I'm a die hard Thai foodie and this is my absolute favorite street food dish. Brings me back to my childhood when I would leave out of the restaurant with my family and still buy this on the street because this just looks so tasty especially when it comes right out of the frier, never too full for this dish. Thank you so much for posting the recipe I am going to make this as soon as possible. Love your show!!

Very lovely snack! I would advise putting the whole cake overnight in the fridge and cut it into cubes the next day so that the final shapes will be more regular without sticking to the knife.

Don't hate on veggies, Pailin. You apologized four times for the dumplings being all veggie. I welcome the idea! Any veggie is better than meats. I watch your channel because of your sparkling personality and your tasty recipes that i can tweak to plant-based, and still get close to the flavors you use! I can't wait to try this recipe. Thank you!

Thank you! I didn't mean to come off like I was "hating on veggies", I think my concern was mainly that for people who have never had garlic chives they might think of them like green onions, and you would never use this much green onions in anything cuz it would be far too strong.

I never like Garlic Chive when I was younger because of it smile, but after I try it , it's actually goes really well mixing with pork to make dumpling. My mother just made Garlic Chive Dumplings last week and everyone love it. Strongly recommend everyone to try making this dish or put them into stream Dumplings or even use them to make fried rice or olettle. Thanks for Pailin's great recipe!

This dish is one of the very first thai dishes i ever had and it was phenomenal. The sweet soy and chili paste sauce ñ The local thai restaurant i frequented removed it from the menu and i was devastated. They also discontinued another of my favorites and the first entree i ever had khao mok gai. That meal made me a thai food lover. Thai food is a much lighter more aromatic and flavorful compared to chinese and i have been hooked ever since that first meal. Thanks for the sauce recipe and i might just try this method but traditional i think is gonna be my main go to

This really reminds me of fried chive pancakes where you mix chives into a batter of wheat flour and whole eggs; a Beijing variety, a famous local street food, is to put sliced courgettes for substitute. And the "hard" version sounds a bit like proper Chinese dumplings? In northern China we make dumpling fillings with chives and finely chopped omelette when you don't feel like eating meat, and of course any kind of mince meat would match perfectly with garlic chives; we even have so-called deluxe filling --- garlic chives, pork and shrimp. As for dipping sauce, my parents like to put pounded garlic and chilli into Chinese dark vinegar (or soy sauce, or both), and then add a bit of salt and drips of sesame oil; it's great for boiled dumplings whatever the filling is.
