Gary, I’m 75 and I’ve been a backyard gardener all my life. I know your time is limited but I’ve only been a subscriber for maybe a month. Needless to say I’ve been around the block gardening. Years ago I simply was a ground gardener, then I learned about container gardener. However at 75 you begin to feel it and container gardening was easier and really productive and I loved it and still do. I’ve always wanted to grow some things year round but didn’t have a clue how to do it. Okay, with KZbin I began learning and you’ve commented on this, and I conservatively have watched hundreds, having done that I began to start eliminating people that just wanted to hear themselves talk to several that actually knew what they were doing. Of those there was one site that began to separate themselves from the rest and you sir are that site. I’ve purchased the HLT lights and several other things from your store. I don’t have a question and I have only written comments rarely, but thanks to you I’ll be gardening indoors this winter and I’m excited and can’t wait to see the results. I’m going to start with your 13 gallon 5 bucket system. I know I’m just one among many to tell you this but I hope you’re able to read it and for myself, thanks for making those videos helping us older folks continue our passion year round. Your store will be my first go to place for my hydroponic needs.

This is a masterclass on how to produce a perfect tutorial video for building any sort of complex DIY project. The camera angles, close-up shots, and Gary's craftsmanship and attention detail are nothing short of remarkable! This is SO MUCH BETTER than other videos I've seen on the same subject. Also, Gary's narration doesn't just focus on the "How-to," but also on the "Why." That kind of advice is born of experience - from building hundreds of these systems and no doubt making plenty of mistakes along the way. We are getting the benefit of that experience, free of charge, and I just want to say Thank You! Keep up the great work, Gary! This is the first PA Hydroponics video I've seen, and I've just subscribed. 👏💯🏆

Hey, its my buddy Gary! Whats up Gary! Gary sold me a grow room when he first went into business. That particular room got busted ( a good number of successful years into my career ). I had to go do a decent amount of time . Years. Anyway , as soon as I was paroled, I went to see Gary. Farming, after all, is an honest living, and I just so happen to be a farmer. It had been years since id entered PAHydroponics, but Gary knew me immediately and showed genuine concern and empathy for what I had been through. If I recall, he replaced the room I had been busted with for his cost. He didn't make a dime. I'm talking thousand of dollars in equipment. Awesome local business that has everything . You wont believe everything he has there. And a great guy as well.

I just ordered your 4 bucket system and am looking forward to setting it up. I have occasionally run into trouble with Ebb and flow and the waterfall system with clogging. The added speed and ability to control your nuts is the core advantage of Hydroponic growing but the room for error is slim. The large piping removes some of the pitfalls of clogging so I can focus on automation better. From your video, I love your design.

Thanks, for the great video! Well done! I did want to mention, though, that the airstones are not necessary, given the other ways the nutrients and the roots are being aerated. The problem with airstones, apart from being something that you have to replace, is that they tend to get clogged with salts from the nutrient solution - which is why they need to be replaced. When I grew using DWC, I switched to aquarium power heads with an aeration feature, which was just an air tube attached to the outlet side of the power head. One end connected to the outlet and the other was held above the water line. Then, the action of water being pumped through the power head would create a vacuum that drew air into the water stream, thereby making bubbles, like the airstones did. That ended my need to replace airstones. Of course, I grow with an ebb and flow system, now, running the pump for fifteen minutes every hour. So, the roots are exposed to fresh air for 45 minutes each hour and the nutrients are circulated and aerated for 15 minutes each hour. This seems to work great, for me.

I used to grow using the waterfall method. Ended up having to improvise my setup. When using a big tote vs a bucket you need something that really disturbs the water. The waterfall did only in the immediate area and the roots tended to gravitate on that end. I didn't have enough bubbles. I ended up buying a more powerful pump and running 1" pipe from the pump and step downs going down the rows of totes. with the final 1/2" pvc being poked into the totes. I drilled small pin holes (several of them) pointing straight down into the rez. This created a much more powerful waterfall effect. I had a pretty good sized setup. It consisted of close to 400 gal of water for my system. It worked fine until I got grey algae.

Just one little quick bit of advice for the big hole saw. If you wanna cut down on having to flip the drill from forward to reverse when you cut, buy yourself a left hand drill bit.
