Regarding Eileen: From the beginning of Guangzhou's season until Nero left for visa stuff, they were mostly playing Eileen/Nero and subbing out Eileen for Happy on widowmaker maps. Nero was mainly playing Mei and Pharah with some Tracer while Eileen was playing a crapton of Sombra, as well as some Mcree and Reaper (and to a lesser extent, Torb and Ashe). In short, Eileen has spent the whole season playing lots of different things and wasn't hurting for playtime before Nero left. But he has certainly been able to showcase a great genji and his flexibility overall in a way that he probably wouldn't have been able to do if Nero had never needed to leave.

Yeah I gotta disagree with sideshow on philly v shock. I feel like they would have stood a good chance at beating them due to how well they did against paris despite not prepping for them. I also think that last time philly went up against shock it was ans vs heesu and heesu was not up to the task, but carpe is another story. Edit: I didn't think sideshow would directly compare carpe to ans, but that's not really fair considering that ans was up against heesu in the ranged hitscan duel and kept getting dunked on, which makes carpe have to deal with ans and striker. You can't compare carpe's tracer to ans's widow that doesn't make sense.

I saw a great suggestion on Reddit regarding Brigitte's recent repair pack nerf: have the repair pack _replace_ the top 50-75 health with armor. That way she's still not giving *extra* health but the repair pack is still interesting. As it is now, it's just a point-and-click heal that has very little strategic value left in it. It's just a simple question of who you heal with your charges. Having it _replace_ health with armor would still give Tracers an edge in a 1v1 and be very helpful in other situations. But it won't make much of a difference at all against burst damage, unlike when the repair pack added extra hp as armor. Then you'd still have to choose *how* you use your repair pack charges, not just *when*. Do you heal or do you empower an ally? I just don't want Brig to become an aoe heal bot... she's actually a really fun/cool hero. But the repair pack nerf really depresses me. Not because it's a nerf. It needed to be nerfed. But because it stripped away what made it unique. On a related note... in theory, I prefer the lower hp shield with faster recharge time. Her shield's interesting because you have to use it situationally to block, say, a D.Va bomb or protect yourself as you cross a widow's sightlines. A faster recharge but lower hp totally works for that style, but adding hp probably doesn't make much of a difference while making her shield feel worse to use because it has a longer recharge.

Sideshow thinks that ANS beats Carpe on widow bc of their match. Like he says it is true both teams played a lot of widow/tracer but carpe didn't. Carpe was always relegated to tracer and Heesu faced ANS on widow, an obviously easy matchup for ANS. I think that given that EQO has a decent to good tracer they would be much more successful running Carpe widow and EQO tracer and couldve made that match a lot more competitive. maybe im misremembering tho idk :)

That Eqo blade was amazing...and then on point B with less than a minute on the clock, he blades a losing fight. Had he not, he could of reached the payload again with his team and a blade, cap 2nd, maybe win the map/series. That's rough. To have clutched for your team, only for a mistake to throw it all away. I'm not trying to be a hater, but that's how it went. But we all saw the potential there, how close he came to securing the win. When Eqo was alone on the point A 1 v 3, Carpe had to come back him up. The entire run of the Fusion has been around making Carpe their star player. I mean, he is an insanely good player. Fusions have always been looking for a proper duo partner for Carpe who can keep up with him. But I think they have it backwards. Though he made a mistake that cost the series, I trust a veteran like Eqo to learn from it. I think he could lead this team. He's been around since session 1, they still have him on the rooster for a reason. And what player on earth could be a better wingman than Carpe? Sub in Chipsa for DF and Ivy for Mei, that's their best look.

Matt's spot on about Genji in pub matches - his vertical mobility is very easy to use compared to almost any hero except Pharah (and lower-tier Pharahs tend to float in one place versus hopping Genjis who are constantly changing altitude). That makes him really difficult to handle for players who don't have particularly fast aim. I think also (and this might be a slight generalisation, but I don't think it's too off-base) there's probably some element that the type of players who main Genji - especially those who did it even when he wasn't as strong - tend to be the type of players who love winding up their opponents and teabagging after kills. He just has that kind of reputation. Also when he's on your team he tends to often be one of the characters who is most frequently first-locked regardless of team comp, and then the player spends the whole game hopping around in the backline looking for big clips and occasionally spamming for healing but never considering team play... Which means people's impressions of Genji are often negative even when he's on their team. Personally I've really enjoyed watching Genji finally be genuinely viable in OWL, and the comps it's created - I'm in total agreement that it's fun to see even if he is slightly overturned, and that at that level you really do have to play him incredibly well with the support of your whole team to get those big pop-offs. Look at Architect just collapsing on Volskaya and Hollywood. I'd probably bring his ult charge rate down a tad to compensate for his much better teamfight potential, but I think he's in a decent place.

It's hard to hear the NYXL discussion but they make very good points, It feels like plugging Haksal into the team was their answer for a more aggressive play-style which is clearly the way to play based on the successful teams doing that, but some of their players don't gel with that style. I would be called insane last year for saying that Benbest would be a better fit for NYXL right now but his sacrificial all in on Sp9rkle play would fit Haksal way better than the reactive way that Mano plays.

Please never allow Sideshow to bake ever again. Disagree with Sideshow's comment that Shock would've rolled Fusion in this meta. Clearly this was a meta that Shock was at it's weakest. I do agree with his comment about Fusion being unable to control the tempo, it happens in a lot of their matches that their timing is off on when to press on their advantages, they wait too long or try to make a play when things aren't in their favor. In the Grand Finals, Fusion ended with about 30 more final blows and 30 fewer deaths. Paris was quick to identify win conditions. Sideshow's comment about Carpe not being able to stack up to Ans is a hot take. Carpe's stats are all better than Ans on Ashe. On Widow, they're tied for final blows/10. Carpe has more solo kills/10. Ans. Even if compare them on all heroes, the only stats that Ans has better is 2.6 more damage and 0.7 better solo kills per 10. Carpe has 7 more hours of playtime and has flexed unto way more heroes. Reinforce is the one to bring a good point that Fusion is fails by making Carpe flex so much and Heesu having to step it up on either the Ashe/Widow or the Tracer. Carpe is actually more likely to match up to Ans than to Striker. The problem is he's also the best Tracer on the team. I think if Fusion had gone against Shock, it would've been close as they wouldn't be able to match the Genji. So the situation would've been reversed. Paris won the game in how they used their roster and their comps. They had the more intelligent plan for Lijiang and Nepal and they weren't their map picks. We lost the mind game on Gibraltar. Amazing match though even if I wanted Fusion to win. I can't wait for the stats labs stats to be out to dig into it a little more.

People complain about anything that kills them. It’s not their fault, not bad positioning, game sense, skill, it’s because the hero is OP and needs to be nerfed.

Holy shit this whole plat chat was playing out like normal until the very last segment took on a life of its own

Bro the Philly player cams are heartbreaking. Carpe crying, Sado's head down, fury just flipping his camera down. They were so damn close and just coulnd't do it. I wouldn't even say they choked. They just couldn't pull out that last fight...

Left xnxx to come here. Read one of the timestamps as Paris deep throats the Shock. Still accurate.

Genji is super good now. However, I think he will take a small hit in general with the brig nerfs. I think we will probably see some more ana in coming weeks, for the nano blade. Genji will most likely stay meta, but he will be easier to stop now without the brig armor.

So there are two things that always annoyed me about Genji: 1) Deflect is horrendous sometimes. The hitbox is bigger than the animation even after the changes from a while ago, and it feels really bad when things deflect and the projectile looks like it was outside of the animation. Also, similar to defense matrix, due to small amounts of ping, things can hit Genji and still be deflected, which just looks dumb as shit. I personally always hated deflect more than scatter. 2) Exactly what the guys said basically: at close range, with the double jump and fast movement, he can feel really difficult to track. Another minor thing is sometimes it feels like the easiest counters to shut him down (other than Brig) come from the DPS role, so tanks and supports can especially feel this frustration .

I think after these buffs especially when genji is actually meta in the past you were so used to genji being irrelevant without blade and now he can kill you really quickly in neutral fight so the massive difference must subconsciously also throw people off.

Personally I believe blizzard should buff genji's counters rather than nerfing him directly. Buffing zen and lucio so that teams are able to make use of defensive ults to counter blade would help supports feel more impactful, and buffing Winston wouldn't go amiss either since he works with genji but also against him.

I kinda forsaw the shock losing. Idk something about all of the bm striker was giving Paris especially felt like hubris was gonna get the best of them. That being said Striker was funny as hell to watch
