The FlySky Voltage Meter module is such a must have for my setup

I also built a 1800mm wingspan fpv airplane using 2p3s 2200mah lipo. originally I planned to make a parallel connection to increase the capacity, but what I think is better to make a series connection to increase the thrust with folding propeller, use it only when climbing, then cut the throttle and glide only. for me that's enough to enjoy the scenery in the air😊

My local club taught this beginner how to programme my tx so it either reads out a low cell value or gives an audible warning that the battery is getting low. After a number of flights you will have a good idea of what flight times you can expect.

The amount of times I've had to use algebra and trigonometry in my adult life proved all those math teachers correct lol. I'm running a 3s2p 21700 pack (maximum current discharge of the pack is 76amp) on my 6 inch quad (max current draw of the quad is 80amp it is very rare I ever run full throttle as I just cruise, no flippy floppy as my skills are not up to that lol) and I either get bored or stuck in a tree (got really good at climbing trees again for a 40 year old lol) before I empty the battery lol. Ace info as always. Stay safe Lee

Another way of finding out the current draw is to put a Wattmeter between the battery and speedo - (on the bench!), then you can read off several relevent parameters. A Wattmeter is about £10 on the web, and much better than guesstimating the loading.

A prop in static air pulls a lot more current to when it's in flight. Check out the motor and prop series to see more.

I fly 5000 mah 3s a lot, and in my experience, whether I spend 2000 mah or 3000 mah in the air, they tend to be roughly at storage voltage when I land. I suspect a disproportionally large portion of the total capacity lies between 3.7 and 3.8 volts per cell, but I have never seen graphs showing the actual discharge profile. That kind of data would certainly aid flight planning.
@Painless3602 жыл бұрын
You can see the discharge curve in lots of places on the internet. For LIPO is is incredibly flat from 4.2v down to about 3.7v. It is one of the reasons why they are so widely used in the hobby. Happy flying!

So now I have a question. Could you possibly, for example, have 2 4S batteries having one hooked up to 2 Esc's and the other 4S battery hooked up to the other 2? Basically just splitting the load across 2 batteries.
@Tsnafu2 жыл бұрын
You don't need to - you can run 2 x 4S batteries (of the same size) in parallel, using a parallel connector

Great video as always. The video 42 - 58 seconds describes my issue. I'm trying to get an average amperage reading on my telemetry screen. The reading will not hold. Any idea why?
@Painless3602 жыл бұрын
It depends where you are getting the reading from... Flight controller, current sensor, something else?
@C115pilot2 жыл бұрын
@@Painless360 Yes, the FrSky 150A current sensor. I've set it up to give me the mAHr used, but cannot seem to give me the average amps used per flight. Thank you for your reply and cheers from Canada!
@Painless3602 жыл бұрын
Download the the log file and then export it into a spreadsheet and you can calculate the average. Or, see how many mA go back into the pack after a flight. Then you know the power used and how long you flew, you can figure out the average amp draw...Happy flying

@@Painless360 OK, Thanks Lee. I was hoping for a simple display on the telemetry screen. Now I can stop beating myself up for not being able to do this.

So if I have a 720mah 4s battery with a 250g AUW quad that uses ~4.1amps at hover (theoretically, 20% throttle is 91.2g thrust per motor), I should be able to hover for 8 min and 24 sec (minus some for powering the fc/tx/vtx/and general loss?
@Painless3609 ай бұрын
Theoretically. It'll be less in practice as those extra current demands and battery performance at the end of the available capacity will affect it.. best of luck

Ok please advice me a Li-po battery tu use please also when calculating the total current i took the datasheet of the motor it shows 15A max current draw so i multiplied that by 4 that is what gave me 60A i think it's not wrong?
@Painless3602 жыл бұрын
Unless you are going to be flying at the max throttle then using the amp draw for that won't give you the answer. See my tips at the end of the video for options.. Best of luck
