You know what they say... all good things must come to an end. In the series finale of Paddling Paradise, we decompress around camp, do some fishing, firewood hunting, and stargazing. It is the perfect end to a near perfect trip. It will be hard to top this one. Come drink in the beautiful wilderness with us for two final days in the B-dub. I hope you've enjoyed this series and I promise there will be more to come!

Have you ever had a trip so perfect that you were sure it would never be topped... a trip so perfect you almost don't believe it happened?
Incredible weather, rare beautiful fish, and a wilderness waterfall made this one of my most special trips, and I'm afraid I'll never top it.
Come join us on a surreal, sensibly perfect trip into canoe country.

Just want to let you know I enjoyed your trip! Planning to be in that are this year (early June, Crocodile, mid Sept Alton, Crystal, Pierez, and Canoe. Would love to have my wife with me, but logistics (and 1200 miles trip with dog at home) make that impossible, you are lucky! Thanks for your video!

Thanks Mike!! It is an awesome area. I wanted to check out Pierz but we opted to hang around camp on that third day which I don't regret, but it gives me a reason to go back. I hope you get to visit with your wife and dog some day!

Any thoughts on not using/using the inReach for weather? I personally take a small handheld GPS as a last resort in case I would get lost. Thankfully I have never had to, but I was curious on your thoughts about using tech like that in the BWCA!

Good question. We used to rely on a "walkie talkie" with a weather radio function and listen to the weather reports, which are descriptive enough, but getting good signal can be tricky in some areas. The inReach weather costs you a bit, but is quite nice to have. You get all of the info you'd expect (temps/wind/precip/etc) in bi-hourly windows which is more granular than the weather radio, and you can request a weather update and go do something else while you wait for it to come through (paddle, cook, fish, etc). It usually only takes a few minutes depending on sky visibility. If you're wondering when to travel or when inclement weather might let up so you can go fishing or exploring, the granularity of the weather reports is nice. It isn't 100% accurate but no forecast ever is. As far as the rest of the inReach features- I generally don't use the SMS functionality but it is nice to have. The SOS feature is something I hope to never have to use, but it is comforting to have as well. In general, I use the BWCA maps on my 66i (previously 64s) to navigate, with paper maps as a backup (and campsite spots). The GPS is just more convenient. I used to be against it, wanting to stick to a more primitive experience, but as an extra safety feature I think the inReach service makes sense, and if you've got it, might as well use it for navigation as well, again since it is just that much more convenient. Let me know if this helps and if you have any other questions! Thanks for watching!!

Where’s the birch bark?

There isn't a lot of birch in that area from what I recall, plus I had a ton of leftovers from splitting so I didn't really need to find or make any tinder. Birch bark is definitely some premo tinder though!
