After hearing this, it's actually convincing me that my 2 issues are not TMS. They are always in the same exact spots, pain continues even if I'm doing something I enjoy (like vacations), etc, etc. The only thing that is perhaps evidence is that greater stress can increase one of my 2 pain problems. The pain doesn't move around at all. It's been like this for over 25 years.

Even if it moves a little in the same spot is good. Just today I pulled something in my thoracic spine during an exercise and my brain forgot about the low back pain lol and just the thoracic area hurts. In the past I bumped my head on a fence and the same happened. Notice situation like these. What happens when you hurt somewhere else?
@iamjustsaying1
@iamjustsaying1 5 күн бұрын
@matenorth The pain is always the same. It doesn't move. It's always on the left side only, exact same location; or in the case of my other pain issue, same organ. There is no moving/changing. Certain things irritate one or the other, so I avoid those things as best I can.

I find that symptoms will flare up after an event..example..the few weeks before Christmas..planning etc..are not as bad, but a day or two after yikes 😬.. I say it’s like a let down..brain knows it’s over and somehow can’t relax. Does this make any sense at all? Merry Christmas and an Awesome New Year’s to you, Dan!!

This was very helpful! My whole life has been very stressful for so many years, so no wonder my symptoms "scream" at me every day...but some days they scream less...and some days they "scream" louder. I have noticed that anxiety can make them scream louder. But also in my situation they seem to rotate round and round. For instance, I have had bad fatigue for long periods of time, but then it goes away and I have some other symptom like digestive symptoms or interstitial cystitis for awhile. My list of symptoms is a "mile long". They don't always happen at once, but if I have several at the same time, it's pretty overwhelming. I think I have MCAS which may cause this. But still I never know with the tummy pain if there is something serious or not, especially when I get the pain...and this symptom seems to flare here and there and sometimes lasts for weeks. But are you saying that if I have the tummy pain one day but then not so much the next day.....and it's just all over the place that this is probably TMS? THANKS for this list! I definitely needed it and will keep it! :)

Yes, quiet down brain😂. Yes, It hit me with a huge stress event which led to autoimmune diagnosis which was later gone; then mold toxicity, and now dupuytrens. A few Dr’s say it doesn’t look like dupuytrens while others say it is(?). I believe all disease have a mind body aspect and the body can recover from it all…because people do (Dr Rediger’s book)🤞🙏

Thanks Dan. My symptoms ramped up significantly when I had a really bad cold and also with the one time I had Covid. The explanation given to me was that those viruses created more inflammation in the body, more cytokines, therefore more pain. Is this a plausible argument please? It’s being told these things and being told you have embedded infections and biofilms that keep me questioning mind/body.

Hey! I have a question. What is the best thing to do when I perceive danger outside? Do I focus on the breath and acknowledge that I perceive danger but that I rationally know I am safe? Like this: "I feel a bit threatened right now because of *situation* , but I know that I am safe, I got this, its oke to feel scared but I am safe and I will do some deep breaths right now to slow down" Orrrrrr should I ignore the thing that triggers my fear response and just focus on safety: "I am safe, I got this, There is nothing going on, I am safe I will breath deeply to regulate" The perceived threat in my case is other people seeing me and wanting something from me (saying hi or just randomly talking to me)

My symptoms go up during activity because I’m so scared of doing it. Sometimes it will go up before in anticipation. Is it tms if it’s during the activity?

Thanks for this, Dan! I did an evidence sheet several years ago and it definitely helped. ☺️ I'm curious, though, if you can have BOTH (a genuine pain condition that flares up due to fear and anxiety over a perceived danger)? The reason I'm asking is because that's what my pain management doctor suggested. He's a wonderful man with an amazing reputation but I've chosen not to see him for a couple years because I don't want that thought in my mind... that I can have BOTH Trigeminal Neuralgia AND it can flare up with anxiety...

I don't buy into the "hybrid" model. How many true answers did you have to the assessment questions. If one or more, the body can't be the problem.

@@PainFreeYou By saying this Dan you wlll drive people away from working on their TMS issues. Of course you can have both. You can have a clinical illness, diagnosed fully with scans, x-rays, bloodwork and lumbar puncture!! Pick one - there are plenty of horrible things to choose from. You can also have TMS issues causing other symptoms unrelated to the diagnosed issue. Remember how Sarno said that autoimmune wasn't TMS? That idea is changing. Nothing is as cut and dried as anyone in the health community wants to make it. Either in conventional medicine or mindbody medicine. Because it doesn't fit an agenda doesn't means it doesn't exist.
@PainFreeYou

@@kateking3953 In the context of Trigeminal Neuralgia, I believe it's TMS/PDP. I am not aware of any other medical condition that causes symptoms labeled by doctors as TN. I've seen people undergo 9 surgeries for TN with no relief. I've seen several successes with a mindbody approach. Yes, of course there are many other legitimate illnesses and disease. However, regarding TN, I'm not aware of another type of illness that causes it which is why I answered this TN question the way I did.
@kateking3953
@kateking3953 6 күн бұрын
@@PainFreeYou Ah, okay, apologies then!!! It looked as though you were suggesting that it's not possible to have 'legitimately diagnosed' conditions causing challenging or life-altering symptoms, and at the same time experiencing TMS. I might suggest that experiencing challenging or significant symptoms from a clinical condition might easily cause TMS symptoms to appear and compound the 'original' problem. I still think that we're only just beginning to get a handle on the abilities of the mind in dealing with illness, and that mind and brain are not the same thing at all. As someone says, in fifty or so years medics may well be looking at how we treat now and view it in the same way we view leeches and electroconvulsive therapy. 🙃🤗

Dan, Dr says a hamstring tear doesn't heal well leaving residual pain. Scar tissue within the tendon causes the tendon not to work as well? This was after an accident 3 years ago. TMS?
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 6 күн бұрын
See how your symptoms behave to determine if it's TMS. How many of those questions did you answer as TRUE? If any, the doctors opinion on how hamstrings heal is not relevant. The questions are in the description of this video. How many True? If 1 or more, it's TMS.
