And he was making incredible progress heading for 2023. And just like that it burned down bc of politics. The gilas he built was youthful, fluid, and most importantly, respected. Always love your analysis. Yes, the fans care that is why they are disappointed. The best way really is a national team with players who no commitment to any other league including UAAP. But it is only wishful thinking. Sometimes I wish we had other popular (widely followed and televised) team sports in the Philippines aside from basketball. Tab Baldwin has been around for quite a while, different country and different league... he knows what the national team needs to do to compete on any international tournaments. Meanwhile the Pba is stuck in the 90's, the mindset of Pba coaches are just good for Pba, they can't understand how to compete outside the Philippines. SBP should come up with list of national basketball policies and the choice of coach and players are based on these policies. This way a core of players and how they play can be maintained no matter who the coach will be. Then there should be no forcing or bad mouthing of individuals who's not available (including the coach). Just the select the next best and hope to get the best next time.

As much as we love Basketball, but unfortunately we will have to stop supporting Gilas unless they sack CHOKE REYES AND BRING BACK TAB BALDWIN OR SOMEONE MUCH BETTER THAN CHOKE. We should take matters into our own hands. Lets show SBP that enough is enough..STOP THE SUPPORT FOR CHOKE REYES😡🤬

How much "continuity" are we talking about here? If we're talking likes of Isaac Go, Mike Nieto, Bellangel, yes, they may have been in the program for years, but, are they really world cup prospects? For me, definitely not. So, which real prospects from tab's "cadets program" have really been there for quite a while? First to come to mind is Justin Baltazar. Tab did a great job on him transforming him into a wing player, no question about that. Next would be Kouame. But, to me, he's still a big question mark. If he later on gets recognised as a local (something that's actually possible), then i can say he's another key piece from Tab's "long term" program. But, if not, then he'll be contending for the lone naturalized player spot and, to me, skill-wise, he's very very raw. Next to come to mind are Dwight Ramos and Carl Tamayo but, they're quite recent additions to tab's pool and were actually original members of Chot's 23 for 2023. Kai Sotto was very key to our fine performances in the two most recent fiba tournaments but, kai is a product of something else. He even only had a few practices with the team prior to the FiBA asian Qualifiers. The rest, are either just fillers (Go, Nieto etc) or lost to competitions namely the overseas league's and our very own PBA (Heading, Oftana) I myself was taken aback by the suden departure of Tab but, it is what it is. It was supposed to be a very good program but, as always, the ideal rarely happens. It's just very hard to sustain. It requires so much money to keep the good ones on the program, also, COVID happened. See, except for those 2 recent Fiba tournaments, what tournaments have we had? The king's invitational, other than that, wala na.

I think the solution is to keep a 12 man seniors core of PBA guys with international experience and keep another 15 to 20 non-pba guys. Have them play one system that can be implemented by any coach. This way regardless of who is available to play they have familiarity of the system.

Coach tab is parang si coach Steve kerr magaling mag develop ng players 💖 i hope this upcoming Fiba world cup 2023 si coach tab ang mag hahandle ng team . Please wag na sanang haluan ng politika 🤦🏻‍♂️ nakakahiya isa pa naman tayo ang host ng laro tpos pangit pa ang resulta . Mas may tiwala ako sa kakayahan ng isang coach tab 🤝👍 gameplay ball movement check na check . Mas may improvement kasi si coach tab kaysa ibang coach jan 🙄 . Coach Tab big line up kaysa iba jan pabor sa ibang player kaya walang improvement dahil umaasa sa mga feeling na PBA players 🙄🤮 mas okay kung walang PBA players na masasali . Isang malaking kalokohan na gusto na lang ni Coach Tab magfocus sa Ateneo campaign. Yes, nagkaroon ng exodus ang mga young Gilas prospect natin to be overseas players. Yes, na-real talk ni Coach Tab ang system ng PHI coaches. But hindi maikakaila na si Coach Tab talaga ang may matinong system to run a team, a possible upset for Euro teams. Yun nga, nakaka-frustrate na we will be back to zero (at the minimum) kung kailan crucial na ang preparation for WC hosting. By the way, sobrang hanga ako kina Robert Bolick, Dwight Ramos and Thirdy Ravena to chose to play for the country to pause their career paths.

Better do ur research man. Gilas was originally started under rajko toroman. Chot Reyes handled the Phil all star PBA team on 2007 fiba Asia and ended up us 9th place with best players eoww!!! Then 2009 yeng guiao handled phil pba all star team and ended up us 8th placer yuuck!!!! The idea was formed that they will never be a competitive team and never ever. Until coach rajko toroman formed an all amateur team finally they started winning pocket tournament beating Asia's powerhouses like Iran, Korea, Lebanon, Jordan Which we'd never done before. It was evident in fiba Asia for the first time ever they reached semi finals na hindi nmn nagagawa ng mga pros dati. Doon nabuo ang concept na kaya pala makipag sabayan ang amateur team lng with the right coach ang objectives. Kahit balikan mo ang history nun time na dominant ang Phil sa Asian basketball hnd yun mga Pro ng PBA kundi mga amateurs yun. Caloy loyzaga, Mon Fernandez,samboy lim etc they are all amateurs under program of foreign coach. Baby dalupan ron Jacobs. Walang successful na PBA squad sa FIBA puro sila basura all amateurs ang namamayagpag noon. The game of basketball is evolving you have 6'11 playing Pg, centers shooting 3's ganyan ang laro ngayon. Sa tingin mo sa composition ni chot Reyes na 8 guards under 5'10 to 6'2 ang height makakasabay yan sa international? Jan plng makikita mong hnd nya alam ginagawa nya. Tab Baldwin alam nya anu ang standard sa basketball internationally developing 6'8 baltazar and tamayo into a small forward 6'4 Pg in d. Ramos alam ni tab na this is a game of ceiling.
