Really great content Trav. You forgot one part of buying the tools. You can always sell them when you are done and get a portion of the money back. That way you also don’t have to store them and up keep them. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought and resold power tools. I hope it’s a drill set. Mine just crapped out. Great content! Love renting the lift idea. I have a 3 story Victorian brick home I want to paint. A lift would make the job much easier instead of using scaffolding and/or ladders.

Did you use a "masonry" paint?

Yes we used 100% acrylic exterior paint. It is rated for Masonry as it is breathable. Even better if you can find it is Silicate Masonry paint, if it’s never been painted before it binds better with the brick. But 100% Acrylic will work as well, the paint has to be breathable so water doesn’t get trapped between the paint and surface cause it to bubble or flake off.

Hi Kraig it was Sherwin Williams Alabaster white and the primer was Killz brand primer. 100% acrylic so paint is breathable over masonry.

What kind of lift is this an where can you rent one?

Articulating Boom Lift, or knuckle boom lift as they are sometimes called. Most towns/cities will have some sort of equipment rental for contractors in the area, but anyone can usually rent the equipment. A Google search is your best bet to search for heavy equipment rental.

Just remember, you waist anywhere between 20-40% of your paint when using a paint sprayer . So if your on a budget , spend the time to brush and roll , take longer save more. Or if you have the money spray it and spend more

Just downspouts. Typically we won’t remove gutters on a repaint unless they need to be replaced.

Well done video, but I don't understand why you would paint over the nice brick with some ugly, white paint.

The Brick was deeply wire cut giving it a very dated texture, extremely porous and not smooth. The brick was also not a very desirable color. Painted brick has been extremely popular over the past decade. Having the black windows, and roof, against the white paint creates a massive color contrast causing the house to visually pop. In short it helps with Curb appeal, resell value, and time on the market, when looking at market trends in my area.

Yeah, obviously, you'd want to raise the value for when you sell it. I, myself, would rather have the brick. There are so many plain colored houses out there, but that's just me. I like different. 🎃

Painting brick is the stupidest thing you can do to your house. Do some research before you copy these flippers. There are special masonry finishes you can apply to brick if you don't like the color. Painting it like it's a piece of wood is not one of them. Paint can cause actual structural damage to the brick, and turn a low maintenance finish into a high maintenance one.

This brick had been pressure washed multiple times and was left deteriorating and too porous and susceptible to moisture . The paint likely saved the exterior and it looks beautiful. Paint does not cause structural damage to the brick … and we used permeable 100% acrylic elastodynamic paint formulated for masonry. Maybe you should do some research. People have been painting brick for a long time Justin.
