IGN's pathetic review of Alien Isolation really hurt the game's sales in my opinion. Back then, IGN still had a large influence in the gaming industry. Isolation was a masterpiece, but the low sales insured that we'll never get a sequel. Not entirely IGNs fault, but their ridiculous review really hurt the game in the end.

5:35 Speaking as an indi game dev, do you know how EASY it is to have an enemy AI to react based off of noise? An explosion can have a sound that travels x distance, and if the AI is within that distance from the sound, then they do Y (whatever you tell them to do). There are a ton of ways to make the AI search more accuratly for the player. This is BEGINNER level game design. How can Indi developers do more than "AAAA" game studios?

Does it even need to be a "sound?(how are you detecting this sound, just seeing if the object itself could hear it, similar to the distance a player would be able to hear it?)" Couldn't you do some sort of detection based on how far an enemy is away from the explosion and if it is in radius(collision) from the explosion? So you have an internal collsion(hitbox?) which will do damage to the player if it's in that range, and then a secondary collision for those enemies who are "within range" of it?

Here's a little bit of info about Thermal Detonators: Most thermal detonators contained baradium, a highly unstable chemical compound that could blow a two-meter-deep hole in pure permacite. Permacite is a grey metal used to create plating on space stations and planet stations on snow planets. As well as the Cannon weapon on Hoth used Permacite plating. A Thermal Detonator, would have spaghettified the MC. And is the reason why the whole room in Jabba's Throne room FREAKED THE FUK OUT THAT THEY WERE IN TOSSING DISTANCE OF A THERMAL DETONATOR THAT CAN BLOW THROUGH A TWO METER DEEP METAL PLATING.

In Star Wars lore, thermal detonators were incredibly destructive and dangerous, where they could do some serious structural damage to the environment and anyone in the room with an exploding thermal detonator would likely get killed. In video games, thermal detonators are obviously still dangerous, but you're right, they acted like ordinary grenades.

Look, I won't lie to you, I do think the explosion and the animation following it looks pretty silly, but I do believe that people are making the conscious choice to dislike this game before its release, and that they'll take any potential negative point, like the thermal detonator, and use it as evidence. But yes, you're right... no one complained (that I'm aware of) about games like Dark Forces, Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, or Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, when thermal detonators exploded like little grenades in that game. My personal view? I'm waiting for reviews on this game. I'm skeptical about Star Wars: Outlaws because of Ubisoft. In my opinion, Ubisoft don't often make "bad" games but... it's been a long time since they've made an amazing game, you know?

I just... I don't understand how with ALL the games that have been cancelled... how do we only seem to get things like Batllefront 1+2 and this? Where are all the Republic Commandos, the Bounty Hunters, the Jedi Outcasts, the KOTORs? Battlefront 2 is actually a legit game and the only EA game I keep installed other than Command & Conquer. They really did a fantastic job and I much prefer it over the original Battlefront games. I own them all, even the PSP ones on the Vita.

If you're gonna make an open world Star Wars game with a random criminal as the hero during the time of the GCW you need to make the Empire terrifying to encounter. It's not technically vaping because there is no vape involved (the device that vapourizes the liquid using power). This is just a tube that lets you suck air through a scented cartridge. It's still flavored air, but with less technology (and probably the cartridge lasts less)
