It's also yet another workaround. If you want a mesh gradient, just paint it yourself. 😉

Thanks for the tip, @Happy_Doom! Yes, unfortunately mesh gradients need to be manually painted right now.

If it's a font, enter the letter you want, like "B" -> convert to curves -> (since the shapes might be grouped, but as single curves, combine them to make single shape) -> you can add a rectangle that would fit the whole shape and add linear or other type of gradient to the rectangle -> place rectangle in the curve of the letter and have same effect. This way you can change the rectangle and have a non-destructive way rather than having a pixel edit.

Hi @Dimapbs, thanks for the suggestion! Yes, you can definitely put a rectangle in the font and change it that way. That works well if you just need a gradient. In this video, I was trying to show the technique of painting in non-gradient patterns.

Hi Trent. I’m pretty new to all this. Thanks for all the excellent content.I’ve learned so much! You’ve convinced me to check out creative fabrica and I noticed there are a bunch of split fonts on there. How would you use them in affinity? Thanks

Hi @adrianmowat, thanks for watching! In this video, I show how to deal with a font that is split across 3 different font files: kzbin.info/www/bejne/in3Le3SAacalkLM Also, I recently did a whole livestream about typography. At 58:26, I show another multi-part font: kzbin.info/www/bejne/inmulWCIrdSUpq8 Hope this helps!

When would you want to clip the layer to the thumbnail/picture
@TechnicallyTrentАй бұрын
Hi @bryerra! When you clip to the thumbnail, it will act as a mask. So it could be used in scenarios where you'd want to do some type of masking.

Absolutely more font vids. TypeStyler was a great program but was left to turn into vaporware.
