Why didn't you scuff the surface with a mild abrasive to get the paint to stick better?

Justin Hickey We'd recommend staying with the wheel paint. There isn't a recommended clear coat for the epoxy and, though it would stick, if something hit the wheel and scratched the epoxy it would be much more noticeable than the wheel paint with clear over top. Chuck some demos up with chrome plated finish colour paint i used the chrome blue one time came out nice it will be better if you had some videos on rims with chrome paint etc

Question- how durable is the finish when you have the tires mounted? Will the paint scrape right off with mounting machines?

I would like to use the VHT paint on a chrome Tundra front grill to give it the bedliner rough texture look. which product will be best?

If you want a Clear or Black finish, you can apply our Truck Bed Coating. It would give a Black textured finish over Chrome. We suggest heavily sanding the Chrome to dull it first, and clean it well using Grease and Wax Remover.

Have to honest. Just bought some vht aluminum paint for my wheels and it instantly ran. I tried holding back the can even further and still happened. Ended buying another brand from the local lowes. Was I doing something wrong. I prepped the wheels with a scuff pad and cleaned with acetone.

@VHT hi there before I go ahead with painting my wheels gloss black I was wondering if you didn't want the paint anymore can it be removed without effecting the original rim paint and clear coat ?

We recommend a light scuff sand with a 320 grit sandpaper to prep the surface before using the Wheel Paint. Also, if you choose to remove the paint, it would require further sanding or a paint stripper. Either way, there will be an effect on the original finish. If you're working with an aluminum rim, you could buff and polish the finish afterwards, but it still will not look exactly as it was before. Let us know if you have any further questions!

how about a video showing a better range of your products? such as, taking wheel off a car, prepping it, priming, top coats, and clear coats. You have great products... but the information offered in these vid, and even on the can themselves, is pretty poor. "can handle after 3 hours"... does this mean I can pick them up, bolt them to the car, wash them??? youtube is a great tool to easily show how to use your products, and its free!

I was wondering can you still wash your tires/rims with the paint on, also do you have to take the tires off to actually paint ?

Yes, you can use mild non-abrasive cleaners to wash your tires/rims. Taking the tires off isn't required, but it would be suggested. Make certain to hold the cans upright while spraying.

Sorry those custom painted rims don't compare to the original rally wheels. They look out of place on the car.
