This is possibly the best video that has gone over Venom's origin with all but one detail (Eddie turns out to have had the right guy according to the AXIS crossover) completely correct. Unlike most origin videos that assume that the symbiote changing Peter's personality thing from the cartoons and Spider-Man 3 happened in the comics as well. As for the Venom movie, while it wasn't outstanding, it was a good movie, that was fun and surprisingly faithful to the comics, (Particularly Venom's original 90s run) I'd give it a B rating.

Wait wait wait what??????? I haven't read the AXIS event, but are you saying that Stan Carter wasn't the Sin Eater, cuz thats a pretty damn stupid retcon to on of the most well known stories.

@@goldenstatewarriors9418 Yes, though Stan was also inspired by Emil and copied him. (all together Marvel has 3 Sin Eaters running around, though the third became a thing in Venom's original run of mini series after mini series) Funnily enough Stan couldn't stop copying Emil as recently in Spider-Man's book he was resurrected by the demon Kindred to do his bidding. Which happened after Emil was resurrected again, though this time by Knull and Carnage to do their bidding.

"One of the Marvel Web Slinger's greatest nightmare." That's an understatement. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Spider-Man fan he's my favorite superhero of all time. Classic villains like Green Goblin and Doc Ock are great don't get me wrong. But there's something about Venom that has always pulled my interest. As a small kid not knowing what he was I saw him as Evil Spider-Man. Which is kinda what he would be if he didn't take Uncle Ben's immortal words of wisdom. Eddie Brock is Peter Parkers dark version of himself. So technically the vengeful Alien Symbiote of course would be drawn to him. Venom and Green Goblin are my two favorite Spider-Man villains of all time. But Venom is ranked above Goblin because honestly they both know who Spidey is, Venom to me makes it more personal. Yes Goblin killed Gwen Stacey, But Venom knows how to fuck with Spidey. He know how to strike at his heart more violently than Osborne would ever been.

All in all, Venom had many creators. While the black costume came from the contest winner, and other artists and writers contributed, from changing the logo from red to white, to expanding on the morphing suit idea. While David Michelinie may not have wanted to give Todd McFarlane any credit for his contributions, the reality is that many of Venom's features definitely have Todd McFarlane's name written all over them. After all, Venom shares several features w/ McFarlane's Violator character of the Spawn series, from the rows of teeth to the long curling tongue, to the shape of the eyes, etc. With that said, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that without Todd McFarlane's contributions, Venom wouldn't be who he is today and as a result, he deserves some credit.

That black costume is my favorite SM costume. I remember when he sported an identical regular spandex version in a while (given to him by Silver Sable IIRC) until Mary Jane forbade him to use it. Really wished he didn't give it up, though (but in-universe story reason made a lot o sense, I admit).

It was actually Black Cat that gave him the costume, not Silver Sable. He still has the costume though and donned it occasionally.

When I worked on the Venom storyline for my Spider-Man series I always had in mind to make the symbiote kind of like the marker from dead space that when peter would wear the symbiote it would give the user hallucinations of loved ones and also paranoid of things around plus Eddie in my project would be a up and coming Scientist and would be the opposite of peter parker who would be rich and successful and unlike peter would pick Power over responsibility and plan to build venom up in space much like the 1979 Film Alien

Eddie ruined his own life by catching a guy he thought was the Sin Eater but turned out to be an insane compulsive confessor. Spider-Man caught the real killer Stan Carter but instead of acknowledging his mistake Eddie blamed Spider-Man for catching the right guy rather than himself for catching the wrong one.

I met michellini told me McFarland and marvel ripped off his character of venom and gets no royalties for it wich is messed up because venom is one of the biggest characters of all time @hoodwood_comics
