I’ll actually counter this a bit. Save EVERYTHING on a flash drive and also upload to cloud. You paid for all the class materials. You may not be legally allowed to distribute, but you’re allowed to have copies. Save all the slides, notes, presentations, handouts, etc onto a flash drive or hard drive. If you forget how to do something, you have the ability to come back to it now, and in the way you remember it instead of having to dive through your old books. This could save you on a take-home style programming interview or the like.

In the case of storage, being luddite is the better option. Because you can forget your password to your Google account, get hacked or even the servers can go down, so, you have to get an external hard drive(actually two external hard drives) and backup all of your data on these so that you can retrieve it. If you bought two or more external drives then leave some of them at the parent's house, creating an offsite backup. Data loss is no joke. Especially if you're a college student. EDIT: Nobody is saying that you can't use Google Drive as a backup solution. Just so you know, you supposed to have at least 2, 3 or more backups. On your laptop, on your phone, on your external drive, CDs and what not because as I said, data loss is no joke. If the file is important and you only have one copy, then it's disposable and no two shits given if I wipe it when I reinstall the OS.

That mouse you showed is fantastic, I’ve had it for a few years now, its clicks quiet and holds a good charge. Definitely great to use during a lecture

Bringing my gaming setup was one of the best things I did at uni! I joined the video games and esports societies and made lifelong friends playing competitive Overwatch and Valorant, then going to my teammates houses to drink and bake. Trust me, bring the PC!

DEFINITELY bring your setup with you. It's literally impossible for me to get any work done on just a laptop, it sucks having to constantly tab switch back and forth on a 14 inch screen and it feels very hard for me to get locked in on just a laptop. I notice my productivity when on my dual monitor setup is 10x the amount on my laptop just because of the fact that I have way more screen real estate and I can look at multiple things at once.

I think the reason why you should use flash drives instead of cloud storage. It's to make sure none of your roommates are dorm mate steal your assignment, so that they can use it and submit first-year teacher without you noticing. Basically you can password protect your actual USB from being used by anybody

Pro tip, slap a circular sticker on top of your trackpad. The texture is nicer and the motion more natural

Instead of a room toasting laptop, I’d get a good itx build which already surpasses a laptop in performance and cooling, along with a decent monitor 75-120 dollars. Much better for everyone to consider. You also don’t have to worry about not being able to upgrade 😊
