This Video is the fourth video in a set of the transformation of my 2014 Toyota Corolla from a red roof to black roof, all bare plastic trims and wheels are also going black as part of the transformation. It doesn't matter if you watch them out of order, I created the videos to be stand-alone episodes.

Alright everyone here's the steps: 1:Clean wheels thoroughly with a degreaser 2: Wipe thoroughly with Prepsol (A Wax & Grease remover) 3: Blow off and Tack rag well before paint application 4: Solvent Basecoat Quartz Solid black (Solvent Basecoat) and apply until coverage achieved 5: Clearcoat: Quartz Crystal Clear Scratch resistant 2k Clear

Your car is looking a million dollars Gunny, I'm surprised you cant get the Quartz brand anywhere else than Spray Guns Direct as it's really underrated, I've used their basecoat and it covers really well, the Quartz thinners is good quality but a bit overpriced and the Crystal Clear seems to be a higher solids than a MS clear but is great as is their Liquid Glass and is really easy to use plus the price of the clear is good. I've not seen the Quartz brand for sale anywhere else. John UK

I'm needing to respray my wheels, fender & swingarm on my motorbike. I also might do a bumper & bonet in the future. What gun would be the best for me to use? I am tired of ordering touch up paints & it's never the right SHADE I have had it! I do the prep work that takes an hour then I go to put on the PAINT AND IT'S WRONGGG. If you prep the rim properly by cleaning it,sanding it down until you dont see any gloss then lay down acouple coats of primer wait 15-20 minutes between coats wet sand with 2200 sand paper wash off the extra dust hit it with alittle degreaser on a paper towel or microfiber towel once you see the surface is smooth and free of any contaminates you can go ahead and lay down color just repeat the same process as your primer coat once you see good even coverage no runs or orange peel proceed with 2-3 coats of clear coat

Just curious why didn't you remove the tires? Or maybe flatten the tire and get the paper and tape a little deeper inside? I'm just wondering if that makes a difference

Looks sick bro. I have been umming and ahhing about the quartz clear - I've dealt with spray guns direct a lot before, I've bought their quartz black and quartz white paint and it's been amazing. I'm a DIYer and do this stuff for fun and to learn. I think this video has given me the reason to just go out and buy that quartz clear coat. I tend to use millaco clear quite often which comes out great after wetsanding and buffing but that quartz clear is fricking amazing, I could barely see any orange peel on there. Amazing job bro. And nice car!!

G'day Gunman, looking at changing my wheels from gloss clear too a matte clear. the centres are cnc alloy and anodised brushed black with a gloss clear so you can see the machine marks from a cnc. what's the best option too paint matte gloss but would it maintain the cnc marks? rather than scuff up using scotch brite can I clean and spray that promotor 222s then apply the matte clear? just concerned about loosing the machine finish. can you get the 222s in a pressure can? any thoughts would be great 👍

Good video... I recently refurbished and painted my wheels Pearl Cadbury Purple, and used Upol HS Clear (cheapest available 2k clear in the UK).. and honestly, its really not very scratch resistant.. Which is very annoying, because i put ALOT of time and effort into the wheels, to bring them back to mint condition, they were highly highly dinged up...

Hello thank you for your video.. I have a question. Today I took my vehicle to get my wheels painted gloss black. The guy I took it to has very very good reviews and I just don't know what happened that after the 3rd painting them and placing the 3rd clear coat, or something like that , the wheels looked very cracked and flaky. Why would that happen? He said that this has never happened to him before and he doesn't know why it happened.I wish I could send you a picture to show you what I'm talking about but They had to remove all the paint and they will start all over again but another day because it was getting late today. He's been doing this for a long time but what did he do wrong?? I just don't know if I should take it back ti him again but I really would love my black wheels. Thanks!
