I was just thinking: how awesome could it be if Owlcat created a game set in the Thedas universe? They know how to handle lore and create a good story. EA is about to fall over, so they might be willing to part with the franchise.

@@mahumia Lets be honest, the Thedas universe is a derivative. You can chuck The Maker and the Elden Gods into the void as far as I care, its the characters that matters and after Veilguard, there's no way forward. Look how they massacred my girl Isabella. What I'm clamoring for is a Pathfinder version of Dragon Age Inquisition. A remake of Kingmaker in a party based, action RPG, with a war table and a waifu dating sim would sell by the truck loads.

I'd love to see Owlcat taking everything they learned from Pathfinder and making their own IP. For me, as much as I love the mechanics of Pathfinder, I almost hate the Golarian setting. Always have, even in tabletop. I think Owlcat is talented enough to create a brand new breakout hit setting. Fingers crossed it's the second coming of Dragon Age: dark and edgy with dangerous masculine men and sexy as hell women.

That's what happened with Bioware back when they were great. They got sick of Wizards of the Coast's BS so they made Dragon Age Origins. And while people these days like to crap on Thedas and dismiss it as derivative because of what Dragon Age became, the setting started out fantastic. The amount of interesting and great lore they created for Dragon Age Origins was immense... it's just a shame they did nothing with it after EA acquired them, then actively wiped their asses with it in the most recent installment. Taking inspiration from something is and has never been a problem unless people dislike the thing that did it, lol. Just look at the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, they're blatant rip-off's of Farscape but get a free pass because people like those movies. It also helps that Farscape is pretty obscure nowadays. Thedas started out great, then it lost it's vision, and finally, it's mind. Hopefully Owlcat don't go the same route. Also, on an unrelated note, anyone excited for Mass Effect 4 is _really_ setting themselves up for disappointment... *edit, oh yeah... there was a Mass Effect 4 already, I legitimately forgot, lmao.

I would love for this to be the case. This may be the only setting they could use I would have been even more hype for than I was for 40k. Though I think if they did, I would personally end up a little mentally disjointed because Shadowrun in my mind as a setting is 3rd edition, and obviously they would want to make something based off the modern edition, not the one I played as a kid in the late 80s/early 90s. I'd adapt, though. I'd eat it up.

I'm just glad they seem to FINALLY have learned that most people do not want mini-standalone DLC but would rather have it integrated into the campaign. At least the first 2 for Rogue Trader seem to be like that so I'm hoping it clicked for them. I'm sure someone out there enjoyed the pathfinder standalone things but it certainly wasn't me and looking at how they sold, reviewed and what people say online, I'm not alone there.

So, here's my take on the whole thing: we know from a previous AMA that all four games Owlcat have in the pipeline are existing IPs, and from what I read in this edition they prefer IPs with existing RPG rules that they can adapt. We knew they weren't working on Pathfinder, Starfinder, World of Darkness, Star Wars, Rifts, D&D or 40K. We can now add Shadowrun, Age of Sigmar and Warhammer's Old World to that list. We know that of their next two games, one with be in Unreal but the other is likely to still be in Unity. They explicitly said in this AMA they'd be returning to fantasy in the future, and when asked if they'd "be open to doing an RPG in space that isn’t Warhammer?", their response was "perhaps..." Alas, I'm no closer to solving this mystery than I was before, but we have an idea of what the next games are... and an even better idea of what they aren't.

Sadly, given the inherent powerlessness of that setting, it wouldn't have that power position, so that's unlikely. Maybe I just wanted Alien: Crucible to be reborn :(

I'm frustrated about the rights situation around Kingmaker. It makes it impossible for them to do any updates for that game, such as adding all the new classes in WOTR. I would really love to do a Skald playthrough, and class mods, IMHO, have been lacking. I'm also hoping to one day get a new Owlcat PF1e game, but I'm not holding my breath anymore.

I think Owlcat could make a great game based on Star Trek: Adventures. Their art style would really suit Trek and they'd be very good at putting together a crew of Starfleet/independent characters with fun ship management mechanics. DLC could be a series of "episodes" which would essentially work as standalone adventures within a grander narrative.

Owlcat saying they are directing more of their resources to voice acting worries me greatly. Thats an indication that the company is slowly but surely going corporate. I play the 2 Pathfinderr; if you quit for a week, its difficult to come back due to the complexity of the gameplay mechanics for me. But I managed to finish 2 games, which was a good and satisfying experience. Then they release Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader; it was a change of phase from them; the gameplay was simple and less complex, which I enjoy a lot, easy to hop on, and you are not bombarded with complexity as you progress. Look forward to the games they make because character building is the part where i really fall in love

Battletech. also, the Warhammer question did note specific modules, but didn't say no to more 40k in general. THIS!💢 Trump has Truth Social, Musk has Twitter and we are moving away from the woke era of gaming thanks to Grummz's plan which seems to be having an effect. Nintendo seems to be the only non-woke pure game company left that didn't bend the knee. If the western game industry collapses (with the exception of companies like Larian and Warhorse) I honestly wouldn't give a crap. To me it collapsing would be a "market correction" as the koreans and chinese and non-woke japanese take over again like in the 1980s after the crash. As the creation for new tools for making games cause the production of them to get cheaper, my hope is that those who complained about the corpos bending the knee to the woke mob start getting off their butt to make the games they want to see. That is how you win the culture war: just out-produce them in content and profit from the thirst for non-woke content. Now imagine if that happened in game industry where fans who put their own money to fund a project can hire the people they admire to make the games they want to see? This is the direction for the future of gaming imo. Like the old Bedroom coders in the 1980s commodore 64 days making games for fun and every sigle game feels fresh and different) I also think lower budget titles with more heart in them will dominate over the big triple A games made by souless publishing giants who just want to stuff microtransaction into everything. People have reached their limit of tolerance and looking for alternatives now. It was never very successful as a TTRPG, so translating to video games might be a hard sell, but Gamma World would be so much fun as a CRPG. If Owlcat has one thing going for them, it's a robust character creator, and Gamma World would need that due to all the different types of mutations, etc.

No offense to any one that likes pathfinder. As someone new to CRPG video games, Pathfinder was my least favorite. I played BG3, Rouge Trader, & Divinity Sin 2 and then I played pathfinder and I was sorely disappointed. It did not feel like a video game. The mechanics and resource system (esp. the low cap on spells vs how often you need them) really made it difficult to enjoy. Beatable...but you can't forget to make the video game fun. It just wasn't fun compared to its contemporaries. Great setting, but gameplay needs a rework.

i have the fealing the iron gods adventure path. is unlikely being adapted into a game. because of the lack flare they can make the game. unike like WROTR where you have mythic paths. most likey Piso also wants them to use 2e. so even if they will release a new pathfinder game. they have to spend some time implementing 2e rules. and there now also mostly focusing on Rogue trader wat probley is going to get most of the focus. i even heard rumors in the warp of a Xenos expansion. for Rogue

Look i think this is what is happening. Russian (like owlcat or those guys behind atomic heart)studios have such a negative treatment both media social media. I would be not surprised if Pathfinder or D&D who are really full into identity gender race and political ideologie would like them anymore. Even if both studio moved out from Russia because they don't agreed with the situation. These things will haunt them. And my wife is from Ukraine i know what i talk about. She is looking atthings differently ,but i watched her multiple times she is hunting with the ear . For me their pathfinder games needet more time in the oven, not narativly, but supplementing half messure of a Real time whit pause combat system, whit half messure turn based one, made the gameplay choire to get trough, nowhere near enjoyable, just hinderence, as either encounters had way too many enemies for turn based, or Real time boss encounters required too much micromanaging and if you cant play game from start to finnish, whit intended system, you’ve failed and no adding turn based dont fix it, it just means they had two broken systems you had to alternanete between to make it past to the story bits. Whit release of rogue trader think they finally made a game that not only had good story, but good gameplay and one i can say i actually enjoyed eavry bit of. Just hope they learned not to put both combat systems in game, as Real time works best whit large encounters against your party that you can automate to act decently, while turn based works best whit dificult encounters, wheter trough tough boss monster requiring tactical thinking, or starting from Inconvinient positioning, where enemy takes advantage of heir superior position, possibly coupled whit traps. Point being since their dificulty comes from diferent kind of encounters, youll never take full advantage of your combat system and its left as half mesure. Just hope if they make another pathfinder itll be solely turn based and 2e.

My concern with Owlcat right now is that they are Over Extending based on what I see as the Lack of Investment in the Rogue Trader vs the Pathfinder games. I backed these games but, in the future will be more careful due to what I perceive as Lack of Focus on the Rogue Trader product.

2:30 - Because they lost the lisence to Kingmaker = They made several promises in Wrath about what WOULDN'T be in the game that was later not only PUT INTO the game, but also actively made WORSE. They've overcomplicated several points in the game that did not need to be, or added in mechanics that are just plain there to make you fuck up and restart = so very few people to this day have actually gotten most of the achievement list. My point being less why they wouldn't be ABLE to do it; why would anyone freaking LET them? I know exactly why they wouldn't be able to: - Nenio was an obvious self insert (who even though she states that SHE loves puzzles - IE the DEVS love puzzles; WILL NOT actively SOLVE any of them for you) whose entire freaking questline is just massive amounts of bullshit puzzle mechanics. Just to get ONE extra crystal (that you will need to get the best SECRET ending, if you don't have a specific DLC) * The Secret Ending is also one of those overly convoluted and completely unnecessary mechanics. - They added Corruption; because Fatigue + Exhaustion debuffs weren't assholish enough. - They have Flat Footed (It WAS NOT supposed to happen EVERY. FUCKING. TIME. I enter Combat!!!) * A BUG that is still not fixed. [Flat footed is when the enemy catches you "unware." They DON'T automatically get to do that] ** I should NOT have to waste 2 LEVELS with a limit of 20 in most cases, just to counter this point. - They added a Crusade Management system that you're FORCED to engage with if you want the secret ending (which can also fuck up because the computer doesn't always read all the flags properly: BECAUSE THERE ARE TOO MANY of them!) Which probably cost way too many resources that could've gone to polish and bug fixing... but no. They did at least take Time Management out of most of the game - but they added it to the ONE reason in game that many people would want to play over again. - In game canon: You START OFF as the very thing that the Secret Ending allows = so that should've just been a case of "Do You Want to Be X super cool bad assed Ending" or not. (D&D has a handbook called Epic Destinies which I used to own, which lays ALL of this out. Pathfinder is BASED on D&D - the secret ending SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN THAT COMPLEX) * For anyone that might argue not everyone wants to be this thing... I'd argue; why wouldn't you? Besides, the endings where you choose not to be X thing, are still attainable. They also shouldn't be the only ones that 100% consitently are attainable. That's the mistake. - Army Management in the game makes the Crusade SO MUCH MORE useless and is a more convoluted Kingdom Management (especially with the Build My Outpost bullshit, which literally IS Kingdom Management) and the end of Act 4 is NEEDLESSLY punitive just because they want you to know how much THE QUEEN sucks as a leader. You can turn it to Auto - but it has the same effect as setting the Kingdom Management to Auto. You're locked out of an ending you may wish to see. For NO GOOD REASON. Just because we'd rather not engage with pointless convolution. - Time Mechanics do not add "urgency." They add Pressure. Different concept. They are there to force you to fail, and are ONLY there to make unlocking the SECRET END harder. On top of needing specific item from fighting a certain creature - of which you need 6; and most paths only get 5 (without completing as mentioned, Nenio's bullshit) * This is made worse with the Flat Foot overuse forcing party to be damaged, limited spells thanks to a Venetian Magic System that also forces you to REST. Which takes 8 hours. Because short rests generally don't exist in this game. - There is like ONE item that negates the Exhaustion/Fatigue mechanic. One. Which is useless to your party. = They USED to allow that you could take 1 level of Oracle, pick Lamed as a Beneficial Curse mythic Feat after taking another curse that was less detrimental; Boom! By level 15 you don't have to worry about Exhaustion. They nerfed it to not work because you only gain HALF levels towards the curse's benefits, if you're not leveling Oracle. Which would still be fine... if we could get to level 40 (30 means we'd only get it at the very end of the damned game, that would still render it USELESS) Which is stupidly punitive. (On top of the fact Wolf Scarred Face STILL does not consistently work if you pick it... and no; I'm not talking about trying to stack it. I mean in general - it just stops working after a set point) But they have the audacity to call the newest version their "Game of The Year" edition. Game of What Year? If they'd fuck off with some of the unnecessary stuff, or had actually LISTENED when half the player base told them Kingdom Management sucked balls and straight up doesn't work... if they actually wanted to just LET the player have a pure power fantasy, then yeah. This game in my opinion had the potential in just raw replayability, to be game of the decade to game of my lifetime. But they actively went out of their way to NUKE every possible reason to WANT to replay it. Or the ability to finish it even once, in the first place [Which I am currently STILL trying to do, since the day it was available to purchase. I am literally right now, playing it] There's a reason the stats on their earned achievements list is bloody absymal.

All Dragon Age games from now on will be called "Lecture Age". EA will have to reboot Dragon Age all over again. My advice to EA will be to make Larian an offer they can't refuse. The goal is to repair the brand image of DA. Larian reboot would help restore faith in the IP.
