I forage for oysters here in Devon and we get some really big ones. My favorites are eating the small ones raw and the really big ones I fry in a Japanese style and they are so good. Thanks

Just came back from foraging oysters today myself...try cooking them in the oven opened with garlic and some grated cheese with some crushed black pepper. I guarantee u will enjoy them even more. Great video mate keep up the good work 👍

Just had a thought while watching you . If you had a drone slaved to you out ahead in water that clear and low, you might spot things that are bigger like Larry's and be able to attack them a different way. Also would make for some awesome scenery shots as well. Just a thought. Awesome as usual gents carry on!

Another great video, pity about that rain. Was really surprised that you got so few oysters, where I get mine there are literally hundreds. Pacific oysters are really invasive and a pest species.
@planetzogg13 жыл бұрын
We've got those invasive oysters around the shore past Kirkcudbright. Always been tempted to see what they are like. Might have to go for a forage...
@madcombeel3 жыл бұрын
If you find they Are, indeed edible; harvesting and eating them would certainly be doing your local environment a favour! It's why people are starting to get into eating urchins and lionfish in areas where they are invasive as well and why I always pick invasive plants when I am forest foraging like 'cow vetch' (Which I've actually found to also be delicious as a bonus, just be sure you don't mistake it for hairy vetch which is toxic) Hope you have a lovely day, I am glad to see another who is also interested in invasive eating/foraging ^^/
@SMASHFISHING3 жыл бұрын
Make sure your waters are safe before taking and eating , but if it is then happy days haha
@evanfuller37553 жыл бұрын
Well, living where these invasive oysters came from, I can tell you that they are delicious. 5 minutes from my house and they are everywhere. I like to pop them on a BBQ and dip them in garlic butter w/ spice. I prefer the medium/small ones. They grow really large here and the big ones simply have too much goo in them.

I sadly live in a place that's far from the ocean but I still remember the time I went to the east coast of Canada (PEI) and tried a raw, freshly shucked oyster before. I STILL miss them, it's still one of my favorite foods to this day: Only lightly salty with a beautiful creaminess to them. (the oyster liquor was to DIE FOR) Please enjoy a few for me too when they come out, ahaha! Have a lovely day ^^/

In most places I know of, it's illegal to catch mollusks and crustaceans by foraging the area at low tide, it's just too easy and unsportsmanlike. Also, using a hooked bar like the one in this video is illegal at all times when catching lobster in most places.
