well thought out magic system that would be wonderful if they used moments in the light novel that the anime usually would cut out to make people wonder and explore that anime's universe since it shows how in love with the light novel the anime creators are. 6:14 They actually did tell you that. There is a short line after Ainz getting the magic weapon from Guu that this weapon might be able to strengthen the fighting strength of that village. Shortly after, we see the attack with Guu having that weapon, the attack that was meant to be won by the village (or at least, by Lupusregina Beta in the event that the village can't defend against the attack). So while it was not outright said that this is the reason why he let the zombified Guu use his magic weapon, it was very heavily implied and you would have to be asleep during the part to not pick up on that. So in conclusion, I disagree, the anime definitely does tell you that part.

Just to clarify some things ainz did not give the lizardmen the magic item but instead used it himself to create the food which he gave the lizardmen this made the lozardmen think that he created the food and that he was a god also i would have liked for you to specift that you need 5 level 85 monsters or a military force equal to that to leave nazarick if your a gaurdian you just staited that you need high level monsters with you to leave nazarick if your a gaurdian without stating the numbers and the level which if you did staite would have helped the anime only who are greatly underestimating nazaricks military power also you may say that the minor details that were cut were not important but its the minor details combined toghether that makes overlord great and if enough minor details are cut they can ruin a character for example i have seen what anime onlys think of coycutas and albedo and its dissapointing to say the least.

That said, they're both artificial manmade creations whose chuuni-ness was basically programmed into them, so they didn't really have much say in the matter. They surprisingly share quite a bit of similarities. I still like PA more though.

What makes the disappointment scene even worse in the anime is the fact in a previous episode Lupus was present when Demiurge explained how important Carne was. At least in the light novel her saying she didn't understand why it was important made sense. Since the Demiurge scene takes place in volume 7 and the Carne arc was volume 8. The whole of vol 8 is basically a flashback to events that happened between the lizardman village attack and Sebas events in season 2.

I think my favorite part about this anime is Demiurge, he thinks Ains is much smarter than he is but the reverse is actually true. There are those moments in the series where he is praising Ains on how genuis and clever his plans are and Ains has no idea what hes talking about so he plays it off as is like "tell me what you have figured out about my plans" and he then uses that information in his plans like it was his idea all along.

man did i visit your channel 4 times a week to figure out any new uploads! wow! waited so much for this video to come out! thanks very much for the great work! but you forgot a single detail! in the lightnovel right after Albedo ALMOST single hand raped Ainz in front of Mare "Aura's brother who is cross dressing" and in front of Six / 6 the maid and in front of the 6 edges assassins whom jumped right at her and started declaring the guardian supervisor lost her mind, she was at last captured by each limp alone by a single 6 edges assassin and she was taken away and was grounded into her own room for a number of days! this adds to the light novel's humor if you would consider it. aside of that point i am truly starting to question Mare's sexuality .. although he is indeed a cross dressing "dark elf CHILD" might i add it looks like he doesn't look at Ainz merely as a leader but maybe something else as well ... gives me the creeps .. also when Ainz touches Aura's waist while riding behind her she gets really embarrassed, but i do recall seeing EITHER a manga scene or an anime scene when Shalltear was still mad about herself, according to the scene Aura tries to wake up Shalltear from her shame and then asks her about if she is still craving to become Ainz's wife or if she's giving it up because of the accident, Aura FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HER LIFE appears before Shalltear in a DRESS and she violently declares for her "she may as well take her chance to become Ainz's bride" that scene was really shocking it was awesome! to see the girl again dressed in an actual dress! i am talking about this because it should not count as spoiler by now it's from the second season alright!

RANT INCOMING As someone who's read the LNs all the way through to volume 13 literally 5 times now, I can tell anyone without a second of hesitation that the anime seasons 1 - 3 are pathetically done, it feels insulting how little time and attention Madhouse gave Overlord compared to everything else they do. Character's reactions are played down, expressions are more robotic and lifeless than some of the shit CGI (and boy is the CGI *shit*), character banter is cut down, scenes thrown out, half the damn anime being some kind of ps1 tier puke 3D animation, focusing on pointless / boring interactions or scenes instead of putting in interesting ones from the novel... I swear to God you can animate better movement in a still picture. And arguably the greatest scene of the light novels was so completely bastardized in what was supposedly the finale of season 3 that I actually laughed and turned off the TV. When the Dark Young were summoned, *no* screams everywhere, the same annoying sound library goat bleet being played repeatedly over and over, they lumber around at a speed you can outrun with a brisk jog and they're supposed to be faster than *warhorses,* and the CGI was so utterly shit that it looked like fucking plastic action figures were photoshopped in knocking around other plastic action figures. But I think what perfectly sums up Madhouses completely all-encompassing ineptitude with this adaptation is the fact that ***THERE IS NO FUCKING BLOOD ANYWHERE DURING THE DARK YOUNG SCENE, WHERE'S THE BLOOD MADHOUSE, WHERE DID IT ALL GO?!*** ***IT FEELS LIKE THEY JUST QUICKLY SKIMMED THE NOVEL AND MARUYAMA WAS JUST THERE PICKING HIS NOSE***

Interesting video. After feeling compelled to read ahead in the novel after S3E12 aired and having a week to go for the finale, I am now going back to read the entire series. There's a lot of interesting details left out of the anime. Hopefully they do 4th and 5th seasons out of volumes 10-11 and 12-13. I think they can stretch them that much, especially the Holy Kingdom arc.
